  7. No difference mate.. b16 sumps are shallower. B18 sumps are all same. b18 has a girdle on main caps. Hence the deeper sump.

  8. Landrover gear oil is fine yeah. change it, you'll want new oil anyway can always drain it off and reuse it. Just wouldn't get your hopes up mate.. seriously anyone who know my gearbox history. I've been there and done that. Must have spent hundreds on MTF. Never makes any difference for me.

  11. You were right to question it mate. Made me double check as can't afford to have this wrong! It's the B16 sumps that are different to B18. Oil pick ups are different. According to Internet, all B18 sumps are the same.

  15. I had this problem last year, changing the gearbox oil solved it. First time it was ever changed in the car's life!

  16. I don't think any car could change that.

  17. Running off the standard wiring at the moment, trying to find a good 2 channel now to improve it further Drilled the standard mirror triangles and flush mounted the tweeters to them, the component set I got gave me the option of proper tweeter pods or flush mounting them, so I went with the latter Yeah red filter, got it for £11 off eBay, and yup I've done a few 0-30 runs and coupled with my exhaust it sounds insane on VTEC now, feels a lot more 'alive' and 'B series'-ish.. if that makes sense? Thanks for introducing the mod to me, and also the 22mm breather was still loose so like you suggested, tighten the hose clamp till theres no give whatsoever!

  18. I recently decided to do some small weight reduction becuase every gram matters. Switched my rubber mats for my fabric mats (rubber ones are very heavy). Installed new lightweight OEM wheel nuts. Old vs new Changed my heaunit for Kenwood KMM-361SD, it's a mechless unit with shorter body that weights only 540 grams and has everything I need. Keeping my music in a SD card istead of CDs is a big relief. I really love it. And sounds better than my previous Pioneer DEH-P6700MP. Added a small accessory to the boot that I really like, looks oem and keeps the boot tidy. It's attached with velcro and doesn't move at all. Keeps my oil and fire extinguisher. Weighted my car and it was 1140kg with ~20 liters gasoline. Not a bad result I think. Future plan is: - remove rear wiper motor (wiper arm and arm are long gone) - switch spare tire to space saver - remove rear speakers (I always turn them off from the headunit anyway) - install passanger rail to driver seat (Inclining function is heavy and I would never use it. I'm 192cm tall ) - change the backbox for something light - maybe look for a lighter battery to use only in summer, any suggestions ? With some mods I added weight but nothing I can do about that. p.s. Has somebody weighted a stock wing mirror ? I'm curious to know how much I saved with rover mirrors. They have a plastic base instead of metal.

  20. Poly trailing arm bushes are pretty gnarly. heavy braking in my eg means you have to be on your toes.. back end gets very loose and skitty. only thing I can put it down too

  21. Will deffo be replacing with honda OEM bushes. Thinking about getting new trailing arms, which I can paint or powder coat before they are fitted. Will be my start on detailing the underside of the car Painter hasn't got back to me with a price for full respray yet, so undecided if she's going there or if I'm going to do it myself. Massive job, but the rewards for doing it myself would be huge.

  24. Can't wait to get the new wheels on!! They are sitting there looking at me right now Well today I got the Skunk2 LCA's on which turned out to be a massive pain in the a$$. Both bolts which goes through the sub-frame has snapped. I knew this was going to happen but I didn't expect them to be feckers to get out. Loads of cutting, grinding and drilling lol. But they're on! I will bolt on the Beaks bar when I find the brackets :D And had bit of a b**boo on Friday. Cut a long story short, I was messing around with one of the blokes I work with at the garage. I drove around the corner a tad fast and hit another car. Only a small bump and nothing serious. The headlight clips and bumper clips have broke and obviously some scuffs on the bumper. I will get this sorted ASAP. So yeah, tw@t move, lesson learned..

  25. Well, trip to rjm was good, she drove spot on as always. Exhaust check was perfect, and got her a full service inc all filters, spark plugs etc. They also gave her a full check from front to back and discovered the following..... Poss leak from the power steering rack. Rear LCA bush slightly perished Brake fluid needing changed soon. So, the power steering leak. Chris said it looked small signs of power steering fluid around the rack, but no trace of any leaks. There hasn't been any signs of fluids on the garage floor at home, and the fluid was still up to the mark, so hadn't lost any! I eventually realised it must be from when I cleaned the engine bay for japfest last year.....I used gunk, but found I couldn't get down behind the rack to clean, so its obviously the residue from me rinsing the gunk off. Thank feck! The LCA I knew about, as it happened when we were trying to get the bolt out to fit the Meister's. We had to heat the bolt, which melted the rubber slightly. They said it won't fail the not, just an advisory, but I'm getting it changed anyways as can't have her having any faults whatsoever! The brake fluid will be getting flushed and renewed at her not this month, so that means all poss faults sorted. So health check wise, she's in excellent health! I've now started the refurb on her original rocker cover (the purple one was just a temp replacement for japfest that I bought, but tbh, the paint finish isn't up to my standard! So have stripped her original cover back to bare metal, and have metal polished the "honda" lettering so it now looks like chrome. Plan is to respary it (masking the polished bit) in Orleans blue, and add a metalflake to the Lacquer. Also planning to do some airbrushing on it too. Or other plan is to send it away to be chrome plated. Or third option is to have it powder coated, as my guy that does that has a new chrome finish powder coat. Also awaiting a quote for a full bare metal respray! Quote for just the bonnet, front lip and blending into front wings was £600! Think that's a tad high, although have seen 2 cars (Jensen interceptor and escort cosworth) that the guy has done and they were flawless. He's been a spray painter for over 30 years and comes highly recommended so might just bite the bullet. Or if I ever get this bloody unit, I'll respray her myself. Her original paintwork is actually really good apart from the stone chips on the bonnet, but I want her perfect in every single way! I'm just fussy about her, like dawn was! Lol

  30. I will be buying new lugs at some point to go with the wheels and calipers once I have done them but for now I thought I would just spray the existing ones..The Blue coating has almost come off so I just sanded them down Applied some primer to one for testing Bought some purple paint for £1..That will do for now even though I am not really keen on the color lol When I fit them the color peels off a little but from a distance they still look better than they did before so I am not complaining

  33. Erm, when I got the clutch changed lets just say I started doing 1st to 2nd shifts a lot more.. vigorously? And because rainsports have so much grip, the tyres don't allow it to chirp 2nd gear like an MB6 does, more like leap into the next gear with traction, all the stress had cracked the gearbox mount and the inner mounting bush had split.. Oops. Gearshifts do feel a lot better now as the mount and bush were the original ones so again, on 107k. And yeah, slowly fixing everything up on it to be better than it's ever been. I want it to be the very best like no one ever was. Exhausts done, clutch done, airbox done, valve clearances done, mounts done, rad done, driveshafts done. Basically no mechanical area has been left untouched now haha!
