Hamza's silver MB3 - 07/08/2014 - Red rocker cover

Oh well, as long as you're spreading the word. -
Lol, glass houses dude!!
-
x2, side windows are fine, rears are a pita.
-
Absolutely, I wanted to take my time and get it right. I was talking to my mate about it the other day and we were saying when we were younger we'd have had it done in a day but they'd look sh1t and the paint would probably have fallen off by the end of the week.
-
Good to know it's not just me being slow then.
-
I think it was about £70 but I could have saved myself a delivery charge if I'd ordered enough paint to start with, realised as soon as I started putting the HB primer on that I hadn't got enough. Seeing as it would cost almost that much per wheel by a pro, I'm more than happy. Yes, those. They're from an Accord. Thanks mate.
-
You'd be surprised how easy the repair part of it is. Just take your time and get the prep right and they'll be good.
-
Well I know which is cheaper.
-
True, pays you back in spades when it's clean and the sun shines on it though.
-
Nice, she'll be looking stunning then.
-
Today! Lol, if only they were done in a day, taken me about 4 weeks, snatching the odd couple of hours when I can.
-
That's way too philosophical a conversation for here.

Plates do look neat. That dust was a nightmare, we got a ton of it in the south east, my car was filthy Tuesday morning.

That's a decent looking MB2, did you send him in this direction? You don't need bigger wheels to go lower, the opposite in fact, the smaller your wheels the lower you can go as bigger wheels are more likely to need work to fit. Yep. -
Mr Brown's Project MB3- Front End Repair Underway

I really like these, Krzys is right Wilksey fitted one a while back, he didn't really elaborate on how to fit it though but I think it all wires straight in, it might be worth popping a bigger fuse in though. That sucks about the wing, good to know Adam is selling the parts at a good price though, he really needs to be on here. -
Yeah it is a bit. Me too.
-
Some good work there, nice pics. I like the centre caps by the way. Are you trying to bring it indoors?
-
I see what you mean, that is quite loud, cracks along rather nicely though eh. Glad you've finally got the leak sorted.
-
Cheers bud, it's quite a lot of work but the sense of achievement is great, really looking forward to getting them on next week.

x2.

After that they were rubbed down again with 1200 wet & dry and sprayed with high build white primer. All white in the sun! Then rubbed down again with 2000 grit and sprayed with 3 coats of silver. And finally 3 coats of lacquer and this is what they look like today. I have to say I'm pretty chuffed with how they've turned out considering this is the first time I've attempted a job as big as this. And it didn't all go to plan, on Thursday when I went to move the first wheel over for the 1st coat of lacquer the wheel next to it fell over face first, once I'd finished swearing it was back out with the wet and dry, filler and silver paint.
-
So I started by grinding off the worst bits and rubbing back all the rest until I had a good base to work with. Then they were filled and rubbed down again in increasing stages of wet & dry. Hosed down and left to dry out in the garden. After that they were wiped down and sprayed with filler primer. I told my mate when he came round to help with the paint correction the other week that this was the colour I was going with. His face was a picture.

Right, this has taken me some time but my wheels are finally finished. How they started. As you can see they were pretty scruffy and had loads of kerb rash. That's how I bought them by the way, not my doing.
