I just used decent quality plastic primer and satin black (hycote it think). Just key it up until the shine has gone i found wire wool the best for this it leaves no visible scratches once topcoat is applied and its easier to get in all the hard corners.

Cheers guys! to be fair if your careful and dont rush things its hard to mess up. I didn't put mine in the oven i used a hot air gun and gently pryed apart.

Wheels now up for grabs in the for sale section chaps ! I fancy a change

I work there!, dont do p/black anymore as for things laying around i know they scrapped a vti deck in p/black the other day, the starter motor had gone and they dont make them anymore and wont put another make on it so just scrapped it, i did ask if i could buy it but no chance was the answer i got back! Thats just stupid!!!

It was a rare factory option for the EG. I like it also for that reason. Its not too flashy. I have only ever seen a couple for sale over here. mainly an american/jap part ..So lucky find!

Finished my blacked lights and got them fitted properly. Im pleased with the result gives the car a much more menacing front end imo.

I have done as best i can, Obviously i could do it while they were still open while i was still welding as id have liked. The only thing what concerns me is the mild steel welding wire on the back of the welds. I have read that that tends to rust from the ends and rust little holes where it meets the body. Hopefully i will have got enough waxoyl to prevent this.

Btw did the video work for you?

Cheers mate, im just glad all my works paying off. Ahh ok thanks. I have a spare d- engine so maybe ill try the tps off of that hopefully that will sort it. It's just strange how its started all of a sudden!
-
Just be patient it will soon come off.
-
Probably the best way! i tried with a thin scalpel and it took forever. How will you go about re-fitting? or will you get the pro's in?

Yeh its easy enough to take apart the hardest part is taking the clear plastic off the cluster. Its plastic welded/fused, so just run a sharp stanley on the top and bottom then gently pull. Dont try prying it!!! i found out the hard way but luckily i had a spare
-
Small update time has arrived again I have fitted my new cluster in today, I gave up on the idea of setting it to its correct milage after trying to do it on my old odometer and made a comlete hash of it. I think they look spot on fitted although i do need a new cluster surround as i snapped the bottom right clip off when removing it in the dark but i should imagine that there easy to get hold of. When i started the car to see if everything worked ok After it got up to tempature it started hunting/surging, What could this be??? The car hasnt been for a good run in 2 weeks or so so maybe damp?? failing that air fuel sensor/ lambda?? any way heres a vid of the problem in question. Sorry about bad phone quality vid. Last thing i have done is blacked my pass headlight to mach the drivers one. Im sick of it being odd pics to follow tomorrow when re-fitted.
-
Who knows, When i took it off the breaker it was empty. When i got home it had fuel in it! if only it was like that when fitted to the car . It has reset its self now fitted although it's showing less
