    NIKH25

only met nick a couple of time's and he left a lasting impression on everyone he's talked to, nick, you are a legend on here, and have had just about all of us in stitches. thank you.
  3. ok, never mind, let's hope it's what kink is thinking.
  4. look's like you aren't having fun, with bleeding the brake's, you want to do the furthest away from the master cylinder, and it want's to be a 2 man job. so you need to bleed in this order, O/S/R, N/S/R, N/S/F and O/S/F. the most effective way of bleeding the brake is to have one sat in the car pressing the pedal, and the other cracking the bleed nipple. so, 1, top the fluid up 2, press and hold the brake pedal 3, open the first bleed nipple, (with the person still holding the pedal down) 4, close the bleed nipple, repeat several times on the each caliper. the other thing i would do is to wind the rear caliper piston's back in and pump the brake's back out, this should reset the handbrake mechanism in the calipers as well. wish i had seen this earlier, as i was up in your neck of the woods today.....
  5. yeah can only agree on that one, the only known one is to raid a high spec rover 400/45 or a mg zs.
  6. do ya know what, i'm gonna borrow a couple of artic's, a minibus, no a coach, and raid this honda warehouse in belgium for all of the civic M chassis parts....
  7. cheer mate, it's been a long road, and there's not long left till i'm completely happy with her, but all in time and all that..
  8. they look very oem, i'm gonna have to consider some as i really do find it hard to judge where the back of the car is as time's, where as the work van, i can stick it any where......
  9. oh yes!!!!, just driven back from lincoln, had a 12 plated civic on my ass, didn't know what to do when i overtook a couple of car's. and also upset a golf as well, bottled it on the start of an overtake. meh passed him and the van he was gonna overtake as well.....
  10. the brake's worked, what's the matter with that, just been out around town, all is good, the gearbox is smooth, the little knocking noise has disappeared from the nsf, the osf squeak has gone as well, all the brake's are spot on. really happy again
  11. can we cast our mind's back to toms dad's bmw electric thingy, that went a bit weird with us lot putting deltic and paxman valenta engine's into car's.....
  12. yeah he did, he picked it up near newcastle, and when he got to weatherby to fill up, he noticed it wasn't there.... this is why we tap wheel nut's with a hammer on service's.... and yes that's drum brakes fitted.
  13. yeah well happy, i was also in the right place at the right time, as a work colleague who is on weekend call out got called to weatherby service's, so they asked me to cover call out's in immingham for the afternoon, this is what my colleague got called out to... no, we don't know where the wheel is.....thank god it's a N/S wheel so it most likely ended up in the ditch, not someone's car....
  14. got mine all sorted, mtec disk's with ebc black stuff pads, what a combination, the disk screw's will go in any hole on mine, most likely down to rust in the thread's...
  15. ere, i'm done. well happy, being able to do it at work made it a hell of easier, forget your little 2ton car jack, i'll borrow the 10ton hgv jack, yeah the one where it's easier to move with a forklift than by hand.. started about 12.30 but was on and off it due to helping a workmate with his car for an hr or so. gutted that i didn't get any pic's as no phone or anything. couldn't believe how easy the car came apart, not a single siezed split pin or nut, only struggled with the driveshaft nut, that was bloody tight.... so the rear pad's are in, the disk's are ok but will want replacing when the pad's require replacement, the front disk's well the pad's were only using a 1/3 of the disk on the inside , but same again even the disk retaining screw's came out with very little persuasion. i didn't realize how poor the brake's were, but now even look at the pedal, and i've stopped already. the gearbox and drive shaft was a good one, the oil was well past it and the box feel's a lot better for the change, but it was a twat to fill up, got the first liter and a half in and then it started to pour out of the level plug, oh bugger, that's because of the axle stands, and the rear of the car nearly on the floor. so put all the plug's back in found a blot on the top that i could fill up with and poured the rest of the oil in. engine oil and filter went to plan. the bottom ball joint's were a "get them done now or it'll need them for the mot" the driver side one was squeaking, but what i didn't know id the passenger side one had a little bit of play in it as well, and both dust covers were also split. also washed it as well. i'm so glad it's all done now, and it's such a different vehicle to drive again, oh the brake's have bedded in well
  16. well that is it, all the part's are here, all i need now is me, the car and the part's to be at the workshop on saturday afternoon, this is what i've got to do on saturday; front disks and pads O/S driveshaft both bottom ball joint's engine oil + filter gearbox oil rear pads fuel filter gonna be a long afternoon...
  17. looking at the spec's i can find, honda MTF meets landrover MTF, and the opposite is true.
  18. yeah, a total and utter fuck up on their part. i'm no longer testing now, (moved from car's to hgv's) but i would test again.
  19. even andrew page's were struggling to find the correct oil, and the lad serving me was a honda nut as well, we even tried looking for a DC2 gearbox oil... don't really want to go back if i have too..., done a bit of digging. the gearbox require's honda MTF, which is Honda MTF-7289. on further digging, on entering this number in google, this came up http://www.mgfcar.de/gearbox/refill.html, and landrover MTF94 meet the honda spec, and anything that meet's the landrover spec, will meet honda spec so gonna get some landrover mtf sorted also found as you know you can use 10/40 engine oil, and also 75/80 gear oil...
  20. actually, that's not too bad, considering it's an import
  21. got permission to stay in the workshop sat afternoon, picked up engine oil, but was struggling to find gearbox oil though, i know it's mtf i'm after, but all i'm finding it mtf/ 75/80 is this any good, also ordered 2 bottom ball joint's as i heard one of mine squeak.
  22. mine was a 3 day course, 2 studying the manual, and one on the computer if i remember correctly, to become eligible to be a tester, you need to have 4yrs's traceable history of being a mechanic, be level 3 trained, or pass the NTTA test, i did the latter, i traveled to peterborough to do my ntta test, took that in the morning. traveled back to work, when i got back i phoned up to be told i had failed, and i would be officially told by post, the letter came through, and after much questioning going on they had not totaled up all the score's, so where i was told i had just missed out on a pass (2/3 point's) i had actually pissed it.... as people have said, good luck with it all.
