Yes Jake, I will be dismantling both gearboxes to try and swap the bearings around (That's if they're the same, hopefully...) I repaired a few gearboxes before but I have NEVER stripped down a Honda gearbox. I dunno what they're like but it should be fun Is this the barcode sticker on the far left which tells you the model of the gearbox?

Mr Brown's Project MB3- Front End Repair Underway
vtec2011 replied to Mr Brown's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
Wow... that looks awesome! Good effort mate. Its amazing how a bumper lip makes a huge difference! -
Thanks for the replys people I looked at the gearbox today and I couldn't find no number. But as Nick said there is a sticker? I looked on Civiclife and someone said some of them had the code ingraved around the oil drain area... so I will have another look soon. If your wondering why I'm looking for the code, I want to see if the input shaft bearings will fit the original gearbox for my MB3. If I can fix the original gearbox the car wont have to scream 4000rpm doing 70mph in 5th gear Will save loads of fuel too The gearbox on my Civic now the ratios are far too short...

Dam! That's far too low for my liking... especially the roads I drive on. Would look sick though

Alright fellas Just asking for help here and I will soon be asking for more help... I had the D16 gearbox in my MB3 for a while now and I could never find the code. All I know the gearbox has came out of a EM1 shape Civic ( 1999 3 door Coupe) Many thanks

Nice! I'm looking to lower my car 40mm on 15's as there's a huge arch gap which is annoying to look at I just saw your Civic on Ebay. I didn't realize your selling it until I saw the above comments. Good luck mate

Beautiful car Sits perfect and those wheels look just right!
-
Wow those wheels look beast on your Civic! I am glad to see another MB3 owner appreciate the power on these little 1.5's. They are even more rapid if you fit a short ratio gearbox on like mine How much did you lower her? Oh and welcome to Civic5...
-
Thought it felt loose
-
No... f**cking... WAY! I bet your livid! It has to be you huh, gutted mate...
-
Ye I think 40mm is the way to go but there is a lot of bumpy roads where I live. It shouldn't be much of a problem though...
-
It is the BEST thing to do, ever! Indeed it does... As we all say, small things can make a big difference
-
How's it going with your progress? Done anything new to your M?
-
Beautiful pics, good effort! I go Scotland every year and go to all sorts of places. Loch-ness camp, Ben Nevis and wotnot. And the roads...
-
Looking good mate. I really need to get rid of the chrome crap off mine yet

My Civic MA The Story Continues, She’s Back :)
vtec2011 replied to skitzma8's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
The sunstrip blends in nicely on your M My car has an oil leak at the same area (around the crank pulley area) I think it's either the sump gasket or the crankshaft seal. I personally wouldn't worry about it as I had my car a couple years and haven't lost any oil -
Thanks a lot mate And thanks to everyone for the kind words...

I have finally got new tyres and got rid of the monster tyres. It steers and drives beautiful! They are 195/50/15 RoadStones which only cost 140 squids for all 4! BARGAIN! One problem though... arch gap! So it's lowering next but I don't know how low she should go

I have just looked on Japfest website, I thought it already started last week haha. I know someone who's at Castle Combe Circuit now so I got a little confused

Thanks for the input Welding it is then... Ye that is going to be a pain to fit as the Piper backbox don't have any brackets or supports. I took my car to a exhaust garage last week and they said there is no way you can fit a universal backbox to these Civics (which is a load of b*llocks) so i'm going to try and fit it myself -

I would weld, as clamps will only come loose over time. Good point, thanks -

I guess your backbox is a universal? If so how did you fit it? I got a universal 4" Piper backbox and wondering what is the best way fitting it (use clamps or weld it together) Thanks -
Thanks for the kind words everyone:) I was going to go Japfest yesterday but I had to cancel it due to family commitments... I am defiantly going next year and my car should have more bit & pieces to show off
-
Thanks mate! I'm well chuffed with the new camera, it's only a compact Samsung ST66 but with 16 mega pixels and HD, it does the job well

That is a sweet looking MA mate! Love the colour and the EP wheels look great in black. My 1st car is a 1997 MB3 D15Z8. I still got her now
