  1. Right Krzys! Having read your woes, i am now lending my sympathetic opinion now. I have had exactly the same problems with my car, albeit not with the car itself but all the mods i have done. I have gave examples in my rants in my own build thread and the best advice i can give..... Simple walk away for a short while and get your head straight, then tackle things with a clear head and when theres nothing complicated in your life, at that moment in time. The funeral and all that goes with it will bring you down and your head just aint in it. Stick with your car mate, once everything is done, then its a sorted car for you to enjoy for many years to come. As said previously, its a solid, rust free car...that in itself is worth keeping. Chin up ya big woose!
  2. I took @UnicyclingTom advice and used motul fluid. Mechanic in work gave me a syringe to drain fluid out of reservoir then advised to pump pedal 20 times per side whilst topping up with new fluid. 20 pumps of pedal seems a lot but that way guarantees a good flush! I don't have fade anymore but just disc problems as per this thread!
  3. Heading to bed now as knackered! zzzzzzz
  4. I'm kinda in between on these thought! On one hand we have OEM which Honda deemed perfect for the car. On the other we have discs that should be designed to rid heat and improve stopping! Gee, a don't know!
  5. I know mate but it's just my luck...as per usual
  6. Had discs on for exactly 13,875 miles. A few roadtrips/meets and one trackday. Looking at that stat...they have lasted well!
  7. p.s I was running green stuff pads btw
  8. I found the mtec brillant as well mate, really stopped on it's nose. Only issue for me was the slight cracking all round the front discs and the now shudder under heavyish braking, a sign that the mtec metal has some flaws. Even although they are small cracks, they WILL get bigger over time.
  9. Yeah, i think that might be an option. Just thought that as the discs are grooved, they would help to clean the pad up and stop glazing. But fitting decent ferodo pads, would be fine also! ooooh what to do!
  10. The heat cracks were away from the dimples though. Thought that the dimples would have allowed the hot air to dissipate from the disc rather than having the heat on the surface of the disc? I am going to buy some piping and direct to discs! Warming up and cooling down on the track yes, we have a one lap warm up before everyone goes for it. Brakes should be warm on that lap. On the road its different....use em as we need em!
  11. Yeah Brembos would be good but i'm looking at a budget of around £150 for front discs (maybe should have mentioned that in my original post). I'm thinking maybe standard discs and Ferodo 2500 pads?
  12. Cheers for the fast feedback! Ive heard stoptech are good discs but only list for DC2. My mate has a DC2 but only has 262mm front discs whilst on the later 98 DC2 has the 282mm same as the MB6 but its 5 stud. I will look into Tarox but going by the name...there ££££££
  13. On my previously owned MB6 i had mtec drilled and grooved discs. These cracked and after sending them back TWICE, yes twice, mtec then said i'd be better off with some other make as they coundn't guarantee they would not crack. Yes, i drove it like i stole it everywhere back then, but the discs were crap. Now reading the forum it turns out that drilled are NOT the way to go. Understandabe now! On my recent MB6 i went for mtec grooved and dimpled all round but the fronts have now got several small heat cracks on them. Now i know i have had one track day but they were slightly cracked before i took it on but have serious warping issues under heavy braking now. I need front discs to withstand some abuse but mtec are not able to do the job of serious hooning once in a while. My question is; what front discs do i now purchase? Advice please
  14. Class write up Dave! Shame you had 'bit' regarding the Clarkson review! hahahaha swim past and dont take the bait! John looked after his type r with passion! All honda parts and had spent £800 on tyres weeks before he traded it in! No expense will be spared with Ruby either. The minute i sent him the pictures of Ruby for sale my phone rang. He knew that i loved my car so knew Ruby was going to be his from then on. I will encourage him to go to the meets but you will defo see her on camera/pictures in the future. John and I understand that it IS hard to let a car go. People think of cars as just metal, we see them as memories and all the effort put into them. John understands what it's like to loose something that means so much (in car terms). So rest assured he will look after Ruby and keep her in tip top shape..using Honda parts and with the attention to detail he shared with his ATR.
  15. My mate John has just text me saying "one more sleep" before he gets Ruby. I'm finishing my shift at 7.30am, picking John up at 8am from Glasgow then head to Dave's in over an hour. Long morning for me but worth it as it's good to see John lusting after a Honda again. I'm sure Ruby will be featured in many of my roadtrip videos as we both like spirited driving and enjoying our cars!
  16. EH? I never put that video up? The link in my sig is that video but didn't post! **scratches head** Ps John is a good guy and as Dave said, loves his Hondas!
