Wow! I didn't know there was a rear lip for the MA's to be honest until now. I quite like the style of it too. It's really cool that you found them after all this time, there must only be a few of them left.

Been wanting a rear ARB, Mb6 or MG I don't mind. I don't really want to go drilling holes in suspension parts unless I have to though so what is the best way to put a rear anti roll bar on?! Will I have to pay out for aftermarket ones or try finding Mb6 control arms? What bolts etc would be needed? I had hoped to have had a few more things done to post on here by now but unfortunately not! Had a chance to get some standard Mb 14" alloys a few weeks back to replace the steel wheels but didn't go ahead with it in the end. I've been spending all my time trying to figure out the fog light wiring to the original switch, I can't be bothered cutting all wires to the pre existing rear switch if I can't get the front light bit working too! Just can't work out if I only need the wire from the relay I've installed, or if I need a live/earth too.

So has anybody ever fitted DRL's to a Civic M? I know they're not the most stylish or needed thing but I think on one hand it would modernise the car a bit and saves your sidelights come winter. Some basic ones seem easy to fit as well. Only questionable thing for me would be where to fit them? I've seen people put ring ones around the fog lights, seen people mount the cheap & common LED strip ones on the front lower bumper grille, but there isn't a lot of space for them really. Would be great to hear if anybody has installed them or your opinions on them!

A BMS front lip? Not sure what that is? Yes, the Rover stuff will all fit as far as I know. All spoilers from Rover 400/45's and MG ZS including the little boot lip spoiler (Except the 'extreme' one without modifying). The Rover 45/MGZS mk1 (Hatchback) side skirts will fit, but not the later saloon ones. I think that's right? Don't think they had any compatible bumper lips of any kind. Basically for the front you have either the VTI lip or the VTIS lip, the side skirts you have the Rover/MG or VTIS ones, rear lip you have the VTIS one. I'm also looking for a rear bumper lip but there is only the really hard to get VTIS one. Can't fit those with original mud guards either. I'm going to try one of those universal rubber ones that tape on in the meantime...

Wonder if anybody can help - been looking into getting some new Ignition leads, so thinking of getting some red ones or sticking with black to keep the contrast against the clips I bought. Are cheap ones okay or should I be paying quite a lot? Seen sets for under £40 and not sure if that is too cheap. Is it likely to definitely help the running of the car? I've heard it smoothens everything out again. Only because sometimes at low speeds I get a bit of a judder and isn't very amooth at all.

Nice Civic! Looks a lot like my MB2 except yours has colour matched bumper strips which I like! Looks really good. Yeah as Dave said those wheels will not fit unfortunately, I almost made same mistake once before.
-
Okay so I got the fogs installed where I want them, done the grounding for them, just the wiring left to do now. My rover 45 front/rear switch and wiring came but I've noticed it has 3 more wires coming off than the switch for just the rear. That kind of makes sense as most switches have 3 wires coming off, but I'm using a relay & wiring kit and I'm not sure where I should be attaching the wire coming from the relay onto these 3?
-
Yeah I was going to get them wired up etc and then decide how I want them. Trying to figure out if I could use something as a spacer behind the L brackets and in front of the screw threads to bring them out a bit. Here are both ways for now anyway. Second looks better but I'm not sure if they're sat too far into the bumper and you can see the inside of the surround (which I wrapped so looks bad there haha) will either leave them stuck out a bit or get something to act as a spacer and do the second way so it doesn't look as obvious.
-
Wow wish I'd seen those earlier! Was looking for some for a while, eventually got some clear ones that are same size so I've done the same as you I think. Fitted the fogs today but wasn't happy with how far they stuck through the black surround on the outer side, didn't look terrible but not perfect, tried turning the L brackets around but now it doesn't stick out far enough.. Not sure if it's better to have them sticking out a bit or not enough!
-
Thanks pal, yeah definitely! I'm surprised how just from painting the 'Honda' and adding a couple little bits it's totally changed it already really. Would it it be possible to scrub down the heat shield to a good finish or will it need spraying do you think? What size were those fogs? Seem to fit really well! Thanks for that, I've ordered some smaller L brackets now to try, only ones I've been able to find are all 4cmx4cm, 5x5 etc, can't find the actual L shaped ones anywhere. So it's making it really difficult. Need some washers too for the bolts because the ones I bought are fairly small, wanted to make sure they'd fit through everything, so just feels like I've been throwing money at this with no gain! But I've bought a switch etc from somebody now (Always get more results from Rover breakers than I do from Honda breakers it seems!) so hopefully will be able to crack on now and get fogs wired in when it stops raining!

In better (and non-ranting!) news, made an okay start on the engine bay. Here it is fresh after some painting on the rocker cover. Painted over some rusted parts on the AC fan unit and Still a good clean up to be had, radiator cap in the post, etc. Tried wrapping the fuse box lid, but it was really really hard so I went for a rough covering of the most raised bit instead. Next time I'm at the breaker's I'll try get a spare that I can toy about with and possibly spray red. Eyeing up some red ignition leads too, will it be good practice to replace these anyway seeing as mine are now 19 years old? (I know the radiator stay is upside down in this pic, I couldn't figure out which way up to put it as my socket was slightly the wrong size so wouldn't tighten it all the way!)
-
Well I've just about given up with installing fog lights, tried everything to get them put in but without the original brackets I just can't do it, every L bracket and way of putting them in just doesn't work. They're all far too long so it just sticks out to one side and the black surrounds won't fit, either that or they stick out a full couple inches too far. Anybody got any experience installing with no brackets?

So far this week I have dechromed the rear number plate strip and wrapped it in the same Matt black as the front grille, also got rid of the tar buildup behind the back wheels for when I attach the bumper lip. Haven't put the bumper lip or the Rover boot lip on yet though (partially because repainting the boot lip isn't working well at all) because I did some motorway driving yesterday and today and didn't want them to fly off! Hopefully get that stuff done towards the end of the week along with some engine bay dress up! Had some cheap eBay fog lights come which fit the recesses pretty well, how do I go about making the brackets for them? Struggling to get them central etc with L brackets.
-
Thanks mate, got some minor stuff coming up but a lot more planned Thanks for the suggestion, started reading that thread and you're right! Though it's slightly making me regret all the red engine bay dress up stuff I've ordered haha! Thanks Maz! Started reading your build thread and absolutely loving it so far, sure I will get lots of inspiration from it! As I said, making me regret ordering red stuff and not going blue on my engine bay, matches the silver well. Off work next week so going to get a couple things done to the back of the car, boot lip spoiler, rubber bumper lip (once I get the Tar buildup removed.. That will be messy) and dechromed, was hoping to get front fog lights wired in too but the eBay ones that fit direct aren't in stock unless I buy a wiring kit with them, and I'm messaging Civic/MG/Rover breakers trying to get the switch & dash wiring and not had a reply yet.

A free rear lip?! You know how to annoy me! Been looking for ages. Yeah I see the rust on the Aerodeck was too much really.. That's one of my biggest fears, that one day one of the smaller patches of rust will just result in the car being finished off! Not too keen on the MA back lights but they don't look bad on yours against the blue paint. Oh and those fins on the front bumper (not sure what they're called) definitely look unique!
-
Shame you've gotten rid of the aerodeck and not kept both! Car looks nice, jealous of that VTI-S rear lip!
-
Really like your car and what you've done to it pal! Good to see somebody taking the time with an MB2. Plus it has convinced me that I really want those fanblade alloys now! Did you ever get the rubber bumper lip on? I've bought something similar for the back bumper on mine as I can't find a VTI- S rear lip at the moment.
-
Cheers, what did the 15's look like? I see the same alloys on the mb2 sports, mb3's etc, were the 15" a different style?
-
Nice one pal! Make sure you keep us updated on it aha Cheers Dave! Looking great by the way! Been eyeing those up but didn't think they'd fit the MB's because the radiator sits quite flush. Good to see that they do however, I'll definitely get on it. Saves buying some paint to redo the original. Replacing bolts could be on the list as well, get it all matching slightly more! Got a cheapo universal rubber bumper lip coming in the post to try on the back bumper in the next few days, not sure how well it will work but I've given up trying to find a VTi-S rear lip and just wanted something there. Will probably keep it black to avoid messing around so hoping it will be subtle instead of sticking out against the silver. Not sure what to do with the exhaust area, would the heat from the exhaust tip affect rubber that much? Might just be be me being thick also, but can anybody tell me the size of the original steel wheels? 14" right? And the size of the MB2/3/4 OEM alloys, are they 14 or 15? Thanks!
-
Thanks for the offer Dave, I do have a double fog light switch but it's a bit worn so may take you up on that if no luck. struggling to find the plug & wiring for the back of it as well as a set of clear lense fog lights but I'll keep looking. Thanks dr_broon, looking forward to seeing what the coming months and years bring Just been planning a load of engine bay dress up stuff as well. Going to go for mainly red I think. Got some blue Spoon socks coming (cheap & cheerful to decide if I like & can't find many red ones) Oil/radiator caps, battery clamp, heat proof paint for the rocker cover writing etc. Eventually I'll take the rocker cover off as well as the exhaust heat shield and give them both a respray. My radiator clamp/bracket is badly rusted/flaking though, anybody know where you can get a replacement for the MB's? They look different to most other Civic's but could be wrong?

Yeah I wanted front fogs to be one of the first mods I did but using original wiring looked really hard so I went off the idea. Some good info there though! First time I've ever seen somebody say how exactly to do it. Not to mention OEM fogs, brackets and wiring are almost impossible to come by now though.. Came across an old post here about somebody who wired aftermarket ones in a fairly simple way but by using the original switch, getting the switch and wiring from another car and connecting the existing rear ones and then the front one you've added. Sounds like it should work..? Thanks for for the comments Dave, yeah every time I'm doing anything on the car/looking after it I am also thinking in the back of my mind it's good that the car's been in the family for 18 years, so it's nice to keep that going! Your Aerodeck is a beauty yeah and what a great story behind it. Thanks Chandler, I think it looks better too, more higher-spec than what it actually is! Combined with the carbon effect interior and no more fake wood, that was a must have mod. A lot more modern. As for it being clean, has a slight dent on Nearside wing with some paint flaking & rusting, some damaged spots on front bumper & a big load of scratches on bonnet where a garage door scraped it Just don't want to fix that myself as it would be patchy aha

I'll get a new pic uploaded soon, it looks so much better with full colour matched handles/mirrors. I think it really looks a bit more upmarket etc - less cheap looking maybe? Spent last night vinyl wrapping some front fog light surrounds that I bought to replace the blanking plates when I get the lights installed. They were stonechipped and faded and it's totally bringing them back to life! Anybody still active on here who's put fogs on an mb2/3/4 without them? I'm currently waiting on some eBay ones to come back in stock.

Is the dash/centre console all screwed in tight? Probably not the case but mine was making a lot of vibration noise/tapping and I tightened all the screws behind the fog light switch, in the cubby hole under the ashtray etc and it sorted it.

Hi guys, thought I may as well make a thread for my little MB2 seeing as I'm here! Backstory - The car has been in the family from new. It belonged to my Great-Grandad to start with who then gave it to his son in law (my Grandad) who passed the car on to me in 2016 shortly before he passed away. I've only had my test passed for the last 14 months and so this is my first car! Therefore I'm trying to look after it the best I can and because there's so much that can be done modding wise, especially with it being the base model, it gives a lot of options. The car really hasn't done much mileage at all. I got the car on 80,000 and only sitting at just under 84,000 now. It's pretty standard, still on original steel wheels & ride height, got its fair share of scratches and slight dents but it shines up pretty well. The car has been reliable as hell for as long as I remember, so I'm going to just keep it going for as long as possible. I've really fallen in love with these MB Civic's and always had an admiration for Honda/older Civic's before this. In my ownership it has had the following repairs/slight mods with a lot more planned! - New standard exhaust back box because it completely blew through a couple months into driving it. - Full service in January this year, coolant etc last replaced in 2015 but low miles like I said - New Pioneer radio/CD player (went for CD not Bluetooth.. Yes I'm old fashioned!) - New wipers all round - New number plates - Original floor mats - VTI front lip (first thing I've ever sprayed up myself) - De-Chromed front grille (Vinyl wrapped) - Colour matched wing mirrors & door handles (One electric mirror wasn't working so took the chance to get rid of the black plastic all round) - VTI Carbon dash trim & gear stick surround - VTI Gear knob - VTI door tweeters (not wired in yet, got replacement door looms but can't unplug main connection so will have to cut into wires) - Wind deflectors - OEM mud guards/flaps fitted In the coming weeks/months things I should have done include front fog lights and something I've only seen one or two guys do, a Rover 45/MGZS boot lip spoiler. I'm just going to 3M tape this on once painted silver, because I also have a spoiler from a 1.4 sport that I need to finish painting and eventually get on. And I'm not really sure about having 2 spoilers haha! Also after a set of alloys, even the original 4x100 MB ones will do. Wouldn't mind getting a rear ARB on too eventually but need to mod/change lower control arms for that so it's a bigger job for down the line. Going to scrub away some rust and stone chip or underseal underneath & wheel arches in time for winter too. Seen some de-chromed headlights again recently and very tempted to buy some and do this myself! Thoughts and suggestions are very welcome & I'm glad to be on here! First couple pics are standard, last pic is how it looks now and one to show the test fit of the boot lip.

Yes.. Sorry if I was confusing. There wasn't really a set 1-2-3 when I removed mine it was just doing whatever got it off. the inner door handle should pop out slightly when you take the screw out and slide it backwards (I think) and you'll be able to see then.
