I'm trying to copy the mugen idea, and will be butchering the resonator (already part butchered) to act as the shield against drips and splashes.

I used a piece of the original dc2 intake pipe that goes to the resonator, that is a oval piece that goes into the airbox and changes into a round piece, and there I connect a round for the cold air.

Really happy with the feel of the airbox and way that the intake is. Feels like it had much more grunt lower in the revs, and has the easy revving that the throttle body brought.  I can feel and hear both vtec, and then iabs (really comes to life after that). 

Not sure if I'll bother with a metal tube :)

Cheers jake. Going back to thinking that the expanding hose idea is just temporary.. Feel like there's some more power / responsiveness to be had low to mid revs by having a 3" smooth pipe.

 

 The end of the pipe has a female rubber opening so am thinking of grafting the two end pieces together without the corrugated bit, and using either a bents section of metal pipe, or even drain pipe :)
