  2. He still gets grief from me about it. He's on to his fourth Shogun now. He loves sitting high up in them, but he still should have bought the Starion. They are just so 80s medallion man and hairy chest. I'd just drive around in it all with the chest rug showing covered in half a bottle of Sex Panther aftershave.

  4. Right guys, after the recent thread regarding stanced cars etc i have decided on a plan for my MB6. I was showing my mate in work the cars on the stanced thread and mentioned how much i love a deep dish! He then went on his phone and showed me Rota Grid V alloys. I had an instant trouser tent and loved the thought of my car with those on it. The wheels and thread got me thinking. The background to my decision; I have a wedding coming up in March...including a honeymoon to fund...and some credit card to still pay off. I had always planned to get a new car at some point (after paying off wedding debt), a car with power, like Subaru/Evo. Two guys in my work have recently bought Subaru wrx's and this put me off the whole fast car completely as its proved too common a choice. I really do like the MB cars, i always have. I feel that they are a practical, sleeper, reliable motor that i'm quite attached to and love driving! Some of you may relate to that, some won't! Anyways, i spoke to her tonight and said that i plan to take out x amount of loan to pay off my credit card and pay for the honeymoon to Mexico. Any left over i will spend on my car as i plan to keep it, as i have spent a few quid getting it modded to my needs. I sealed the plan by saying (in truth) that paying the honeymoon back when its been paid for on card will take the same time to pay off a personal loan. Sold! Car Plan Details; Meister R coilovers Skunk2 Front Camber Kit (cheap makes have poor ball joints that last months only) Skunk2 Rear LCA's & Top Camber Arms (apparantly cheap makes have cheap metal that shear) Rota Grid V (black colour) 16" Et20 http://www.ebay.com/itm/16X8-ROTA-GRID-V-WHEELS-4X100-RIM-0MM-OFFSET-FLAT-BLACK-FITS-4-LUG-MIATA-/330849999103 Tyres (size unknown for now) Arches Rolled and Flared http://chizfab.com/ (with possible golf mk1 arches included) http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/152787/fat-honda-mb6-vti Rear Spoiler + Paint http://www.nicedeals.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=5906 Nearly all of my mates are mechanics so i will bung one of them a few quid for their help to fit all suspension! The cost for all this is approx £2300. Coupled with all the brakes being uprated, rust free underneath and an engine that is looked after, it makes for money well spent if it lasts me another couple of fun filled years. Leaving the engine as it is..that would be a whole new money pit in getting some extra bhp! I am not going down the stanced route with mega camber etc. I want a flush look and able to drive it. The arches will see that i dont have to have it on its arse! Constructive critasism/thoughts are always welcome. Alastair

  12. The reason why you probably hadn't heard of the tires in the test results i posted was that they're all nordic/scandinavian spec winter tires which means they're supposed to be more capable in extreme conditions than the central europe tires the adac test covers. So if you need more traction, i'm almost 100% positive that the nordic tires will deliver more. Almost everyone uses them here instead of the central europe tires. Actually i'm pretty sure they will do the job and even better. Maybe the pic i posted distorts reality a bit, it's not always like that over here . I live in the south close to the sea and the weather can go from +5 to -25, to heavy snow, to slush, to black ice, and back to dry roads within one week. I've also used my conti's on dirt roads, as well as highway cruising in the summer and they've worked fine on all surfaces and conditions. Of course i prefer proper summer tires like Falken's etc. but high-end nordic compound studless winter tires are in practice very capable all-season tires. Now I wouldn't go vtecing through the twisties in the rain, but i think you get my point. I havent' noticed much difference in FWD cars in snow, conditions imho are the biggest factor. I used to have a 1.4 deck with studded tires (and without LSD naturally) before my MC2, and i think it was just as good in the snow, minus the ABS which i think is pretty useful when slippery. But vtec + snow + massive understeer can be quite a lot of fun, so i'd have to say MC2 is the best winter car i've had so far!

Its a shame i live at top of a hill and get very misty/foggy so vapour was setting on my car whilst i was buffing my wax coat but got a couple pics today after a top up wash! Should really get onto sorting those bumper holes out too!!! Lol What do we think lads? Two bucket autoglym wash, squegee and buff, claybar (for 3 hours!! Is it meant to take that long??) then autoglym wax and then final buff? Any tips if ive done it the wrong way around lool?

  17. Yeah I'm pleased with it! I've got a while until MOT for the front links and I'll probably get some tyres in January when funds allow a bit more! Need to pay off a chunk of credit card but I'm also going order a bunch of the cheaper bits when I get paid so I have something to go at while I'm off over Christmas!

  19. Yeah mate, i wanted to go for scooby wrx sti around 2005 plate but then scoobies are so common. I like the mb as its a wee sleeper and more of a hoot to drive in terms of revs, older car feel etc. Im going to keep mine n spend some dosh on her next year. The coilovers, wide arch kit / flared and rota drift v are a must i think. Going for looks again as the car is fast enough for me! Around £2000 should see the car a keeper.
