  1. Hi, it is Sue, Nicks wife. I hope you don't mind me doing a comment. I like to thank all of you for your support. This forem was Nicks thing and it is lovely seeing what he meant to people. I lost my sole mate the morning Nick died. My girls keep me going. It is so hard. I hope to meet some of you at the funeral, I wish we wasn't meeting in such a bad way.

  2. It's really nice to hear you in the forum Sue. I think it mat help you being in here too aswell as FB, as you'll feel the love we all have for Nick here too, and as always, we're always here for you if you need us. When I was reading the pm you sent me on FB, I was honestly fighting back the tears, really brings it all back to me about when I lost Dawn. Losing your soul mate is the hardest thing you'll ever have to go through, and it leaves such a massive hole in your heart that you feel can never be fixed. But through time with the help and support of your friends and family (including everyone here too), you'll find your way through it. And although a lot of people aren't lucky enough to ever experience having a soul mate, you can find love and happiness again through time and possibly a new soul mate. I didn't think it was possible, and not in the space of time it happened, but I did find love again and another true soul mate in @Gayle . She's really brought back the old me (not sure if thats a good thing! lol) and shown me that life is deffo for living, and you have to make the most of each and every day. It's the most difficult time of your life right now, but it will get easier, trust me. And Nick would deffo want you to be happy again too, because that's the kind of guy he was, always wanting/making people happy. I loved the prom photo you posted up on FB, know Nick will be looking down and be so proud.

  3. Ok, as most of you know, I've been debating which Honda to sell as I can't keep ip with trying to work on all 3 of them. The deck was always going to stay, so she's safe. So I had to decide between Ruby (Civic VTi MB6) and Lexy (Civic TypeS FN1), which one do I sell. The one which stayed was going to have to become my daily driver. But I couldn't decide, because I loved the thrill of driving Ruby (the fun and the power) but couldnt go back to driving her every day. And I loved the creature comforts, the safety, and the solidness of Lexy............But she just didn't have the fun factor having no power! What to do!!!? After a month of sleepless nights (seriously!), Gayle came up with the perfect solution! Sell em both and buy a TypeR! It made perfect sense, because with that I can have the best of both the MB6 and the TypeS all rolled into one! So, with Lexy traded in, it's time to introduce the new TypeR in my life, Roxy! one thing i was stuck on was what do we call her?? Then again, Gayle came up trumps! She's replacing Ruby and Lexy, so a combination of those two names would be perfect! Ruxy sounded a bit daft, so after more thought.....................Roxy was born! Ok, now the car. Shes a 2008 Honda Civic TypeR GT in Alabaster silver, bought from our Civic5 Official Traders Western Honda @ the Fort, Edinburgh. She's already got the optional 19" polished alloys, which really make her stand out. And although I wouldn't normally go out and buy a silver car (had a few before though), she looked stunning and a bit different to the usual red or black TypeR's. Ideally I wanted white, but silvers as close as I could get so yeah, well, chuffed. She also has the TypeR decal pack from Honda, so has the TypeR grill badge and quarter panel decals. Then the modding started!!! Oooops! Um, think I've broke her! First thing I had to do was install my double din touch screen Pioneer head unit I had in the TypeS. To fir this into these civics is a major task, as you need to dismantle pretty much everything, including the full centre console from front to back, and a lot of the dashboard too. And for some reason, i couldnt get the gear lever gator to let go of the gearstick, so had to cut it But this was always going to be changed for the nice new red Suede one I have coming for it. So, after much caffufle, the head unit along with the Sat Nav unit all fitted and looking pukka! Much nicer! So whats next? Well, first of all I need to get Ruby sold! I'm buys prepping her and detailing her ready for sale. Got a new front bumper sitting waiting to go on as her original one has scuffs on it from before I bought her, and thinking about just taking her MeisterR suspension off (the Deck has been eyeing these up!) and selling her for £1300 with standard suspension back on. Oh and meant to add, Roxy is going back into Western Honda for brand new rear brakes as they were an advisory on the MOT, and also to have her alloys fully refurbished. Steve at western agreed to have all this done as part of the deal, so alls good! Should be going in soon Future plans for Roxy are: Wind deflectors Red Suede gear gator Some wee minor imperfections on the bodywork fixed (stone chips etc) Tinted windows Possible induction kit for a bit more noise! Stainless steel Powerflow exhaust when the time comes to replace the standard one. Mudflaps (possibly)

  4. I'm still crossing my finger for you Grant. I think the real test will be nxt time you drive her sounds good so far though. Just to clarify - and this is a quote as I couldn't be bothered to write it all up To clarify the original question: 'Pinking' or Pre-ignition is when the temperature/compression combination within the cylinder is high enough to cause ignition of the fuel/air mixture, without the use of a spark plug. The main issue is that pinking tends to be uneven in its combustion with little micro-explosions. If this explosion occurs close to a surface it causes pitting, too much and it can cause the holes in pistons mentioned above. The pinging noise are these micro-explosions and the resulting shockwave they produce. It's caused by a combination of fuel/air mixture, temperature, physical layout of the chamber and compression ratio. Ignition Advance being too late is sometimes the problem on a good engine, but it is also often used to mask other issues, lean mixture is easy to spot, but others such as burrs in the machining of the components causing hot spots, are less so without disassembling the engine. Additionally if pinking has occurred, it is more likely to occur in the future especially where damage has resulted, creating more opportunities for hot spots. It is also more prevalent on boosted engines due to the higher pressures and temperatures involved. Fingers crossed Grant

  6. Oh I think I might just be out in front in that race........literally 'just' though. It's good to see @Dave finally happy and able to sleep. It was a real dilema for him but all it needed was a rational woman's mind - XXX

  7. lol @Gayle knows shes the number 1 babe! Already got the paint ready and waiting mate! lol Now just need to find the time @KiNK43 In a word..........amazing! The power delivery is quite like the MB6 in that its quite linear and progressive compared to say the B16, wjere all hell breaks loose when VTEC comes in. But it's just how quick it gets the speed up compared to the MB6, it's just so quick! I'm still getting used to the clutch, which bites basically as soon as your foot leaves the floor, whereas theres a bit more play in the mb6 so gearchanges are smoother. But I'll get the hang of it! 0-60 I think is 6.6 secs, and it hits the ton way quicker than ruby, so a lot of fun to be had. It also seems a lot more refined, the engine being really smooth. Suspension wise, a lot of folk have critisized the FN2 for being far to stiff, and I know of one or two that feel like back breakers when in them. But I'm guessing they may have had mods/stiffer suspension fitted, because although she's stiffer than the TypeS, she's still comfortable enough for day to day life. Gayle and I have put a fair few miles on her already, and it's been a really nice car to go a long journey in. Only really rough (and i mean mega bad) roads are when you feel it could have been made slightly softer, but other than that, a great all round drive. the one thing I love is no squeaks, rattles or other annoying noises, feels well put together. Fuel consumption wise, it's hard to tell yet, but it's looking like I'm gonna get 320 miles out of a tank. Not bad as thats a complete mixture of driving (motorways, A-roads, B-roads, city centre etc and also quite a few miles in Vtec). Could probs get more if I just did a bit more sedate driving, but gotta try her out eh! Oh, and insurance wise........only £77 more than the TypeS! Was well surprized! Which means she's still way cheaper to insure than Ruby. So should deffo save money long term by selling Ruby and Lexy and going for one all round car. @powerofdreams haha! Love it! yeah mate, really nice place to be sitting behind the wheel. All mod cons like dual digital climate control, auto lights/wipers, cruise control, mega nice bucket seats and lots of cubby holes/storage (which the MB is deffo lacking in).

  12. Anyone notice anything different?????? Much much much love for @Honda Paul for all his help today. And sorry the deck broke your tools, but she is hardcore Thank fuxk for that. It's finally gone. I think Pauls technical term was 'pinking' basically the valve still being slightly open when ignition is sparked. Resulting in the 'rattle' I had. This was due to an old, worn cambelt!! Well happy, an properly back in love with her will go for a decent spin in the morning, supposedly she'd have been down on power slightly .......

  13. I have a MB fweeend! I sold him the rear VTi-S lip and gave him the straight pipe I made. We fitted it to his MB6 and it sounds sweet! It's MAAAD in VTEC! Matey tried to create an account on here but seem to be getting errors?

  14. Fitted the new handbrake cables at my brothers garage adjusted them up and....... Still the same! One side does nothing and the other very little! Will be contacting the place who refurbed the calipers about it! Not impressed! MOT is up this week, would certainly fail if my brother wasn't doing it!

  15. lol way more than just! And it's all thanks to you I can now sleep at night babe! lol Yeah, the side decals and grill badge are not standard on them, which is nuts! But this came with both so must have had the options/accessory box ticked for the decal pack.

  20. Hmmm, It deffo feels a lot lot quicker than Ruby, and after the ton it just pulls like a train, which is fun! lol Plus Ruby has approx 169bhp (standard, but not had her on a dyno for a true figure) and the FN2 has 201bhp so deffo more powerful car.Got the red paint for it mate. The interior is black and red so thought the red would go with that. Going to prep them for paint and mirror polish the "TypeR" logo thats embossed into the calippers so should look sweet. I'm getting into this metal polishing lark!!! It is mate, and feels so solid too. The torque is a massive bonus! On the go, can be pooteling along in 6th and just put the foot down and she pulls away nicely. Even around town can just cruise around in 6th, sometimes not even having to downchange for roundabouts! Tis nice indeed

  23. Mate it's hard finding the right size of centre cap, as was said above some companies measure them differently to others which mucks things up. Best thing to do is do what i did and contact OZ wheels direct, letting them know which design of wheel you have. I think all the centre caps for one design of wheel will be the same regardless of the centre bore, so hopefully they should be able to help you out. Try here >>>> http://www.ozracing.co.uk/contact/request_form.aspx bud and see if they can help. Dave
