Can't believe you nearly sold it as well My car is giving me slight problems as well but you just gotta ride the wave of disappointment for a while until its all better again.....
  2. Have been using the second one for my future Accord project. Really handy!

    Cops

I've been pulled loads of times, only once in the MB for popping flames in the main street last year....hence Asbo. Last year I was in the works van picking up the nightshift service driver that was delivering a customers truck back. It was around 2am and on a duel carriageway heading through a wee town. The road narrowed into one lane and I overtook a red 53 plate Ford Focus on the chevrons, before it went into one lane. They flashed me and sped up behind me. It had one headlamp out and looked a pile of turd. I said to the driver " there's two people in that car and there flashing their lights like mad at me and chasing us". So I proceeded to run a red light and head through Strathclyde park (was a proper road through the park don't worry) and they followed suit. Once I came out the other side of the park there was a panda car waiting for me. I stopped and said "thank feck, there's some bell end chasing me through the park"....just as the focus arrived with two coppers in it. One female one male. I sat in the back of shed focus and then spat out my case; A. their car had a headlamp out and wasn't fit for the road so knew it couldn't possible be the Police B. their car was crap and I thought it was neds out causing trouble at 2am C. Driving manner was inflammatory. The woman got out and checked the headlamp and sighed. They checked my details and let me be on my merry way I am always polite in these situations as if I give them attitude, they could just conjure something up and do me for red light anyway.
  4. I had to laugh at Grants comment ref uber cool and scene points for ordering them. As if it's a thing someone would mention at a meet! lol lol Only choice for me was to order them as there the only decent ones that can be ordered separate. b****r going to Honda for them Do you notice a difference with the synchros fitted?
  5. I did check the how to section but thought I missed it. Reason I was asking is that I was going to do a 'how to' on the clutch replacement. Was just checking no-one had done one before as that would have wasted my time. If my pictures and explanation are good enough, then feel free to make it a sticky!
  6. Thank god for payday! Everything bought. Getting it done a week on Saturday Is there a 'how to' on clutch replacement on here?
  7. They are stronger made and meant to increase shift speedsl. Well that's what I read anyway! Honda are about £500 for parts as the synchros don't come separate. So I had only this choice really. Wasn't wanting an untested 2nd hand box. This way I know it's done and will last.
  8. Sooooo, I fitted my clutch master cylinder after I found out it was leaking and the rod was totalled. This caused the clutch pedal bite point to be near the floor. Once fitted, the pedal bite point was half way and no free play, which is good. But the damaged cylinder must have caused the clutch to not disengage properly causing the gear synchros to wear. I am getting tight gears at high revs in 3rd and 4th and even crunches when doing fast gear changes. Gears are fine in normal (town driving). Rather than take a chance, I shall replace synchros as this is the likely cause. Clutch getting done as it's pointless not too! Parts to buy within the next two weeks: Exedy Clutch (bought) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CIVIC-Exedy-Clutch-Kit-3-Piece-HCK2021-1-8ltr-04-1998-02-2001-/331151240121?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d1a26ebb9 Slave Cylinder (bought) 1st-5th carbon synchros (bought) http://h-tune.co.uk/mfactory-carbon-lined-synchros-honda-b16a-b16b-b18c-1st-5th.html Gear shifter bushes (bought) http://www.funkypower.co.uk/catalogue.php?make=HONDA&model=CIVIC&year=1996-00+CIVIC&level1=TRANSMISSION+%26+DRIVETRAIN&level2=SHIFTER+BUSHINGS&level3=&id_product=4229 MTF fluid (bought) Honda Bond sealer (bought)
  9. I'm sure there would be some people that are slightly apprehensive about driving abroad. Like driving on wrong side of road and with unfamiliar roundabouts, foreign signs, French drivers! You may take to it like a duck to water but for some, it may be daunting! There will be a lot of planning but I'm sure it would be awesome. I would be up for this and probably along with John (ruby) depending on dates and family circumstances though.
  10. I like the way the ideas are coming together in this thread. However, driving in France may put some people off. Especially the laws regarding compulsory breathalyser kit and reflective jackets, bulb box etc etc. I personally do not mind driving abroad but would I would not be as relaxed, as say, driving in the UK. We should be inviting our French cousins over to the UK and promote out fabulous country and the roads/scenery it has to offer. Only down side of that is the dreaded weather for organising such and event.
  11. Cool, I have my mate ryan checking the facebook for me for a decent sump (im not on facebook). Not a high priority but I like to get it done to be safe.
  12. Thanks for the reply guys, really helped me out. So I shall look for a b18c sump from somewhere else! Much appreciated
  13. Sorry, should have explained my madness! My mate has x2 spare B20 sumps lying around his garage
  14. Right Guru's! Does anyone know if the B20 CRV oil sump would fit a B series engine? I have been only told they 'look' the same but need clarification before removing. I had phoned Honda dealer but not been called back today. (was in my bed mind you) Have a porous sump and want to change before it gets worse. Cheers.
  15. I totally understand with ref to bulk buying, I work in a parts department and understand bulk discounts etc. Just a shame that Opie and the civic5 voucher is slightly more expensive than you buy from ebay and the likes.
  16. nice car and like what you have done to it
  17. It would appear that my comment did imply all traders but I was I fact referring to the main thread story. I was not having a go at all the traders. I was simply referring to Opie Oils having cheaper oil (without civic5 discount code) elsewhere. I saved money on my Meister R's with the club discount so I wasn't tarnishing all our sponsors. I felt that we were not getting a great deal with Opie Oils and was sharing my thoughts, as that's what a forum is for. We can't all go around agreeing with everything and nodding
  18. This does me: Attached it to the side of my centre (passenger side) console by lifting up the gear leaver surround and jamming it in
  19. Well it may appear that it ain't the gearbox as it doesn't crunch in 4th if your careful, as I've gave it a good run at the weekend along the country roads to my pals house, 50 miles away Fingers crossed it's just the cylinder. Shall keep posted. Helps others if they have the same symptoms as me if I come back with an answer.
  20. Weird though! Seems the civic5 discount is rather pointless IMO.
  21. Well the cylinder is leaking and rod knackered anyway so HAVE to change it. If problem persists then I may look at clutch/syncros. Not complaining as it's been/still is a fantastic car/buy.
  22. It was subject related so your ok! My mate welded the exhaust fine...I could leave it as it is....but because i'm a fussy fecker....I will book it in to get that full section replaced
  23. I would agree that you don't need to spend masses on this car to make it a hoot to drive. Induction kit....and that's all IMO. When you boot it and it howls away....that's all you need in life! My mate had a typhoon kit and it was the best sound I'd ever heard. He took me out in it and was driving normal (I didn't know he had just fitted this filter)...he got to a dual carriageway and floored it....I actually got a fright and then smiled from ear to ear. Fantastic wail of a sound. Tremendous
