Burbleboy's VTi-S Build **NOW SOLD 16/12/15**
burbleboy replied to burbleboy's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
That makes sense mate but I can't tell my work to try and put sealer on it (at my request) as they will turn and blame me for deviating away from Hondas recommendations. Best to leave them to try and seal it the recommended way -

I shouldn't need to as Honda don't do that. A rubber gasket is all that is required/listed from Honda. I have ordered a fresh gasket as the old one may be squashed, even though I torqued them to the Moroso spec. As it's booked in through my work, they should know the 'trick' to fitting such a gasket properly! Don't get me wrong, a sump gasket is an easy job, but for me to spend time and £50 a pop on gaskets and car off the road each time means I HAVE to get it sorted properly by mechanics! Nothing is simple! -

As I cant get it to seal for a 2nd time, I tried booking it into Western Honda but they gave me a date of 20th April and no sooner. So booked it into my work to get done. Only choice as I need my car and want it done right. -
Nice blue colour to match your engine bay

I am waiting on delivery of similar looking lights but to fit to my interior lamp somewhere. There led daytime lights from fleabay. Should be bright like those bad boys!

Total pain in the ar*e. Those turbo pipe plugs are a bad idea. I chose that sump as it had decent reviews and it was baffled. If anyone is thinking about buying a Moroso sump then I strongly advise against it. OEM all the way IMO. -

So I fitted my new sump on Thursday night; I tightened both the turbo drain plugs but one of them was still leaking. Had to re-drain the oil and put black gasket sealer on both of them. Put oil back in..... ....Oil leak from sump nut that is located under the flywheel plate so have to now take the manifold and gearbox brackets off again to get to it. what a pain in the arse this sump has been. Moroso should have better turbo drain/feed plugs. Utterly fed up with oil dripping and onto manifold and driveway. Basically got do the job all over again. And yes, I used the correct torque settings. God knows why it decides to leak at the most inaccessible nut known to man. :( -

I just changed the capless 501 bulbs in the back. x3 or 4 of them I changed. -
40's in my opinion WOULD be better, but for an all round profile, 45 fits the bill for better comfort on bumps and less flex than 50 in hard cornering. Bit of compromise really. My 50 profile did flex slightly on the track but still handled very well. I have to still find out how 45's will be on the track once my car is ready

Nice car! I had the same shape accord as my first ever Honda. Loved it. Like the fog light....never seen that before either

Thanks mate -
I've not had it on the track yet mate. Just had gearbox and clutch and new sump bought..so skint! I would imagine that the 45 profile WOULD be better than a 50 as there would be less flexing, giving more 'feel' through the corners.

Changed dash to some red led lights at the weekend (slight mod, nothing major) -
Sorry, been on holiday hence late reply here. I waited until the tyres were fecked before changing them. That way I didn't waste money. I learn from my mistakes/preferences as my car has evolved from being a road going 'to and from work car' to 'fast road' then to 'pure track' and now to 'track/fast road' setup. I'm a very fussy sod and unfortunately have to pay (monetary terms) for my fussiness Agreed. 45 profile is better for harsh roads and also better for track than 50 profile. 45 profile is a compromise between the two, especially for what I use the car for.
-
Good stuff mate! Glad my browsing had some use:)
-
I went from 17" to 16" as I felt the 40 profile tyre quite harsh. So dropped to 16" on a 205/50/16.....then dropped to a 45 profile for better handling (and less scrubbing) Trial and error IMO

Did erm, you purchase it?
