  1. OMG That is beautiful, LSD and 5.1 final AND carbon synchros! This car must be a delight to drive and will be quite the track car, with scope for extra power being added later on being dealt with via the LSD! <3
  2. Actually been swaying towards the mazda3 MPS to be honest, 5 door, LSD, leather, bose, but 260bhp/280lbft stock, with a remap and exhaust that becomes 310bhp/330lbft, unassuming and almost sleeperish, a bit niche and according to reviews quite a lot of fun, Skyline would likely have to wait till March or May next year
  3. Aaand update! Ran at Santa Pod and Dynodaze this weekend, didn't manage to get a good time at Pod due to tyre limitations and exhaust leak, best time on slip was a lowly 15.5 at 92 but with a 2.5 60ft, whereas my other runs were a 2.3 60ft but also.. 15.5! I think I ran 15.5 four times in a row but the 15.5 with a 2.5 60ft would equate to a 15.1 with a 2.3 60ft so not bad! Car made 196bhp/136lbft on the rollers, which with a manifold leak and dyno'd in a higher gear than it's supposed to (EP3s normally get dyno'd and tuned in 4th, mine was dyno'd in 5th) that's fairly bang on what it should be running, with a manifold leak anyway. Now.. I've had the car a year pretty much and I think it's time to move on, whether I sell it and get something else after show season, or SORN it and get something else I'm not too sure. I've done the N/A Honda thing now and boost is calling me back especially after spending a fair amount of times in turbo Nissans now. What to do...?
  4. His is still twin turbo and running baby power for a GTR (400ish) and he said it's not too bad on fuel especially on a run as it has really tall gearing but it's very very easy to come into boost and kill all hope of getting good economy. What surprised me is it's actually more civilised than the EP3 believe it or not! It has climate control, it's very comfortable cause end of the day it is a GT car. It's refined and the RB26 is very very smooth and torquey and it's just a really smooth way of going fast. When it gets into boost though my God is it quick! I wouldn't be able to daily it but I'd happily go long distance in the R33 over say the EP3.
  5. I can afford to insure an R33 GTR comfortably and running costs aren't actually as bad as you'd think was talking to my friend who doesn't use his daily anyway and it's no more expensive than a mid range BMW to run, as a note he's younger than me and can run it! It's when you chase massive power that it gets expensive but even with a stage 1 ~400bhp like his it's more than adequate enough! I'm toying with the idea of a 32 GTR but there were no UK spec ones like there was with the 33 so it's cheaper to insure the 33, plus although highly contested against the 33 is my favourite shape skyline!
  6. Funny you should say that, my mates just picked up this and this is why I want to change.. That is a 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R V Spec Series 3. And it is the best car I've ever been in full stop. No questions asked. After going in it and spending a full day in it including going to a GT-R owners club meet I'm tempted to join the skyline lifestyle. Words cannot describe how much of a perfect machine this is, where if I get an R33 GTST or an R32 or 33 GT-R (33 GT-R isn't actually that much to insure), I want one before I turn 23 (so till March), coupled with going in @Sorivity S14 I really do miss lairy jap boost. If anyone wants a breakdown/mini review on the R33 I can write one up but it is absolutely stunning. The Nismo wheels on it alone are worth nearly as much as my car! I have like 40 pictures I've taken of it, this example is absolutely beautiful. But yeah that's why I wanna change car, but I have a while longer to go with the EP3 yet!
  7. Yeah I wanna get it mapped once I do manifold and stuff, but for now I'm sure my manifold has a leak so I'm not expecting more than stock power anyway, although I'd like that! But I've been in a few cars recently that I want more than my EP3 so mapping is a big commitment.
  8. Hopefully should or hopefully shouldn't? And yeah I hope it makes good power, I'm aiming for anything more than stock as this is the first time I'm having it dyno'd. So 197 is the target
  9. Yeah it feels a lot more planted and definitely a sharper car to drive, massive massive difference! Also I recommend MTEC grooved discs and mintex pads to anyone, although the mintex's are noisy in town they're brilliant for stopping power, had to do my first emergency stop ever and even I stopped in a shorter distance than I was expecting to vs. the speed I was going! Everything in the back of the car became a front seat passenger Thanks man! Yeah it's all sorted. I'm planning to go Santa Pod this weekend and then getting the car dyno'd on Sunday, nice to see how much (or little) power it makes as I suspect I have a leaking manifold now

@Roj gets back in the country and immediately gets schooled. That's what you get for missing Japfest. Vai I can't wait to see this on track at Japfest2
  11. Thanks! Long overdue update! Since I had the clutch done in what is it.. January now, I've had a knocking noise coming from the front on hard launches and hard shifts, naturally I assumed this was a gearbox mount and upon inspection the rear engine/box mount rubber was gone and the mount was cracked, changed that for a new one but again the noise remained. As I don't do hard launches or shift particularly hard at redline daily, I decided to leave it but last week I decided to figure out the source of the problem.. and it wasn't what I expect it to be! The front anti roll bar bushes and droplinks were completely gone! I could move the front anti roll bar side by side and could see where it was hitting the chassis! To my surprise front anti roll bar bushes were cheaper from Honda than from anywhere else so ordered them in, then got them fitted! I decided to check my rear anti roll bar bushes and they were looking a bit worse for wear but as I have a JDM rear anti roll bar I can't use the bushes from local motor factors as the JDM RARB is 3mm thicker. I got some superpro poly RARB bushes and got them fitted today and I promise you it made as much difference to the car as changing the RARB did in the first place. It feels firmer, tighter and sharper and paired with the TEIN suspension it handles really very well indeed. So no more odd knocking noises and better handling. Good times.
  12. Looks mint after a wash, really do like the cosmic grey! Also I was browsing Honda parts for sale and saw an S2000 and the reg seemed a bit familiar.. Looked back at my japfest pics and.. Same registration batch and pretty much same colour, must've looked awesome side by side on the lot back in 2005!
  13. I have 205/45/17 rainsports with the XL extra load sidewalls, so they're stiffer sidewalls than normal rainsports but not quite as stiff as potenzas
  14. Uniroyal Rainsport 3's. I've ran several tyres over the years, P zero nero rossos, Potenza RE050A and RE050A2, Continental sportcontact3s and the rainsport 3s offer the best wet grip by a long long way (almost feels like you're driving in the dry), really really good dry grip and are really good value for money. If you have 16's or above I believe you can get the XL ones like I have (205/45/17 XL) which have slightly stiffer sidewalls and less give. Really impressive turn in too and as said above.. THEY HAVE SHARKS ON THE SIDE. I wouldn't run anything else but Rainsport3s having used them now (unless the 4 comes out), unless I'm on track then AD08Rs will always be my tyre of choice from what friends say about them. Also I can put the power down and not have to worry about excessive wheelspin etc, they just grip and go, survive well to a country road blast too

Don't forget to mention the black headlight inners, here's a pic I have of it , I look forward to this, please please turbo it!
  16. This is true, I doubt I'll go JRSC/Boosted with it though as I like the natural response of the K20, but I want the midrange punch a remap provides (apparently it's as much as +35bhp midrange and that's on a stock EP3 with a map not even one with mods/bolt ons). I've got the car handling how I want it with the JDM RARB and the TEIN springs (very good springs might I add), and I have a new clutch so I may aswell chase power a bit right? Car officially booked into tints next Thursday woo! And my Japfest entrance photo
  17. Thanks! I have to get a JDM front anti roll bar now to clear whatever manifold I get, Tegiwa is a good shout and yeah the gains from 2.5" exhaust to 3" exhaust is like 5-10bhp top end, gonna save up and do it all in one go I suppose! Modding EP3s stupidly expensive!
  18. All is well! So I've emailed my local well renowned tuner for the price of K100 + a map as well as a 3" exhaust (optional as I have a 2.5" exhaust but there's gains to be made I just need to weigh it up vs cost), also trying to find out what the best manifold would be for me, I want a PLM but they're USA only and the UK distributor for them is currently down so trying to sort that out! Aim is a streetable 230 on a low reading dyno
  19. No rattles or knocks and has been driving fine, just want compression checked for peace of mind, it made the journey back fine and was fairly economical surprisingly but again, just worrying me now and hopefully it hasn't damaged anything. It still pulls fine/hard in every gear I've tried so I'm hoping I caught it before it caused any damage! If all is well the chase for power will be on, prior to Japfest I was considering selling my EP3 for a Mazda3 MPS because of turbo and spec but now I feel like keeping the EP3 and making it a bit of a weapon - again assuming everything is fine with the engine!
  20. Well that's Japfest done, great day and was nice to talk to some of you, I apologise if I seemed a bit unapproachable that morning, 2hrs sleep + 2 1/2hr drive + a check engine light doesn't help matters... I thought the check engine light was cause of the sports cat, which it normally is for as it only ever comes on on the motorway but on the way to Japfest in convoy prior to the meeting point I missed a gear which meant the revs shot up past 9.5k for a second or two, managed to clutch in and rectify it but one of the check engine codes was for 'engine overspeed condition', which now has me worried. I made the 120 mile drive back fine though but it really put a downer on my morning, I'll try and be more approachable next time, I'm always less stressed at japfest 2 Anyway plans for the car now: Compression test to make sure I haven't messed anything up Car booked in for tinted windows next week finally! If all is still healthy, get a manifold, decat and K100 all mapped in Fit the carbon fibre bonnet - Friday 15th May 2015 - The day before Japfest Ah yes, the carbon fibre bonnet. I've had it sitting downstairs for a while, boxed, unopened and decided for Japfest I'd try and fit it. We unboxed it, it was perfect bar the fact it didn't have washer jet holes, but had little dimples where the jets would go so could provide a guide of where to drill. Got it fitted to the car, it had a catch on the bottom so I assumed I could put it on without the need for aerocatches... Bonnet off: New bonnet of.. sort of: I say sort of because.. the latch on it was crap. It wouldn't shut, no amount of force, swearing, adjusting etc could get it to latch on properly and shut.. so I'm going to go for the aerocatches route as I originally wanted to because this seems to be the only way to get it to fit properly. Atleast I tried so now I know, just gutted I couldn't have it on before japfest
  21. EP3 is one of the easiest cars I've wired a sub into (well I've only done 4 cars with two being the same model lol), really good easy earths to locate - I used the rear brace that goes along the boot floor, sanded a bit of the paint off and earthed it there, if you're at Japfest2 we'll have a chat then! The wind deflectors look good and are one of my fav mods, especially as my car has no AC so I could put the window down on the motorway on the way home from Japfest and let the cold air channel past the window, but also in the rain you can have the window down and keep cool whilst not getting the doorcard wet!
  22. Well @Roj didn't make it to japfest did he? Ah, thanks man it's alright for the mileage I suppose, could be cleaner though I had a few mods I couldn't get done in time for Japfest The headunit/centre console is very easy to pull apart, the trim around the gearstick is literally you pull it off with your fingers tucked (oo, er) inside the gear gaitor and pull towards you. The bit above with the heater controls etc you have to remove the heater control knobs (twist and pull towards you) then same as the gear gaitor bit, just pull it out towards you. The radio/headunit is screwed to the inside of the dash via a cage though which means no one can nick it, the stock headunit is the same! Hope that helps!
  23. This was the one parked next to my car (the black EP3) right? Looked so good and I remember it from Japfest last year! Was nice to see it there and sorry if I confused you when you were looking inside my EP3 I actually unlocked it and was gonna ask if you wanted to have a proper look, it's nothing special though! I really like the colour combo I never really thought silver and gold worked well till I saw it on your aerodeck and I like the blue fogs too
  24. This looked so so nice at Japfest bro! The DIY paint looked spot on and the ride height and the wheels and all the mods compliment it so well, definitely one of my favourite colour combos and cars on stand as I know the effort gone into it! Nice having a little talk with you too
  25. Cleaned it! Brimmed the tank, bring on Japfest!
