  1. Not cheap, but 18.5k miles Looks box fresh like
  2. Photos from our wee trip to Myreton Motor museum in Mindy our MX5. We decided on a nice run to Dunbar via the coast road, so taking in Longniddry, Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick then Dunbar. This is a tiny wee museum based in East Lothian just outside Aberlady. The building(s) are basically in the middle of nowhere, but it is sign posted well! Lots of classic cars in various states of repair, some wearing original patina, some restored or part restored. Also lots and lots of interesting stuff including a history on Jim Clark. Also motorbikes, memorobilia and anything car related. Great wee place and well worth a look. Entry is just £7 for adults so quite reasonable, and you can be in there as long as you like. Excuse the photos, just took them with my phone! Customized 1980's Fiat X/19. The paintwork on this is amazing, multicoloured metal flake! Old Citroen is in beautiful condition. As was this wee beauty! Only done 1800 miles if I remember rightly! Always been a sucker for old Fords! Love this, so cool! And this wee pair were in stunning condition! Amazing how small both of these are compared to their modern counterparts. My favourite Rolls Royce, the Silver Shadow (series 2 I think?) Mini Innocenti replica Jowett Bradford van. I knew Jowett made the Jupiter and Javellin, but never knew they made a van. Unusual and very nice condition. Sunbeam Rapier. I used to love the shape of these when I was little, my uncle had one in metallic turquoise. Was a stunning car back then! Got a thing for old Humbers like this too.........look so much like a 57 Chevy or 57 Plymouth Volvo 340, used to be such a common sight on our roads. This ones a nice 1 owner low miler. Then on to upstairs! Lots of memorabellia, bicycles, pedal cars, toys, petrol ration books and so much more! Bugatti pedal car!! Would have loved this when I was a kid! Although I did have a Mini pedal car which was really cool! And Mindy, sitting relaxing in the sun before the second part of our run.
  3. So, as I've been ill recently (had a heart attack while working in the garage) I'm not allowed to work on my cars until I recover. Well, decided to build the suspension on the MX5 (aka Mindy), fit the brake discs and calipers, oh and respray the car! Not the real one of course! I was lucky to get two identical models of the MX5 for my Christmas (one from Gayle and the other from my eldest stepdaughter Jacklyn and her husband Marc) so decided to chill out and build one of them. Model is 1/24 scale by Tamiya Got some parts painted prior to building. Brake discs with red calipers, exhaust, shocks with red springs (slight deviation from the instructions but just my preference). Also did front and rear wishbones, front rear subframes and all other parts. Detailed the underbody tub, so exhaust, petrol tank , bottom of engine etc all done. Rear suspension etc all ready to build Front suspension all built and added to tub. Rear all built and ready to fit Interior painted and put together. Really proud of my wee wood look gear knob! Mixed various colours to try and get the right look! The body required sanding down with fine wet and dry as there were a lot of casting marks that I wasn't happy with. Decided to buy proper "Mazda Classic red" paint from Halfords (part of my ocd thingy!) Resprayed the body, but not too happy with the finish so that will be getting done again. Even though I used paint prep wipes, and a plastic primer, the paint seems to have reacted with the plastic so truned out pants (well, in my opinion anyways!) so deffo redoing that. Final pics are of the completed model. When I build the second one, I'm going to use a different glue too as the one I have is also crap, quite stringy. Anyway, totally enjoyed building this, really theraputic. Looking forward to the second one! Oh, I haven't put any of the number plate decals on as I'm making my own (which will be same as Mindys!)

  8. Noticed recently that members who have posted images that are hosted on photobucket now have a generic image from photobucket inserted where their own image was (like photos of cars in members project threads have been replaced with an image stating " upgrade to third party hosting"). ive been onto my own photobucket and have used the normal link for posting images in forums and it displays fine? I gather they have changed the format of the links slightly so that previously posted images now dont display? Can you take 5 mins to check photos youve posted from photobucket and if you see the "upgrade to 3rd party" image instead of your own image, try copying your images link (the one for forums) and posting it again to see if it works?

  11. Anyone know if the retractable parcel shelf from a deck fits in a 5 door MB?
  12. Hi all, My name is Twan, 26 years old. I'm an automotive student. I've bought this Aerodeck a month ago and i'm having fun working on it. Wondering if this forum is still active and if there are perhaps other Dutch members. Glad I found the forum though, it has already proved helpful in a few research occasions. When I started studying I sold my car (used to own a BMW 3-series) because I was sure I wouldn't be able to afford that car anymore. Soon enough though my hands were itching and I wanted a car that was easy to work on and parts should be inexpensive and readily available. Hello Honda! As a tall person I wasn't digging the EK's but the 5 door hatchbacks seemed more my thing. My aim is to learn about the car and to have a more practical approach to some of the classes I study at school. I like the engineering part but I also love getting my hands dirty. I bought myself an Aerodeck with around 220.000 km on the D15Z8. It had a little work to be done and I've made pretty good progress in the past month. First thing was thorough inspection and treatment of rust. The car has little to no rust in the rear, just some surface spots up front. The underside had a couple small holes in it which I cut out and welded some new material in place. Upon removing left front panel there was a tonne of dirt coming out which made me wonder if the previous owner was into offroading. The wiring harness from car to door was also unfortunately cut by one of the previous owners. After the rust was taken care of I gave the car a brakes refresh front and back. Last but not least all fluids and filters were refreshed. I looked into the engine through the spark plug holes with an endoscope and the cylinder and walls looked pretty good. I've also managed to rearrange some of the wiring in my door to get the speaker to work again, the central locking mechanism for the drivers side seems stuck so I'll have to fix that. Only other thing to find out is a humming/droning noise i hear when driving 70-120 km/h so I suspect a wheel bearing might be going out. Today I found some OEM rear roof speakers for the car and installed those and I've replaced the door moldings which should keep as much water as possible out of my doors. If the car proves to be trustworthy I'm going to save up for some coilovers, rims and alignment. In the meantime there is enough crap the previous owners messed up that I'm planning to fix and clean the inside of the car thoroughly.
  13. Spotted this near ocean terminal. Green mb6, lowered, bronze alloys, stainless exhaust. Didnt catch the rdg nut looked mint! Anyone here?

  15. As above, anybody doing anything exciting this year? Now the year long January is out of the way, how do you think 2018 is stacking up so far and what have you all got planned for the months ahead? I've just booked myself a track day at Spa in October, I'll do a few shows and hopefully treat the cars to some parts too! My plan is to be broke....a lot
  16. Just found this useful info on Type accord posted by smokingman http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/24255-new-mot-may-18/#entry252409 Major changes to the MOT test on 20th of May 2018Some of you may have already heard that there are big changes coming to the MOT test this May. Here are just a few of the biggest changes that are most likely to affect you. Please take these with a pinch of salt as nothing will be finalised until the end of April and will probably still be subject to change after that date. Remember it will take your MOT tester time to get up to speed with these too!So...Advisories are being replaced with minor fails. These are all pre written & approved by DVSA. You will still get a pass but they will be noted on your test certificate. Manual advisories are still being worked out but may disappear completely. Those of you who have changed your standard headlight bulbs for HID's will now get a major fail even if the aim is correct. It has always been an offence to fit HID bulbs to halogen headlamps so the MOT is now in line with that.Reverse lights are now part of the MOT for any car registered from 1st September 2009 (59 plate onwards). Daytime running lamps (DRL's) & front fog lamps must work on vehicles registered from March 2018 (18 plate onwards).Engine Management Light is now a major fail. It must come on with the ignition and then turn off when the engine is started.Brake pad warning lights are a major failHandbrake with excessive travel is now a major fail. Before it would only a fail if there was no reserve travel.Contaminated (dirty) brake fluid is a major fail. Not sure how that will work as the MOT tester isn't allowed to remove the fluid cap.Oil leaks (engine, gearbox etc.) can be a major failure if they are deemed large enough. It seems they have removed the failure for tyres not being fitted according to sidewall instructions. Inner/outer or rotation incorrect.Any modifications/removal to emissions related devices, this includes DPF'S and EGR's is now a major fail.Where a DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded, it will now fail.A vehicle fitted with a DPF that emits any kind of visible smoke during the metered test will now failEmissions limits for diesels registered on or after 1st of January 2014 have been reduced. All diesels will now need to pass the limit that was set by the manufacturer when the car was new. This can be found on the VIN plate. For example the current limit for your diesel car may be 1.50. That could change to as low as 0.30 with the new rules. These are just some of the bigger changes to the MOT test the average motorist is likely to be affected by. There are dozens, perhaps even over 100 changes to the actual MOT test and to the way testers record tests on the MOT computer. Please remember these are all subject to change in the coming months and remember spare a thought for your MOT tester before you say..."Well it passed like that last year!"Source - https://www.gov.uk/g...e-emission-data

  21. browsing autotrader last night (as you do) and found a vti mb6 and a vtis mb6. Prices are bizarre! first the vti.... The ad is gone today, but it was up for £2100 with around 60 odd thousand miles on the clock. was standard, looked ok but think price was optimistic. And now for the absolute dreamer.... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201701221560630?postcode=eh331hp&maximum-mileage=60000&radius=1500&sort=price-asc&onesearchad=Used&advertising-location=at_cars&aggregatedTrim=VTI-S&model=CIVIC&make=HONDA&minimum-mileage=45000&page=1 bargain eh! Funny thing is though, although those prices seem high to us, for some reason its ok for a 3 door ek4 to have well over 130k on the clock and have a price of £4000! 4k for a car thats not as well equipped, with less power and common as muck. Ah, but its all about the "JDM" (when most were built in Swindon!) Yo! Car prices are just wierd at the moment. We keep looking for a classic such as a ford escort mk2 or a capri, but they are just fetching crazy money now, even for lowly rusted models.
  22. until
Hi guys. Ok, quite a few have asked when are we going to have the memorial meet/run again, so looking at what members have posted dtaes wise, we're going to have this on the following date: SUNDAY 20th AUGUST 2017 (Time tbc) We've changed it slightly (was Dawns memorial meet previously) but as we lost long time member (and my best friend) Jim last year to cancer thought it would be fitting to have the run in memory of them both. Jim was at every St Marys loch meet, and loved it as much as Dawn did. Will be strange for me with him not being there, but know they'll both be looking down on us all having fun. If it's your first time on the run, you're in for a treat. Starting in the town of Dalkeith, we will be going on some amazing roads (check previous videos) and will be having a few photoshoots along the way. As always, we'll finish up with a stop in one of the beautiful Scottish borders towns for food and refreshments and a good old bit of banter. And I promise I won't get a puncture this time! lmao please click on attending etc if your coming along. link to main post >>>
