Hey all! 3 years SORN... 😢 Got some cash, grabbing some MeisterR, getting the speedlines refurbed and power coated in championship white and... AD08RS... is what I'm going for... right? My beloved VTIs only goes out in summer on dry days, gets jacked, alloys off, battery out, garaged for the rest of the year. So I want great tyres that get love in use and wrapped up out of use. Anyone got any insights? I feel Yoko Advan AD08RS are legit tops, heritage dispite the drop in performance from the AD08 days, but lacking Toyo R888, anyone know of better and why? Any suggestions or fanboy throwins welcome ❤️

So how many lambda/02 sensors does the MB6 Civic originally have? My car had aftermarket exhaust system since i got it, so i have no idea what's the most ideal/original position of lambda/02 sensor. And also does it originally come with 1 or 2 sensors? If 2 then where does the other one go to? I've never had OEM cat so where does to 02 sensor go to? I know that there is supposed to be at least 1 sensore before the cat or at the cat... Does the OEM header/exhaust manifold have o2 connection or was it directly on the cat itself? I have aftermarket header with plugged o2 connection and the lambda is currently connected directly to aftermarket cat since it already had a connection to it. But is the best place for the sensor at the end of the header pipe before the cat starts? I'm asking all of this because i have constant issues with high emissions. I'm trying to rule out things. ECU could cause all sorts of readings depending on the set up... Right now i'm going to replace the rusted header if that helps. If the header leaks somewhere, it could lead to surprisingly big emission issues. ECU for instance could assume that the engine is running too lean, and compensate it with more fuel so that it runs rich... Has anyone changed thermostat, coolant/radiator cap, coolant temperature sensor? Many people here have issues with emissions on B18c4. So did any of those things fix the issue for someone? Or does the car need a OEM cat? ECU issue regarding non-OEM parts used? These cars doesn't seem to like some of the aftermarket parts if i'm not wrong...

Hi there, Hope everyone is good? My mechanic was telling me that he thought my 1998 1.4 MB D14A8 5Dr Civic is Ulez charge complaint for London driving as he thought Honda worked ahead of time to improve their engines emissions but the government TFL website says that it’s not compliant. I’m a bit confused about the issue, does anyone know how I can check if its compliant or not? The TFL website says that to prove its compliant I need to: “To prove your vehicle meets the ULEZ standards: A letter from the vehicle manufacturer's homologation department stating the vehicle's Euro standard or a conformity certificate” https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/compliance-registration/before-you-start I was trying to look in Hondas website and I just saw this page on COC’s which says if the car was made in the UK after 1995 you should be able to get a COC which are charged at £175. https://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/certificate-conformity.html So am I being naive or is all I need to do, pay Honda £175 and get a COC from them and that should be enough to prove it’s Euro 4 compliant and then if TFL register the car then we’re all good and I can keep the running the car in London? Does having a COC mean that the car is automatically Euro 4 emission’s compliant? Or is that just one part of a bigger puzzle? Not really sure what to do, any ideas please Cheers

A whie since I posted here, but the Vtec-e has continued to reliably trundle the motorways of the UK and rack up the miles (even managing 15k during Covid 'lockdown' year) ! The time has come to retire the car as it needs way too much in the way of repairs and rebuilds to get an MOT and carry on for another year. It's a shame, as the engine still returns over 50 mpg (60+ with new plugs) on a long journey and some would say it is just run in !! What is amazing is that the Honda garage diagnosed a noisy alternator bearing at 17000 miles and recommended replacement - but it has lasted this long ! In case any MA9 owners are wondering, the only other parts worth salvaging are 4 good tyres, and with a weeks MOT left, it can be driven away still. I'll try and get some pictures up later. Pete

Greetings from a new member in London. It's good to know there are others interested in these cars. I have always liked the look of these. In my opinion, both the exterior and interior look a lot better designed than similar cars of the same era. I also know that the engines are extremely dependable if maintained. I live inside the area where the London Ultra-low Emissions Zone is due to be extended out to in Oct 2021. Unfortunately my current non-Honda car will not comply with this zone as it is too old. The age limit is after 1st March 2001 for petrols and after 2017 for Diesels. I am looking for an MB Civic on a Y Plate (after 1st March 2001) as that is the only reg that is new enough to comply with the ULEZ rules. I know there are a few out there as I have seen some for sale and on the road, but not many. So far, all that I have seen on Y plates have been the 1.4 Sport model with a manual gearbox. There are also some Aerodecks around on Y Plates. I regularly check ebay to try to track one down, but have not yet come across a decent one located near enough. I did go to have a look at one but was put off due to rust around the driver's side rear wheel arch. Hopefully I am able to eventually find the right one.

So, how's everyone getting on with the new way of life? Personally I'm working from home, but then have been most of the time anyway for about 6 months so no big change there. Will be interesting when the 'home school' starts next week though. Hope that everyone's well and keeping in touch with the world however they can

Hi all, Just wanted to ask that everyone is aware of bikes (pedal and motor) at junctions... Especially this time of year. Because of the small front area it's hard to judge how quickly they are coming towards you. Last night someone wiped me out at a crossroads in the middle of Newcastle by turning right (slowly) when I was going straight ahead. Luckily I've escaped with bruises and a cracked carbon fork, but someone less able to bounce would have been much worse. The same applies on fast roads with motorbikes, but the results are much worse, as they will be doing much more than the 20mph I was doing. Cheers guys.

Browsing ebay and found this. Looks amazing condition with only 18.000 miles on the clock, two owners from new. Very hard to find one like this, but don't think I could justify.........£6495 for an MB6! Still, would love to own this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Civic-1-8-VTI-Very-Low-Mileage-ONLY-18K-Service-History-Lot-of-paperwork/233074530457?hash=item3644531899:g:VQUAAOSwTY9buQTO:rk:4:pf:0 Pic of the car

They seem to get good reviews but just wanted to know if anyone on here has got/had one and what they are like to live with in the real world! Anything to look out for? known issues etc etc?? Thanks

Just found this useful info on Type accord posted by smokingman http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/24255-new-mot-may-18/#entry252409 Major changes to the MOT test on 20th of May 2018Some of you may have already heard that there are big changes coming to the MOT test this May. Here are just a few of the biggest changes that are most likely to affect you. Please take these with a pinch of salt as nothing will be finalised until the end of April and will probably still be subject to change after that date. Remember it will take your MOT tester time to get up to speed with these too!So...Advisories are being replaced with minor fails. These are all pre written & approved by DVSA. You will still get a pass but they will be noted on your test certificate. Manual advisories are still being worked out but may disappear completely. Those of you who have changed your standard headlight bulbs for HID's will now get a major fail even if the aim is correct. It has always been an offence to fit HID bulbs to halogen headlamps so the MOT is now in line with that.Reverse lights are now part of the MOT for any car registered from 1st September 2009 (59 plate onwards). Daytime running lamps (DRL's) & front fog lamps must work on vehicles registered from March 2018 (18 plate onwards).Engine Management Light is now a major fail. It must come on with the ignition and then turn off when the engine is started.Brake pad warning lights are a major failHandbrake with excessive travel is now a major fail. Before it would only a fail if there was no reserve travel.Contaminated (dirty) brake fluid is a major fail. Not sure how that will work as the MOT tester isn't allowed to remove the fluid cap.Oil leaks (engine, gearbox etc.) can be a major failure if they are deemed large enough. It seems they have removed the failure for tyres not being fitted according to sidewall instructions. Inner/outer or rotation incorrect.Any modifications/removal to emissions related devices, this includes DPF'S and EGR's is now a major fail.Where a DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded, it will now fail.A vehicle fitted with a DPF that emits any kind of visible smoke during the metered test will now failEmissions limits for diesels registered on or after 1st of January 2014 have been reduced. All diesels will now need to pass the limit that was set by the manufacturer when the car was new. This can be found on the VIN plate. For example the current limit for your diesel car may be 1.50. That could change to as low as 0.30 with the new rules. These are just some of the bigger changes to the MOT test the average motorist is likely to be affected by. There are dozens, perhaps even over 100 changes to the actual MOT test and to the way testers record tests on the MOT computer. Please remember these are all subject to change in the coming months and remember spare a thought for your MOT tester before you say..."Well it passed like that last year!"Source - https://www.gov.uk/g...e-emission-data
