Try cox honda (think it's cox honda!) as they are usually good for spares.

Sorry for the late reply mate. Does the car run hot after a certain amount of time/miles every time. Does the temp gauge sit at normal temp then suddenly go high, or does it just keep rising once the car is started. Alternatively, does the temp sit below where its meant to but the engine overheats? Has the thermostat been changed recently? I'd suspect either the thermostat is duff or the coolant system needs bled. Cheapest fix is changing the thermostat so would always start there. These have been known to be a pig to bleed sometimes! The other fault I'm not too sure on, you've mentioned a few of the possibles already so concentrate on those first and work from there. Faults can be a mare to diagnose because these aren't the usual OBD2 so can't plug in the diagnostic to check what the fault is. I'm sure it will be something simple as the D series engines are pretty unburstable. You could check the oil filler cap, see if there's any "mayo" on it which would deffo indicate failed HG, but highly doubt it on one of these. Hopefully someone will jump in with more answers on that fault for you.

Only way really is to raise it a bit or go for airbag suspension mate.

mc2 1.8vti aerodeck front shock replacement
mc2hammer replied to mc2hammer's question in SOS! Help!!
thanks Simon ð yes looking at the rubber parts, found the parts for the top e.g. Items 9 & 6 , struggling with the bump stop ATM, Item 11, PN 51722-st3-e01. -
Diagram and parts numbers all here dude https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/CIVIC-AERODECK/1999/VTI/STEERING-BRAKE-SUSPENSION/FRONT-SHOCK-ABSORBER/17S1E01/B__2800/4/8427 Rubber mounts are probably worth doing Don't forget mgzs / rover compatibility for suspension if you don't have any joy using honda part numbers

about to replace front shocks on my aerodeck 1.8vti. looking at the haynes manual, there appear to be quite a few parts in the strut assembly, was hoping to retain as much as poss, but are any of these likely to need replacing also, as well as the damper ? will inspect before replacement and replace any that are not re-usable, but would be useful to know in advance any parts that are likely to be shot given the age and mileage. so I can get these on order, or at least locate a source for a possible replacement. I have had both struts out before to change the top BJs, all appeared ok then, but could be a different story when I disassemble the strut.... I guess a honda diagram of the strut assembly plus part numbers would be useful, will see if I can find online, unless someone has to hand ? cheers for reading folks

MB2 K-Swap Civic project - from base spec to race spec

A day of ups and downs working on the MB2 today Managed to do the last few jobs to get the engine ready to install. However, try as we might we just could not get the engine to go into the mounts, despite everything going ok. After about 4 hours of swearing, hoisting the engine up and down, and tilting it evey which way we could think of, it would just not go into the mounts and the aux belt and pulleys kept getting snagged After giving up and looking on the internet for advice I found that the right hand (drivers side) engine mount supplied was the wrong one. Our looks like this with the "cradle" coming out the side of the mount But it's supposed to look like this with the cradle on top! Because the mount fits to the car and the rest of the kit is correct we didn't realise for an embarassingly long time. Never mind ... I will complain and hope to get supplied the correct part as soon as possible For now this is as far as we've got ... So close but yet so far ... -
Looking forward to seeing this and tubs in the metal mate!

Quick photo from last night. Looking forward to the suspension refresh and getting this thing slammed. Other news - carpet and some dash trim is out ready for welding.

Looks mega! That ac delete plate looks alot smarter than the bung I 3d printed haha -
Yeah think the alloy suits! In a OEM+ kinda way. Gonna look ace once everything's sorted

Started getting the bumper fix under way.. It's made out of fiber glass, but the biggest issue is going to be the return underneath that's not really there any more... Should be like this.. So I taped it together in place with masking tape, the duct tape on the back, so that it was all in the right place, then drew around the bottom to make a template of the splitter Waiting for some glue to go off on the wooden template, and haven't had much time after work, so that's probably it for tonight

Shifter mounted properly in car and cables routed. Some hacking up of the console will obviously be required but I should be able to have all the dashboard etc back in Shifter cable plate in place - still needs a bit of work to get the other two bolts mounted and enlarge the hole in the grommet slightly. It's sitting at a less than ideal angle but it was the best placing we could come up with - the DC5 shifter cables we're using are on the shorter side Air con delete block off plate fitted so no huge hole directly into the cabin! -
My D16W4 aerodeck has developed a few issues recently, considerable loss of power at higher rpm all of a sudden which has only gotten worse, and stalling when the brakes are applied hard at low speeds as well as just driving it gently and then rolling to a stop the idle drops hard and almost cuts out or it just cuys out, it overheated yesterday morning and cut out in slow traffic after about 10 minutes at 60 on the dual carriageway, limped it back home once it had cooled down and didnt seem to overheat after but I havent driven it since except just to try and diagnose whether the stalling at low speeds and braking is a vacuum leak on the brake booster, booster vac line or master cylinder even but the booster seems to be working alright and the vac line from the intake still has vacuum so im guessing its not the line or the check valve inside. Would be great to determine if these issue are fixable without too much headache (hopefully not headgasket causing the overheating). Any help at all is appreciated, I really would love to keep the car on the road and usable as its only on 128k miles and if its too much of a headache i'll have to shelf it and use it for a more serious project (maybe a k swap)

Cheers @dan1I quite like the look of the black steelies, but the alloy on the front is from a set of 16s that were on the wife's first accord she had, and I think that looks canny as well. Not sure yet.

That looks awesome! Think the bumper suits with the spoiler. Love it. You got any plans for the wheels?

You can't really tell from the pics how grotty the interior is/was, but it's starting to come up nice. Used some leather cleaner on the seats yesterday and the filth that came off them was amazing. Still need another go and conditioning, but well impressed with how well they've come up. Not sure what to do about the bumper yet, as it's pretty bad with a big section missing... Tempted to go dial it back a bit with the bumper, but it does look cool on the import photos

Some photos from when we got it on Friday..
