Vtec-e retires at 305 k miles
15vtec-e posted a topic in Chat LoungeA whie since I posted here, but the Vtec-e has continued to reliably trundle the motorways of the UK and rack up the miles (even managing 15k during Covid 'lockdown' year) ! The time has come to retire the car as it needs way too much in the way of repairs and rebuilds to get an MOT and carry on for another year. It's a shame, as the engine still returns over 50 mpg (60+ with new plugs) on a long journey and some would say it is just run in !! What is amazing is that the Honda garage diagnosed a noisy alternator bearing at 17000 miles and recommended replacement - but it has lasted this long ! In case any MA9 owners are wondering, the only other parts worth salvaging are 4 good tyres, and with a weeks MOT left, it can be driven away still. I'll try and get some pictures up later. Pete
Patrix posted a topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MCHi, my name is Patrick, found this Forum yesterday, I own a 1.5 Vtec-e, not the fastest one but drives very smooth. it has only 125.000 KM on the clock. Only put it closer to the ground and made it a little nicer under the hood. Second car is a Toyota Starlet (1985)
Gusdolding posted a topic in Chat LoungeHi, I have recently bought a 1996 N reg MA9 which I really like, has been lightly modded but I'd like it as stock as possible seeing as it is the eco model (already very impressed with the MPG for something so old, has done over 200 miles on 20quid of fuel) It has some kind of cheap aftermarket induction kit installed. Does anyone know where I can source a stock airbox for cheap? Or if anyone knows any other models that use the same airbox, can't find on internet (seems pointless having an induction kit on the economy vtec-e d15z3 engine and the MOT is soon and don't want it to fail on emissions)
Here is a funny story
Boosted posted a topic in Chat LoungeI've been trying to get the two screws at the top of the ashtray mount for months now, I'd turn the screwdriver left (righty tighty lefty loosy) and it would just jump out of the screw.. Today I was ranting about it to my girlfriend and she tells me: "have you tried turning it right?" I look at her like "wut?" I mean righty tighty lefty loosy right? Well not today. I tried turning the screws right and it worked.. it bloody WORKED! I've been trying to undo those screws, stripping them out for months. when all I had to do was turn the screwdriver right.. I'm not even mad..
Speaker adapter rings - help a newbieHiya team, I've just inherited a lovely little MA9 1.5 here, and it still has the original speakers and pioneer head unit in it. Other half is keen on good tunes, and so I thought I had better do some upgrading. Looking around on various topics I see that Astra H type adaptor rings can be used to adapt the OEM 6in speakers to take some 6.5 ones. 2 questions: 1) Are these the adapters in question: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Astra-H-Corsa-D-Speaker-Adaptor-Rings-Front-Doors-6-5-165mm-SAK-1400-/370910867648 2) Has any body seen a how to guide to do this? Looking at the pictures of them I would imagine you'd need to flip them over to accommodate the large speaker facing into the cabin? All help much appreciated, Magnus
