I was a bit dubious about sanding the colour too but aslong as you get a good few colour coats down, then as grant said 1500 wet n dry (keep it really wet! Very VERY lightly rub over just to A. Get a smooth surface for lacquer to sit on and B. to remove any gloss finish from the colour so the lacquer adheres properly!!Good few coats of lacquer after that but make sure its proper clean before any paint is put down!! I brake clean it, rub with blue tissue then brake clean again then air line to blow it all off bone dry!! give it a crack anyone who weary of it... If you have something that NEEDS painting instead of just getting it done pro have a go first... Then if it goes wrong a pro can still do it anyway lol4 points

thats the car booked in for a 4 wheel alignment on Tuesday, best get my wheels on this weekend then and hope the rain stops!3 points

Of what day?? Huh?? Lol. Wet n dry paper you mean?? Yeah grade 1500 or above. (The higher the grade, the finer) and then clean with either some brake cleaner or pre paint wipes. Then i always blow over them with a heat gun.3 points

The MB3 got a present today. Can you guess what it is? So a while ago I bought a Gruppe M replica intake pipe off a mate. Over the past few weeks I've added a cone, silicone bits and a Fearless.. sticker from Shafz. Today it was complete so I shoved it in the MB3. Peekaboo! It was originally in my mate's EK4 so I figured it'd fit in the MB3. Well it kinda did! It's resting on the coolant bottle a bit but that's actually positioned it in such a way where it gets plenty of air from the gap between my headlights and the bonnet. And no induction kit is complete without a bodge of some kind, so here's an elastic band keeping my intake secure. I've already taken it out for a drive and holy crap it sounds good now. Almost like a B-series.2 points

There's a plastic thing that pushes into hole in wing. Bit like a wall plug you would use to screw in a wall in your house. It stretches out a little when screw goes in2 points

I think it sounds sweet on that vid! Too loud? I don't have that problem because I wear hearing aids, if it gets too much I just switch the hearing aids off Loving the drag prepped EG2 points

You're starting to go through that stage we all went through (I'm going through that stage now) A few modes will sort that out. 4-2-1 manifold along with a de-cat will free some horses Or with a bit more effort, a mini-me head swap with a P28 ECU. Or even better, a B18 engine conversion or just go nuts and get a K20 twin turbo1 point

sorry for no picture's of late, had a few busy day's, picked the car from the bodyshop on wednesday night, and then went to bed. thursday was an 8hr day, got home about to go back out to photowhore it and the phone went, work colleague was washing his car (ford orion with a 1.8 zetec swap) and had washed the engine when it decided to not start. went out and towed him in with mine, and spent the rest of the night sorting it. eventualy found the jet wash lance he'd used had blown a multiplug apart killing the power to the engine. ending up getting fed at his place, came home and went to bed. today, 10hr shift ending with me finding a trailer with the roof weatherstrip at the rear missing, so the roof was gonna blow off, got home nearer to 7pm than 6.30, got home to find a house full of people planning my next weekend for me..... don't worry sunday is safe..... few more photos from the other night, the wheel's are gonna be going on this weekend, can't wait....1 point

I beg to differ. If you want lows and want to stay reasonably comfy, that's what they cost. To me it's well worth it.1 point

Hopefully so, I'm in enough trouble for buying them but explained they're cheaper than a pair of tyres every 6 months.1 point

There are some cheaper unbranded ones on eBay in a variety of colours. I think they're about £45-50.1 point

See there's always a way around these things! "Sorry officer, I didn't realise my car was so loud, the batteries for my tabs are flat!"1 point

Top job man!!!! I'm getting more confident to paint stuff myself after seeing all you lot doing it. So you sand the colour then just lacquer over it??1 point

that sounds amazing! don't blame you for wanting it quieter, I would want mine to sound stock for long runs and how it is now just for when I want to boot it.1 point

Was gonna share some pics from yesterday but all but a few have turned out a huge blur for some reason. This is one of g786 drag cars. One of the fastest fwd in the country. Under 9 seconds 1/4 mile. Some crazy engines all over the place. On the rocker cover is vtec solenoid blank. His big power engines have vtec rocker arms and all the gubbins removed. Don't know what was in this but it sounded like an absolute beast! There also a BMW specialist. Obviously.1 point
