  1. And thats why it absolutely rinsed Car of the Year

  2. Well the idea is that the air/fuel mix is detonated at just the right time to create the most efficient use of compression and the mix. If its way out then some problems can occur. Suppose the biggest being Detonation. As the fuel could be ignited whn the cylinder is becoming smaller the explosion will cause a huge shock to the piston, rod, bearings etc. To check. Bridge the diagnostics connector to stop the ecu tinkering with it. Then use a timing light. There's a 4 marks on crank pulley. Tdc and 14,16,18 degrees before tdc. 16 is optimal. I wouldn't be concern about it even if it is out. ecu can compensate. And it's not like we're boosted up or anything

  3. I think it's going to be a case of trying to roll the front arches some how :/ as with the inner arch... Well... There isn't much of that left anyway due to scrubbing already! Will get a picture up if the weather is ok today to show how much room I actually have between the arch and tyre on the front. I can't get my little finger or my willy in there.... Safe to say, that's a small gap!! More parts came yesterday Cheers krzys for the edit it's annoying trying to Upload pics now :/

  8. LOL it clearly say "it was 4 or 500ml can too" Must Try Harder.......
    2 points
  9. Exactly that. 4 x 500ml, I should hope you'd have a bit left over from that. As Jake said the lower the number the more coarse the paper, 400 or 600 should be coarse enough to take the shine off and give it a key then move up to 800 and 1200, wipe it with a degreaser, whack some primer on, let it dry, hit that with a wet piece of 2000, allow it to dry again, wipe it with degreaser, light coat of paint, leave it 10 mins, slightly heavier coat, 10 more mins, heavier again coat, when that's dry wet 2000 again (lightly) dry, wipe down and lacquer building up again.

  14. More planning while I'm skint due to my circumstances . Thinking of redoing my front grill. My plan is to fit RED mesh to it and rewrap the H in black.( don't know how this will look so how requested it in the photoshop thread) hopefully get a idea there how it'll look. As well as that. Thinking of STEALING maz's mod with the mouldings and carbon wrapping them. Thinking bout the door pillar trims to but unsure on that. See how I get on with the mouldings. (Soz maz lol.) Getting my mg spoiler painted. (Plasti dip). Windscreen sun strip (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honda-sun-strip-windscreen-banner-decal-/170688196890?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27bdcf311a) Carbon wrapping the sun visors Carbon wrapping some more plastic bits inside ( dash surround and on the bit where the dials sit if u get what I mean.) Tinting the rest of the windows ( quarter windows already done for anybody who ain't b following lol) Gear stick gaitor. ( wanting the red stitching one from ebay) Fan blades. ( we won't mention these to much tho lol rrrrr) Vti-s lip kit Cup holder for armrest Fix front bumper Rocker cover.( powder coating. Black with red honda) Paint some items red under bonnet. (Radiator support, battery clamp etc) That's it at moment. Have decided I have far to much time on my hands to think bout s**t at moment. Better thinking bout good stuff like my car and bike and family than dwindling on the fact I ain't working.

  22. Indeed that does sound Geekarama, far to complicated for my current brain cell to comprehend, what with my current quandary of a boost or a topic. Day 2. I have de chromed the grille black and pewter on the 'H', de badged the rear end, that was a mission, the last time I did that was on my old Mx3 and she looked better for it, much WD-40 and foamy liquid on that, badges are mostly in tact other than the CIVIC one which seemed to want to fall of, polished up the buff and we are done with that, need to remove the rear tailgate chrome but having removed the 4 screws and grab handle it won't seem to budge, with my luck of late I will end up breaking something so I figure I will mask off the area and spray where it sits. I have put off the fuel pump until I have a day when I don't need to use it, safer that way, I can only think that a ball of fire is a grand way to go, but not today. had a Twix. Tomorrow, front bumper removal! Expect crying and gnashing of teeth......

  29. Im not so sure cos of the wheel design that bronze will suit it? Anyways today ive rubbed down the primer on trim pieces and going to get some silver spray from Halfords to spray up the trim pieces. Also going to have a go at cleaning up the haze from the lenses of my headlights and see how easy it is to get the foglights from clear to yellow. Was going get yellow bulbs but they do look better of the foglight lenses were yellow already!

  33. The bigger the number the finer it is. It's all about sandy bits per inch. So 180 has 180 coarse bits per inch. 1200 has 1200 finer bits per inch. Something like that anyway

  34. I think to keep it simple I'd get my brother to do those jobs at the same time on a ramp if/when he can! Need them doing before MOT time along with rear tires but I've got a bit of time yet! Be nice to have a knock free drive though!

  36. Just read your through your build mate, amazing job so far buddy! working very quickly on it with some excellant quality parts. Very jealous of the coils especially! The wheels came out awesome, really fancy doing mine that colour now too (mines a silver deck). If you do the chrome PB then do the rub strips the same (unless they already PB) and that would look sweet. If they are standard black plastic then do the chrome satin black. Just my opinion tho. Keep up the great work bud Dom

  40. Ok got all the bits for the stereo now though i take i quick photo of the unit, cant install it till we pick up the car on saturday
    1 point
  41. New bits! These went in already: Except for the rotor, the screw was absolutely and utterly stuck! Will need some special moves to get it out. I've never changed the leads, rotor or the dizzy cap (had the car for 5 years now), so thought it was about time. Especially for the cap, the plastic cracked around where the screws go in when i removed it! I haven't given her a proper trashing yet to find out if the power curve has smoothed any as some people say Magnecors + quality plugs will do. And do you know what's cool? When the doorbell rings at 9 in the morning, and there's a courier with a big box and you haven't got slightest idea what he's hauling in until you open it and remember it's some tuning bits you ordered in the middle of the night a week earlier! Energy Suspension motor mount inserts (evil cat not included!). Hope these'll eliminate the massive wheel hop i get during quick launches. In addition, i've got a pretty good sum saved up for something big! MeisterR's? Complete new exhaust? New wheels? I also need a cam belt replacement soon so maybe new cams and gears and a tuning session...? So many options to waste my hard earned money on! Thank god for a proper hobby.

  48. As above quite common heat shield rattle. But you learn from your mistakes, I wouldn't be able to change half the stuff on a civic if it wasn't from having a go and making mistakes and learning from them!
