Tried the grabbing and shaking, no noise. Just Aiken it all apart though and noticed that the end that meets the mani was slightly bent. So bent it back and have out it back together. Also think that as the decat (adjustable when bought and came in 3 pieces so welded to fit) is probably 10mm too short which is obv pulling the rest of the system up. Any way, put back together with adjusted flanges, will go out for a drive shortly. Dinner with the wife beckons now. Which bracket so you mean simpo?
-
Yeah that could be it Nick. Although, even when the rest of the exhaust isn't attached there's no play. So I'm thinking that the decat end that links to the mani isn't big enough in diameter. Not sure whether to give in and put the standard mani back on, I have a couple of hours to play with it now so we'll see.

Cheers mate. Have you got a 2.5" collector on yours? And is there movement on the spring bolts?
-
Decat went on at the same time Nick. Wouldn't be surprised if it's knocking a little as there is no play in the spring bolts at all. Wife has taken it to the gym ATM so will look at it when she gets back. Ah thanks for the heads up! But the design might help being that it's slightly baffled. Phil, yes I did get the ring in there, it was a pita! But either way, can't stay like it is, far too loud lol.

Oh dear. That's no good. Good job he's let you sort it though. Insurance would've cost you more in the end.

Yeah it's a 4-1 chaps. Which I know are loud anyway. Just didn't think it would be this bad lol. Like I said, hoping the cat will make a difference. If it does, I'll look at getting one of these I think, look like they have some baffles in. http://bit.ly/1hV13we

So spent the afternoon whacking this on ... All went swimmingly, all bolts etc came off fine etc etc. All good right??? NO!! Think it the decat rather than the mani but the noise is horrendous! Pootering along at normal speed is absolutely fine, infancy while driving off my estate, didn't sound any different, was impressed. That was until I climbed above 2500 rpm. And there's the problem. That horrible tin rattle :-( just what I didn't want. So, plan of action tomorrow, see if by putting the cat back on, if it will fit, reduces the noise. I'm hoping and thinking it will. But will obv restrict flow, so possibly a sports cat or a silenced decat rather than a straight cut 2.5" will be on the cards. On the up side, all fucking hell breaks loose at 5800 rpm
