Most of the time the coppers wouldn't notice a small profile or width change, I think it's for the more obvious cases.

If you were missing the trim to chrome strip would be missing too as that's part of the trim that the plate is screwed onto.

That's probably the only tyre properly fitted that would have less grip!

I measure the thread showing between the lock rings. Think when I had them on mine I had something like 60mm showing, was about a finger gap between tyre and arch! Not scraping

Think I paid £25 for mine, didn't even need the red key which was a bonus as mine didn't come with it! I used 3D autokey but I don't think they have a branch down where you are!

Not to mention that it is just stupid really given the tyre was never designed to be fitted like that....

As far as tyres go, spend more and enjoy not worrying about grip over the winter months! Uniroyal rainsport are supposed to be quite good in the wet without breaking the bank!
