So after some looking around which seemed for eternity I finally picked up a VTI Aerodeck. All the cheaper ones went so quick and so saw one on Gumtree that had been there for a while but was up in Dewsbury, a good 3 and a half hours away. I had originally wanted to wait until my CRV had sold but I thought to just go for it and stop procrastinating. On the Saturday my father and I set of at 7:30am to head up and look at the Aerodeck and basically buy it. I had a agreed with the seller that I was going to come up and was very interested. The problem was that after committing to the journey the seller had also committed to getting it through it's MOT no matter the cost. The original agreed price was was £1300 which was I would think mid range price range as I had seen them go as cheap as £550 and as high as £1800 dependant on condition and spec. This one was at 63,000miles in Baikal Green but had been stood for a year, with that I was dubious but went anyway. Got there and I went against all the buying conventions, not seeing it first, raining and the car was running. So I couldn't tell the condition of the body or engine - grrrrrrr. However it did pass it's MOT so it was legal but it had not been cared for as it was stood for a long while and the seller was a builder/joiner by trade and used it for work purposes. Reason he was selling was that he had a fall at work and was not able to drive a manual car. After chatting and looking over it and seeing what needed to be replaced or fixed and my dad spotting a dodgy tyre and getting him to replace both rear tyres we agreed a sale on £1200 also including a full replacement interior, door cards, carpet and Powerflow mid section and back box. I don't mind a little project but there is a long list, especially after looking at it in the cold light of day! Drove it down from Dewsbury and I must say it is a really nice engine, pulled well and sweet through the gears. Probably the best engine in a car that I've owned so far. It's a nice comfy ride albeit the bounciness and the skittishness of pulling away hard - hopefully that's down to the tyres. Anyway here's some pics: Bad drivers window rubber and suspected worn teeth on the regulator. Random coloured driver's side wing mirror - cracked! Mash up heater vent! Sunroof seal tatty! This is the state of centre console - was ripped out due to screws rusted. Here's some good bits! 64,000 miles (after driving it back) Nice and clean... from a distance! Finally here's a to do list! It was done after spending Sunday morning fitting the new interior... well the rear seats - was way too cold to do the fronts and carpet! Parts needed: Drivers wing mirror Passenger wing mirror glass Drivers side window rubber Front passenger window rubber Plastic cover under steering wheel Middle vent Armrest console Grab handle screw covers x 3 Floor mats Rear load replacement carpet section Rear side covers Rear load cover New tyres x 4 (maybe!) New spare wheel tyre Tools New car key New alarm system or new fob Sun-roof rubber seal Original air filter box Front passenger lower fog light Passenger front headlight washer jet surround Passenger upper wish bone Bodywork to look at: Front passenger wing Drivers front wing rust coming through Other things to do: ABS light Handbrake light Check steering componentsOnce writing the list it has put me off a little as I really wanted something cleaner and more complete BUT I am determined to save it and have it back to it's original former glory. Just have to get on with it even if it I've got most of the parts on the way from a local Aerodeck being broken for parts, so means a weekend full of cold tinkering. It's a daily so I'll be finding little things wrong and also finding awesome things about it. Future plans (that are not basic upkeep and fixing) MGZS rear ARBClay and polishCoilovers probably Meister or BCHave a look at possible wheel options. Will hope to update regularly, hope I can save it too after initial high purchase price. Cheers Jason1 point

Figures sound good, trying to get it slightly higher then this as I've now decided to go for 12.1 or 12.5 pistons on stock rods to bump up the compression slightly. Also purchased a RBC intake too. Hoping for around 260 BHP and 200 Ft Lbs of Torque. Exhaust wise, I will most likely go custom 3" or if I can get my friends EP3 Skunk 2 Exhaust 70mm off him that would do me! I am looking into a set of drop in cams too, either TDi or similar but at the moment the cams are on hold as most require uprated springs and retainers and after including cams that's almost another £1000 or so! Starting to get expensive. Simpo the cheap of doing it is to get a K20 engine with a knock and use the head and bits and pieces. The expensive part is the ECU and mapping. In an accord you won't need much at all.1 point

So had a rather successful weekend with a close friend this weekend, Managed to get my apex type 2 front mount fitted! With neither of us having any experience on a Silvia OR a turbo car, we were in the dark with this one! Starting at 10am and finishing at half 5, outside in the cold with a head torch thing, ran into many problems, took us over 2 hours alone to get the front bumper off. problems getting just 1 side light out (just 1?), had to fabricate 2 small brackers (maybe 10cm by 2cm) <-- took 45 mins and broke 3 drill bits??? Not currently finished as we ran out of light, its all fitted but have had to purchase a new intake as i cant run the stock airbox as the piping is in the way! (great excuse ) have still got to refit the wheels, remount the horn(s), re-fit bumper sidelights and headlights. soooooo the car is sat on the drive for a week on axle stands. car is idling very lumpy as too much air too so not really been able to test it out but doesn't seem to be any leaks or anything as of yet have also added a photos of when it was washed on Saturday and of the dash, still not finished hopefully have it done next weekend1 point

Hello! Lately I do not have time for the car, but the project continues .... 2 days ago I noticed that my windshield was cracked and it will change .... As I prepared with some clips ..... If some of them break (which will happen) hahaha Here are the numbers of the original ones, if someone need it .... 91508-SM4-003 CLIP, COWL TOP 91515-SR3-000 CLIP, RR. HOOD 91511-ST3-E00 CLIP D, FR. WINDSHIELD SIDE MOLDING 91505-ST3-E01ZB CLIP, LINING *NH120L* For red, no number, because generally sold as a kit with several clips.. Like these:http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-DCJ100090 Like these:http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-DCJ100100 Also decided to change the hoses for the washing system! With cool blue ones with inscriptions samco (probably will get over 10 horsepower) hahahaha .... I do not like the original, especially in winter, I feel that it would break so hard getting into the cold weather ... p.p.For tires .... for several months no problem, either dry or wet ... Much quieter than Debica Frigo 2 .... And much better behavior in the wet ... For snow are just wonderful, no problems ..1 point

Correct it is Midnight Blue, only 3.3% of silvia's made in 1998 were Midnight Blue so becoming a rare colour! Actually have done something i didnt tell you all, have taken out the wooden dash covers and is currently sat in my utility ready for a coat of laquer after being sprayed black. so will be gloss black dash instead of the vile wood. made me feel old! Thanks for all the positive comments, gives me even more motivation (PS, what would be the chances of me getting on your stand with this motor?) CLIO EXHAUST IS BLOWING SOUNDS SICK ---- literally. it sounds dog awful.1 point

K24 is awesome, I envy you so much. Here's an inspirational dyno. But for this motor, 3" exhaust system is a must.1 point
