Nice for something good to come out of it then ey. That sucks.. Hope it doesn't take too much to get it running sweet again.

Sorry to hear about the redundancy mate, hope it works out with the new business What happened to the head gasket?

My eg was that way around as well... Was good for being able to indicate for an overtake and change gear at the same time

I suppose, as far as width goes it has to be related to the width of the wheel you've got, coz that's what the tyres been designed to run on.As far as the 'height' of the tyre, then you should be able to get fairly close to the original tyre and wheel combo... Once you start getting too far away from that Diameter it's going to make your speedo wrong, and i think that would have caused a problem with an eagle eyed copper anyway, even before they started looking at stretch?
-
surely if the overall radius of the wheel and tyre is in the same region as the original spec then there won't be an issue?

Once I've changed a few bits to stop the little oil leaks, i want to clean it up and get bust with the polishing again to get back to this

Looks that way doesn't it! Same as ignoring the blocked drain all through the hot dry summer, then spending 2 hours in the cold on Saturday with my arm wet up to the shoulder scooping out gravel and leaves! What a numpty

quick update.. had half an hour or so free on Sunday, so cleaned the throttle body with spray in cleaner, and have been running with fuel system cleaner in since... running nice and smooth and idling nice too... would be nice for a mini service to make the most of it. also finally got around to fitting my powder coated mani heat shield and anodized radiator stay, and gave the bay a quick rub down with wd40 to make it nice and stinky when it warmed up. I know, I know... this thread is worthless without pics... I'll get a couple when I get the chance.

Easiest thing to try first is cleaning the channel and spraying some silicon lube in there.
