    she was mucky before we left, that was after around 1k miles of motorways little vid that the missus took while we were on a day out... nice road, shame it was tossing it down. IMG_2264_zpsbf4096f3.mp4 and this was a Leon with wheels that I probably wouldn't normally like, but really suited this Car..

    2nd - 4th have all effectively been shortened by the s80 final drive (improving acceleration), and the longer 5th is better for cruising. sure about the change points.. I wondered about that myself. I think that it's assumed that it's the best time to change gear for maximising power and torque, and improving acceleration Thing is though it doesn't know what engine it is, and obviously we'd take it up to the red line pretty much. reckon that iabs opening around 5-5.5k would be ideal to still get decent economy on day to day driving, but give you more uumph when you need it.

    gear ratios from the team m factory gear calculator... left are standard taken from the cars.homenetcs site, and right are what I've got. and the graphs showing the ratios... red lines are s9b and blue is mine. according to this, at 110, the change from 4th to 5th would be a drop from 8300rpm to around 5300rpm.

    so first real long run since getting the gearbox work done yesterday (trip down to Leeds with work) and think that I might have noticed a theoretical problem with the ratios.... I imagine that if (for example) you were to take it to high revs in 4 th, then there would probably be quite a drop in revs when you change up into 5 th.... especially if it were to happen on a hill and you had a lighter flywheel... it would probably still pull alright, but there would probably be a surprising drop in revs that doesn't happen anywhere else through the gears... probably.

    the nuts on these wheels need a little tool thing, so they're pretty safe, and myoem wheels are starting to look well past it, so they should be safe (fingers crossed...)
