  6. Hi All, Figured I should actually start a post after years of lurking on here - A big belated thanks to all the various threads I've read up on! Think I did post up a 'Hello' thread years ago but it seems to have disappeared. I've had the car for about 5 years now and its a proper joy to drive. Thought it was just because it was my first car and having nothing to compare it to, but after driving/having other cars these Hondas are fun! Only recently started modifying it properly now the insurance isnt shafting me! Mod list: VTIS Front Lip & Skirts (Have the rear lip aswell but prefer it without) Optional Extra OEM big fogs! Leather Steering Wheel - think its the VTIS/Sport one? Honda alloys off an EP (I think) with Toyo Proxies CF2's Heko Wind Deflectors 2.25" Gravity Performance Spoon N1 rep stainless catback Exhaust (For an EJ/EM - just had to lengthen the backbox pipe) - with custom baffle as its too bloody noisy, should have gotten a smaller tubed exhaust! MGZS shocks & springs all round Future plans: Double rear fogs - in the blank space on the tail lights. Coilovers - The car is sitting high at the front with the MGZS setup, the D14 engine is too light for the springs really. When I swapped the suspension from the stock setup the rear dropped 25mm but the front remained the same, I even tried ZS120 springs but no difference. So it'll be nice to even it out and lows! New LCAs & MGZS rear ARB - Ive had this for about 4 years now waiting to go on! The MB2's LCA's dont have the bolt hole needed for the ARB's drop links annoyingly. Need to pick up some EG LCAs but will sort the coilovers first so the shocks fit onto them. Front Strut brace. K&N panel filter (waiting to go on) Rear wiper delete (waiting to go on) Vinyl wrap the chrome trim. Projector headlights (have a spare set of lights just need to get projectors etc) Various maintenance (timing/clutch). Dreams: Respray Engine swap Cheers, Dan
  7. Hello all Haven’t been part of a forum for a very long time, but thought there might be some helpful bits I’ll find whilst doing work on the car and need to find on here too. Last car s**t the bed on me and I needed something reliable and somewhat cheap to drive, plus it had to be something I’d enjoy driving and owning, all on a not very large budget. Searched eBay and auto trader for anything Honda and looked at a few different chassis until I came across the mb2. There were a few around but all more money and worse condition than I would have liked, or literally the other side of the country and I didn’t have time to drive that far to get them. Settled on a blue 1.4s mb2 that was around the Leeds area so not too far from me, garage guy wanted a grand, decent condition, few decent scratches too, 56000 miles and no history. Perfect for me. Went to go see it on the night time as only time I could go due to work, car was filthy, oily handprints all over it and didn’t start because of a flat battery. Not a promising start. Test drive was a bit lacklustre, was used to driving a mk1 Octavia vrs so it was a super slouch in comparison, true grandad mobile but instantly I wanted it. Pointed out a few bits on return and said “800 good for you?” He said yes. Few days later I looked in the boot and found they’d left an Autotel code reader/multimeter that’s about £150ish, didn’t know if they’d left it in there so I could clear the eml light on the dash that appeared on the way home but that’s what I stuck with Didn’t take any photos of it before the AliExpress parcels started coming in so I think these are the earliest After it’s first proper clean and wax, paint is in lovely condition, pretty sure it’s a dead man’s car, garaged and lightly used. Alloys are wrecked though, heavy corrosion and really badly brush painted where they’ve flaked. I do quite like them though so I plan to refurb them and paint them myself when I get a bit of time, tyres on the fronts aren’t too bad, rears are ancient. Obligatory Mugen pedals and spoon shift knob, mats are from an ep I had made years ago Whale p***s was free from a friend and HKS filter was from Ali, along with the Mugen socks, Password washers, Mugen rad cap and oil cap, and the oil catch can too. Bit of an awkward fitment for the catch can but it’s tidy and it works.

  9. I was looking at my MB2 the other day when I noticed that half my bumper grille's are covered, of course this is on every MB2 at least but I didnt manage to find any reason as to why this is a thing. Anything I should know? Can I simply remove em or should I keep em on? Thanks in advance!
  10. just taken my trans off as i’m replacing the clutch and flywheel on my mb2, anyone got any ideas on the torque specs for the flywheel and pressure plate bolts? or where i could find them? thanks in advance
  11. Hi all, Recently discovered that my D14 is a lot healthier than I originally thought. The only concern I have is that there is an excessive amount of white smoke from the exhaust on the overrun from 6K down to 3.5k rpm. To add to this I'm having to bleed my coolant once every couple of weeks due to the idle beginning to fluctuate like air is getting into the IACV. Brand new IACV a few months ago. Was looking at swapping the head over anyway, What's a direct bolt-up fit? And what's the best gasket to use? Engine is not boosted, and won't be but is running 108 crank hp, up from 90.
  12. Hi everyone, long time visitor first time poster , I have a 1997 MB2 base model with a d14a8 in. Over the past few month i have been preparing the car as a track car. I have done a reasonable amount of work onto the d14 (Cambelt, aux belts, valve lash, oil change, z6 intake mani, cold air intake, new fuel filter etc) however, recently it has felt very down on power and the car is vibrating a lot. There is no audible knock or rattle from the engine however when doing a routine check i discovered metal filings on the dipstick. Rather than plowing more money into a d14, which other D series would be a straight swap? I know its not as simple as that but I'm looking to do this swap over a weekend with a few a mates. I know the mechanical aspect of doing a swap very well however I am completely clueless with what to do with the wiring. Can anyone give me some ideas?

  15. Hi. I need to replace the suspension of my MB2. I'm thinking of putting KONI Sport from an EK, because there's no KONI for MBs anymore, and I want something a little sportier for him. Do you know if it will work well on the MB chassis? I don't want to put coilovers, because in portugal it's illegal and my MB2 is my daily car.
  16. I have an 1999 honda civic sport (mb2) and want to install a cold air intake but i cant seem to find any. the ones i have found (from sk imports) dont appear to have anywhere to install the airflow censors as far as i can see and the description is very vague thanks in advance :)
  17. Hi guys, thought I may as well make a thread for my little MB2 seeing as I'm here! Backstory - The car has been in the family from new. It belonged to my Great-Grandad to start with who then gave it to his son in law (my Grandad) who passed the car on to me in 2016 shortly before he passed away. I've only had my test passed for the last 14 months and so this is my first car! Therefore I'm trying to look after it the best I can and because there's so much that can be done modding wise, especially with it being the base model, it gives a lot of options. The car really hasn't done much mileage at all. I got the car on 80,000 and only sitting at just under 84,000 now. It's pretty standard, still on original steel wheels & ride height, got its fair share of scratches and slight dents but it shines up pretty well. The car has been reliable as hell for as long as I remember, so I'm going to just keep it going for as long as possible. I've really fallen in love with these MB Civic's and always had an admiration for Honda/older Civic's before this. In my ownership it has had the following repairs/slight mods with a lot more planned! - New standard exhaust back box because it completely blew through a couple months into driving it. - Full service in January this year, coolant etc last replaced in 2015 but low miles like I said - New Pioneer radio/CD player (went for CD not Bluetooth.. Yes I'm old fashioned!) - New wipers all round - New number plates - Original floor mats - VTI front lip (first thing I've ever sprayed up myself) - De-Chromed front grille (Vinyl wrapped) - Colour matched wing mirrors & door handles (One electric mirror wasn't working so took the chance to get rid of the black plastic all round) - VTI Carbon dash trim & gear stick surround - VTI Gear knob - VTI door tweeters (not wired in yet, got replacement door looms but can't unplug main connection so will have to cut into wires) - Wind deflectors - OEM mud guards/flaps fitted In the coming weeks/months things I should have done include front fog lights and something I've only seen one or two guys do, a Rover 45/MGZS boot lip spoiler. I'm just going to 3M tape this on once painted silver, because I also have a spoiler from a 1.4 sport that I need to finish painting and eventually get on. And I'm not really sure about having 2 spoilers haha! Also after a set of alloys, even the original 4x100 MB ones will do. Wouldn't mind getting a rear ARB on too eventually but need to mod/change lower control arms for that so it's a bigger job for down the line. Going to scrub away some rust and stone chip or underseal underneath & wheel arches in time for winter too. Seen some de-chromed headlights again recently and very tempted to buy some and do this myself! Thoughts and suggestions are very welcome & I'm glad to be on here! First couple pics are standard, last pic is how it looks now and one to show the test fit of the boot lip.
  18. Hi there, me again! I've come to sip from the fountain of knowledge as usual. So as you, I was thinking about ways to make my car better, and since my MB2 has been K-Swapped I was thinking it maybe a good idea to do more improvements to the braking. So I already got EBC discs and yellowstuff pads on the front and braided lines on both the front and rear, but now I'm thinking it maybe a good idea to do a disc conversion for the rear and then get EBC discs and yellowstuff pads for those too. I had a look around the forum about this sort of thing and I looked at the list of interchangeable parts, but from my understanding going from drums to discs requires a full hub conversion. So if anyone is experienced in this field I would like to find out what all of my options are; so from which cars can I swap rear discs into mine from? I am aware that MB's that have discs on both front and rear ususally come in the configuration of 262/260 front/rear or 262/239. I would assume 260mm discs are superior to 239mm, but I am staying away from rear discs from the MB6 and MC2 VTI's because I want to keep a 4x100 wheel pattern (unless it's easy to change). Another thing is that my MB2 does not have ABS, I'm not sure if this plays a part with seeing what options I have. So overall I just want to hear what others have to say; what you guys would recommend, which breaking cars I should keep a look out for, and what would give me the best stopping power without changing other things on my car such as the wheels.   19. Hi there, So I've returned again to pick fruit from my favourite tree of wisdom. So good news, my MB2 build is nearing to the "end" of my MB2 build, of which I'll be making a lovely post about with lots of pictures once it's done. So recently I got the Hardrace front traction brace, Hardrace rear LCA's, 18mm rear anti-roll bar for 400/45/MG ZS. So I want to get new front LCA's as well and I asked the guys at Dynodaze about fitment and they told me that rear LCA's for MB follows EK (not EG) fitment but they didn't mention what would fit the front, only saying that they'd recommend getting ones off an MB6. So I just want to see if anyone has AM front LCA's then what fits MB's? Also bonus question, in case I ever decide to go for a beefier rear anti roll bar, what fitment works with the MB2? Thank you so much guys.
  20. Engine is coming back out got loads of new bits to fit that will make this car 1000x better. Come along way from the little 1.4 mb2 I bought for £200 18 months ago. please share the love H22A U2q7 LSD gearbox (ATR) original H22 timing covers. full through custom exhaust (once engine is back in) full poly bush engine and gearbox mount kit for H22 Evo 5 4pot Brembos aluminium 3 core racing rad fresh painted rocker cover (wrinkle red) and gasket recaro trendlines (ATR) aluminum sump and gasket going to be my project over Christmas to get all of these fitted. any info on gearlinkage would be helpful!   21. Hi guys me again, So in a continued effort to make my K20 MB2 perfect (or as close to as I can) I was recommended into getting an LSD fitted. So I'm looking for suggestions if anyone knows what works well with K20A2 and suitable for an MB2 chassis. (I'm also be looking around on K series forums too but I thought I'd also ask you guys in case anyone here is quite knowledgable about it). Many thanks once again :)
