  5. Hello guys, been on here a while now and you've all helped me out so I think it's about time I made a build thread. Initially I was looking at 1.4 MB sports because I'm 20 and thought I'd get shafted on Insurance but after ringing about, I managed to get fully comp for just over a grand on an MB6. Yay! So started hunting for an MB6 and found one not too far and a for a decent price, so went down and a few days later I picked up a 1999 Pirates Black MB6 which is absolutely rust free and with one of the cleanest Engine bays I have ever seen on a 15 year old Honda. So the spec list when I bought it was: A bunch of blown Sony X-plod components An adjustable decat A cat-back with a hiddeous 5 1/2" backbox which was held on with 1 hanger and rattled like mad A bit of piping with an eBay filter on it Powder-coated wheels with 4 miss-matched tyres HID kit which I love, not too bright but not too bluish Things I've done to it so far: Rover wind deflectors JVC headunit with a 1100W JBL 6 channel Amp, 1000W JBL sub, Alpine front door speakers and 6x9s. Luckily one of the previous owners had a good install so all the wiring was already there and the front door speaker holes were covered in sound proofing DC2 gear knob ToyoSports cat-back which is great for £150. Car sounds so much deeper than before and Vtec is much more pronounced because the exhaust doesn't drone everything else out Service inc Engine oil, filter, gearbox oil, fuel filter, plugs and leads, pollen filter Energy Suspension Gear linkage bushings which has made changing gear so much better Magnetic Sump plug Had some Alluminium piping laying around so I stuck the original rubber pipe on and ran the ally piping down to where the resonator box sits as a home-made CAI. Loving the car at the minute, came from a 1.8l Accord which had around 135bhp when new but the one I had was s**te, so the MB6 is like a major step-up. The next few things I want to do is throw on some 16" Rota Slipstreams and some coilovers but the Meisters cost basically 3 1/4s of the car Going to be saving up money to hopefully boost it over summer/winter but I want it to be able to handle the power first. I'll put some current pictures of the car up tomorrow, but thanks for reading

  6. A little bit of work done to the civic over the weekend to keep jer happy for awhile . Next job is swap top whish bone's from my other M cus thery where only a month or so old when it died Oh and lowering it 60mm on springs not cheap and cheerful. And dont mean to be rude but i think the ride quality of MG;s is p!ss poor for not that much gain in handeling just my opinion tho.

  21. Mmm k24 nice yep you will need a k20 oil pump , and they can run over 8000rpm if need be ,my k26 can rev too 8200rpm and I would think a good set up you should see anywhere around 230/245bhp @beastgtir@Krzys@Grant@philgor@UnicyclingTom

  22. Yeah Probs will go mg zs. I've got another set of grey 15 in shed from my eg. And a set of toyo proxes t1rs aswell. So gonna keep it looking standard. Clean up a bit where needed. Pootle around in it. For a while then will slap a race tech turbo kit in eventually.

  23. So, as its mid winter, I tend to bring my car in and give it a going over to free off any brake slide pins and give it a service. My car is booked in (again) to Progrip for a full suspension geo to iron out the pulling to the left, after the last roadtrip! The front wheel tracking would only need done but as I'm a fussy fecker, a full geo is the only option for me. I don't really tend to post many pictures on my thread as I only really do that when fitting mod parts. I'm going to start posting pictures of my car when it gets worked on more often. Here are some pointless pictures from yesterday; I wanted to adjust the spring preload to 10mm, so cleaned up the coilovers when I was there: One front bottom slide pin was seized slightly so cleaned it up with the works bristle machine, re-greased and fitted: Now I have had a slight leak (again) from the air vent in the boot. Time to fix properly: FIrst off is rear bumper removal (not all the bumper but enough to get in) Removed the screw holding the corner: Removal of the rivets ontop of bumper: The offending air vent: Doing it properly this time, not just the foam like last time: Used some Mercedes foam stick on seal as there is a largish gap between the vent and the car body hence the leak: Smothered in sealer: Time for the service: Good to use the works equipment, makes life easier Adjusting the spring preloads increases the ride height. To compensate this after I stiffened the preload, I then lowered the car the proper way to try and get the height back to what it was. After driving around the yard a couple of times, I measured the suspension again...same height as before but all round. So had to lower the front slightly for handling purposes. Back into the workshop and back onto the ramps to adjust front down a further 10mm as per factory spec. Now car is ready for Progrip on Monday Also have another problem with the car. It is very difficult to get the car into gear on motorways recently. I am having to use substantial force to get 3rd/4th and 5th gears. I can get into gears when stationary and slow speeds which points me to an engine or gearbox bush away, That would cause the linkage to move when engine or gearbox is under stress at speed. So when its in Progrip, I shall ask him to check out the bushes as I couldn't really tell when I was under it doing the service I can't really complain as the car has been uber reliable considering I drive it quite hard. I always like to fix any problems straight away, so will be using Honda parts for this fix like normal!

  24. Yeah its all the same. I've used the top mount bushes from rimmer bros. Spot on were something silly like 37p each

  25. It was the thermostat seal..It wasn't sitting in properly..He took it out and tried fitting in properly but still it was leaking.. Finally he used sealant around the seal and it stopped leaking..I topped up the radiator fully this morning and went for a drive and no drip plus temperature stayed nice and steady..car warmed up properly also..so hopefully that's the end of that chapter

  31. Been driving it for the past few days and had no problems with it, but it came back for a few seconds today. It's having a major service carried out tomorrow so hopefully it'll sort everything out. Bought some of that injector cleaner as well and I'll make sure the plugs are all in properly. Thanks for the help fellas.

  37. Had a full service done the other day and have her a nice clean.. Feels much smoother to drive now.. No idea when the last guy had done the service as oil was thick and black and spark plugs were turning red.. Air filter bolts were rusted.. Had to cut one of them.. I could tell the difference after the service.. So some photo whoring

  38. But just plain black was still boring and I wanted to do something different this time so I also got a can of silver spray.. The wheel all masked up Then @PataynaMB3 lent me his spare vti wheels so I took the other two off at same time All done.. I love them personally like this and prefer over black wheels.. Plus it cost me £6 to do all 4 wheels so I am not complaining lol

  39. So next mod guys.. I don't like the color on standard wheels plus they had a few kurb marks on them also so I had to refurbish them.. The wheel all cleaned up It's too cold outside plus weather changes so quickly so I sanded them as quick as I can.. Didn't do as well as I wanted to but this was a quick refurb anyways Primer applied.. Wife suggested to leave it in that color but it's not my taste may be if it was slightly darker grey I would think about it lol : D Sprayed black.. Much better

  40. Comparing M's: My other pal drove both Ruby and my civic that day as John (ruby owner) said for him to compare them. The drive: Ruby was first. We had to keep telling him to drop a gear and rev it past 7000rpm! He loved it as it was first time driving vtec! It handled the bumps well and really is a great car to drive. Mine was next, he could not believe they were the same car on the same suspension! He was advised to avoid drain covers near the kerbs and watch for potholes! My car is built for my needs as track car and fun toy as well as a daily. He loved thrashing it and having the noise and rawness of it all with the low seats and go kart steering wheel. He giggled most of the journey and it brought out the inner child in him as he was holding revs at 6000rpm but not in Ruby! Verdict: He said that he could not drive mine as a daily but he could drive Ruby daily no problem. He now understands why i love driving my car on the camping roadtrips that we all have. THE END
