  1. When I have my first VTi I used to celebrate mileage milestones by trying to match the MPH to the first few digits of said mileage milestone, so on a motorway when for example the car hit 70k I'd do 70mph, though I had a private runway and the car was hitting similar mileages! thats quite a cool thing to do! don't think the law would take that as a valid excuse...... so can you explain again why you were doing 148mph in a 60 zone......... edit, just seen james photo of this just clocked over 82000 mile's and he's near as damn it doing 82kmh......
  2. talking to a landrover tech about one of these, and i mentioned that i knew some one who has one, he gave me some advice to pass on, it's the same engine found in a disco3/range rover, tdv6 except that they only have 1 turbo on the o/s cylinder bank, no real issue with the engine apart from the turbo's that can stick, the actuator rod's don't have any grease on the piviot's, so if it get's driven by a granny all of the time, they can seize up, which is only found when floor it, and then find after that there is no go what so ever. this tech has had a go at the landrover bod's at HQ over this, small bit of grease at the factory can save you load's of money. the cam belt's make sure that the front one is done on time as that drives' all of the camshaft's. the rear one is driven by a camshaft and drive's the fuel pump, the fuel pump is not timed on these so it can go on any poistion you want. so this belt it under very little strain what so ever, if it does go all that will happen is that the engine will cut out due to the loss of high pressure fuel. the gearbox's are good, the auto is a 6spd ZF unit, and doesn't like having too muck more power put through it than from the factory, manual is a 6spd jag/landrover, and is also bullet proof, but you don't see many of them. and one thing jag/land rover will never tell you, is the engine is french....... the engine is a PSA unit and is found in the big peugeot's and citroens'............ and he is also a star of a you tube vid over the turbo issue's because a 5am on one sunday morning, he was quite literaly chucking this knackered turbo around the workshop, and he was cursing every single person he could find to be responsable due to them not having a bit of grease on the piviot point. he can also remove the body off the chassis off a range rover sport in less and 90minuites........
  3. had this on my old civic, i was on disk's all round, it turn out that some one had removed the thin metal shim's that fit between the pad and the carrier, so when ever i appled the front brake's in reverse, a clonk would happen.
  4. they suit the car down to the ground, i love them i want some for mine....
  5. hit 148k as i was going through cabourne, so celabrated with a 3rd gear pull in vtec as i climbed out of cabourne
  6. had the pleasure of doing a mot on one of these, and needed to be roadtested as well...... and jeasus it's quick and your right about the lack of diesel clatter....... i would swap my mc2 for one of these, i just don't want the bill for the 105000 mile service, all the filter's and both cambelt's........ just over a grand for the main dealer to do it for you.........
  7. vosa tell's us on the mot check list when we redgester a vehicle for test, stantanered or an option, and what the sequence the warning light take's to show there is no fault........or it stay's on if there is a fault....
  8. if you remove the ABS system, it will fail the mot in the near future, as it was standared on the mc2/mb6, this was ment to be introduced back in january, but has been pushed back till god know's when.

the uk mot is a lot different to the irish nct, i don't know about the nct standereds', but i do know the standereds' required for a uk mot.. http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s06000301.htm this and the next page and also this http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s06000304.htm and the next page are the standered's needed for an plate to pass the mot, no if's or but's it that only... it doesn't say stick on plate's arn't aloud but they must meet the requirement's needed for the uk mot...
  11. one thing i came across today was the early honda cr-v, it's got a b20 in it, and a manual gearbox, would it be worth trying to find the ratio's out from them, as with them not being a sport's car, the probley would have longer gear ratios'......
  12. all i'm gonna say is thet i have been responsable for worse parking, when at one point, we didn't park at work, we abandoned car's......

  17. on the mb6/mc2 abs is a standerd fitment, so ant clued up tester, (like me lol) wiuld fail it with in a minuite of the test.... james, the abs lamp must follow a set sequence, if it doesn't it's a fail.....
  18. faaaaaack that is quick..... make's me want an auto again....
  19. ditto, never know a wheel nut to seize, but have known the wheel to seize on to the hub, envolving to get them off. to cure that i normally get the wheel off, wire brush the wheel hub up and also the hub on the car it's self, then i put a bit of grease on the hub it self not much though. if you put too much on it it will be squezed out between wheel and the hub creating a mess in side the wheel... the reason why this happen's is because of the mix of metal's, the wheel is made out of a alloy, and the hub is made out of a high tensile steel, in theory it the same with the wheel nut's, high tensile steel stud's, and normanly steel nut's. but if the OP had put cheap lightweight alloy nut on like these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Performance-Wheels-Coloured-Tuner-Style-Wheel-Nut-M12-x-1-50-In-Gold-/200710802071?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item2ebb4bca97 i've seen this happen, had a car come in for mot, failed on something, went to take the wheel off, and these cheap tacky tuner nuts split clean in half..... found that the thread in the nut, there was nothing left of it.
  20. ditto, i'd put money on it, or there's something small that sit's under the bonnet that's in paint....
  21. just had a look on the chart at work. all 1996 onwards, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0td abs was a standard fitment, only on the 1.5's it was optional, and the 1.4 didn't have it at all....
  22. VVVVVVVV i'm a tester in lincolnshire, i'll have a look on a our mot data sheet's tommorow, it tell's us the car, if abs was standard or option, and the sequence the abs light should follow.....
  23. they are chi's wheel's on civic life, and if i had the money id have them off you, but with all the shit flying around at the moment i can't
