i got a flat tyre on the way to work a couple of year's back N/S/R i think it was, so out came the spare wheel and the jack, did the wheel change in 5 minuite's flat, the best bit was getting it off the jack, just rolled it off the jack couldn't give a damn about the car t'was scraped by the end of the week.

just sorted my renewal out on the deck, and well happy, admiral came in cheapest at 1200ish (was paying 1100 on a 1.6 mb1), paid that in full, fast forward 10months' (still get a year's ncb so laughting with that), my renewal came in at £680ish, informed them of change of address, up to £850, informed them that my mum's insurance went down £100 when she moved house, droped it to about £800, told them that the car would only be used once in a blue moon for going to work (work is .2 mile's away now) and the ace card that i also volunteer and the cleethorpes coast light railway, so the final bill for this year's insurance is around £650 ish

My MB4 Project Thread *Coilovers fitted!!!*
philgor replied to ZchDnn's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
wow, that is a very good looking car, and white wheels suit a dark blue car down to the ground.... -
clearance is very tight, on both '96 teg wheel's and on the standerd vti 5 spoke's, but never had an issue with them..
-
when i got the mb1, it needed new rear trailing arm bush's for its mot, but within 6mth's they were both shot, so got some mg/rover (genuine) and fitted them, never had an issue with them for the rest of the time i owned the car

kid in a sweet shop, know the feeling when i was waiting to pick the deck up....
-
just thought, in the owner's manual, it should say somwhere the spec's on where the tow bar should be mounted, height off ground, max length from rear axle etc, just a thought is your looking at making your own. you could also put a post up in the wanted section, you never know someone with a deck, getting rid of the towbar... also rover 400 saloon i think are the same chassis at the back, so a rover 400/45/zs saloon towbar may fit.
-
tbh, the rear lip will fit, it just need's cutting to allow it to fit, that's what i'm gonna do to mine.
-
this is the fitting guide for the towbar fitted to my car, http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/uMedia/FittingInstructions/HN44.pdf bolt's in side of the chassis rails' and the rear towing eye.

just sent mine, know it's not much but the car insurance is due....

now that is a lot of car for your money, turbo'd i take it. i've alway's had a soft spot for the saab's, but i'd have the V6tid (3.0 v6 turbo diesel, 174bhp/260lb/ft torque), still a very nice car. so what's up with the omega...

philgor replied to 10000rpm's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
kink, your a legend, what an awsome and pratical mod. -
mine's lowerd 20mm, and has got a fixed witter towbar on it, it's got very little clearance between that and the bumper, got the vtis kit to go on and well the rear lip is going to be cut to allow it to fit, don't really want to lose the towbar as it is way to usefull not to have. i'll try to get some pic's during the week.

like wise, don't use the ashtray/lighter socket, but want some cub holder's.. -
stripped my mirror's the other day for painting, didn't take no pic's due to time etc.. a couple of tip's those 2 screw's in the bottom of the outer casing on the outside of the car, can be a arse to get out, but you can't take it off compleatly due to the wireing loom, as plug won't fit through the hole in the mirror. use the best fitting screw driver for the job as if you round them off it's game over. to take the mirror out, if you go under the main morror casing there will be a little hole, in there there is a screw that need's undoing, not all the way though, once loose enough, the bottom of the mirror should pull out complete with motor and wiring loom. you have to dismantal the plug to remove the mirror/motor wiring from the mirror. when i finish the paint work on mine i'll do a detaled strip down with pic's...

My Civic MB2 Project! Discs and pads needed!
philgor replied to fyfie5's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
know the feeling on confusing rule's. at the moment, if the SRS/airbag light is on, it's pass and advise (if we want to) aftermrket steering wheel's, as long as it is safe, (not about to fall off, or loose) pass when these rule's do come in (don't ask when as even vosa don't know as it is the goverment have got to alter the rule's) SRS/airbag lamp on, fail airbag missing when standerd, or obvously knackered. fail so you should be able to have an aftermarket wheel, if it didn't have an airbag from factory.... although this is VOSA were talking about here, so anything could happen....- 1,645 replies

not at the moment, so you can remove your airbag, and at the moment it's just a pass and advise if we feel like it, don't listen to "expert mechanics" who know not a lot about anything to do with the mot test...- 1,645 replies

the laser/optical computer alignment system are great, but the system where all of the measurement's are done from wheel to wheel on the car only, like this are much more flexable and can handle it if the car is off center and at an angle it'll still track it, as long as it is on a level surface http://www.zeplineering.com/img/products/wheel-align.jpg these are then displayed on a computer. the hunter type of system where there is a fixed frame at the front of the ramp and then "targets" mounted on the wheel like this http://www.four-wheel-alignment.co.uk/communities/3/004/009/546/233/images/4555013927.jpg all it take's is for the car to be off center and/or at an angle to the fixed frame, and it knacker's up the whole system and making the tracking worse...

iirc, the "online" mot system came in around 2005/6, there were a few test station's around that were pilot station's from around 2004 i know one of these was landrover aberdeen. but the system did have it's issue's so the system was bought in acorss the system gradually so as there are aout 20100 test station's and around 53000 mot tester's, that's a lot of people to train and place's to install computer equipment in too.... also set up phone line's up as it is a dial up conection to the vosa center...

Thats what I thought looking at which is what confused me- the wear is all on the inside quarter and not feathered like tracking wear. Looks like I've been ragging it around on about 5deg neg camber! The local tracking place uses a Hunter which I think can detect chassis misalignment as well so should find out what up with it. oh god not hunter, what a sack of #### to use, the pro align and hawk eye system's have got so many flaw's it;'s unreal, as all it take's is the car to be slightly of center and it'll put the entire system out and the car will drive worse than before. the best system's are any that clamp to the wheel rim. as the aligment happen's on the car, where as the hunter pro align and hawk eye align from a fixed point so if the car is off center so is everything else. they retail at about £25k+, and 1yr down the line, another manufacturer is taking them in as part-ex against a wheel mounted system at £16K...

the mid section on a mb6 is the same as a mc2, but the backbox is different due to the extra 6"? of body on the deck over the hachback
