  1. Better let you all in in whats happened! Basically, I've been getting fed up having all these cars!!! My prime objective was to spend all my time (and money) on DD making her into a show car. But after buying Ruby back, it meant I didnt have the time to do it with running 3 cars, and spending time on all three. So I had to get rid of either Ruby or Lexy. This is where my rpoblem began, because I love them both, but for different reasons. Ruby for the speed, the handling, and the memories tied up in her. Lexy for the creature comforts, all the toys, and the safety. With meeting Gayle, my priorities in life have changed, as its not just me to think of anymore, I've got Gayle and my new familt to think of. So Lexy was winning the battle on the safety side. But she didnt have the fun factor that Ruby has! So it was back to even scores again. But the thought of ruby being a daily driver, even during the winter, wasnt going to work. Shes crap in the snow, and would be even worse with the lowered suspension. So again, lexy was staying and ruby was going. So had a look at a lot of other options, like selling lexy and buying something different, like an S2000 or and MX5. But again, both would be hopeless in the winter, and with only 2 seats, would only be any good if it was just me and Gayle going out. Soooo, as of today, that idea was canned! Then Gayle gave me the solution! Have the best of both worlds, the best of ruby and the best of lexy! So today we went into Honda and traded Lexy in for a stunning Civic TypeR in alabaster silver with the optional Rage alloys! Was a huge step to take, but the right one. This way, I still have the fun to drive car that ruby is, and with everything that I love about the TypeS, all the toys etc. And most importantly, one hell of a safe car to be in should the worst happen. So Lexy waves bye bye on Wednesday, and the TypeR takes her place. Ruby will be going hopefully soon after. It will save me money on insurance, road tax and mean I have all the time in the world to concentrate on the deck. She is going to be turned into the most perfect M that I can achieve, and even though shes mint just now, she is going to be a show stopper. Wont have 3 cars to tax, insure, mot and service, just 2. And those two will fit all my needs. So there ya have it guys, the reasons behind the madness! To be honest, I'm actually relieved that Gayle came to the rescue with that idea, as I have genuinely been having trouble sleeping trying to figure out what to do. Knew whatever one I sold Id regret it, for the reasons i loved that paricular one. This way, I can have the best of all worlds. Safe, fast, fun and all mod cons! So as Im at a different place in my life now, I can lock all the happy memories with Ruby and Dawn, and with Ruby and Gayle, in a wee box and keep them there forewver. My lifes on a new chapter now, and time for new memories to be made. So Gayle and me will be having lots of fun with the TypeR, and making new memories to look back on.

  2. Cheers chaps, yes deffo the right choice and one I need to stick to. The deck will always be here, she'll never ever get sold, thats a promise I made to myself, and to Dawn, so I'll always be in a civic m. Cant own a site like this and not be in the appropriate car! lol Just going out to the garage now to take the typeS appart to get the double din head unit out and refit the standard one. Massssssssive job, as most of the dashboard and complete centre console has to be removed! Also got to remove the TypeR rear lights I fitted (they'll go on flebay) and think thats about it. Busy day today!

  3. Ill second what @Grant said, make sure its someone that is gonna look after her, and prefferably someone in the club (even if you have to make a new member out of them..... tbh you should make that a condition of the sale that they have to be or become and active member)

  4. As said before, i hope your car goes to a club member that will appreciate all the effort that has went into it and also to respect the memories you had with the car by not putting a stupid max power bodykit and flashing neons under it! I know whoever buys Ruby can do what they want but if it goes to a recognised member then you will have a chance of it being looked after....... .....and know it will be in good condition when you buy it for a 3rd time!

  7. Ok guys, I've got Nicks Wreathe sorted out via Interflora. I did want to get a letter one spelling out civic5, but unfortunately they start at £50 a letter. I've chosen the one shown below, in the largest size which is 50cm x 50cm. Flowers will be bluey/purple and white. Price for this one was £90 Link to it here >> http://www.interflora.co.uk/catalog/product.xml?product_id=2623862;category_id=19 They stated that Eastbourne crem's address shows as "Hyde Hollow"? Can anyone confirm this please to make sure it's going to the right place. Thanks.

  10. Now included in the plans will be a full respray to make her paintwork flawless! And a few other trick bits done on the interior too, with some possible window tinting at some point.

  11. Not got any pics of the TypeR yet mate, might go down to Western Honda tomorrow and take a few But we do haver her new name picked, and a perfect name it is too! Gayle and I were trying to think what she should be called, and Gayle hit the jackpot again! Clever girl is my Gayle! All will be revealed when we pick her up Wednesday. Be sad to see Lexy go too, but she's been a brilliant car to own, so will miss her too. But then again, being in the FN2 will be like being in Lexy so alls good! Got the free insurance sorted out today and the head unit is out with the standard one back in again. Mammoth job again, but turned out good and was a lot quicker than it took me last time! Also got her all hoovered out, and replaced a few other standard parts back onto her. Was going to remove the TypeR rear lights to sell on but couldn't be bothered, so she's keeping them. Will deffo get some good photos and a proper video of Ruby done soon, one for keeps as said above

  15. Those AZEV wheels make the 90's kid inside me very happy.

  16. Thinking about it, don't scrap the MB until you've completed the conversion if you can. That way anything you find you need to can still get off the MB while it's around. Was a god send to have the MB4 to hand when I was doing the interior for parts I hadn't thought about!

  17. I'd say you've got it covered in that lot, can't think of anything else except maybe suspension off the front perhaps? Just thinking weight differences.

  18. Or just remove the ABS

  19. Good to hear it was a simple fix! I take it the pistons moved freely? I don't know anybody who has a sensor but I guess any of the folk breaking M's could probably help. 10000rpm and Adam RHD on here should be able to help you

  20. I sorted the brakes on Saturday, just sticking pads luckily! The car feels a lot quicker so must have been like it for a while. does anyone have a ABS sensor if I need one in a hurry??

  21. Yeah! Go hard or go home eh? 50x50cm Dave says! One sheet of A4 with the C5 logo and another with the tribute article plus picture, what do you think?

  25. Says this on the local council/gov website: Maybe we could print some sort of "C5" design to place in the centre of the wreath?

  27. There's a lad I know that has I think six or even seven cars! When I found out what he does for a living I really struggled to think how on earth he affords them all on what is basically minimum wage! Then found out he lives with his mum and it's her firm he works for, some people have it so easy!

  28. Can't really argue with that - at least you'll still have DD to keep the m interest going. And 3 cars to mod is quite a handful
    1 point
  29. I was going to say chuck the Meister's onto DD but you're one step ahead already! Well it sounds like you have one hell of a plan there. Will be a shame to see Ruby go again but I think it will help in more ways than one!

  30. As said before, she certainly looks complete now! Doesn't look like there is much more you can do to the MB2 now is there? More lows maybe

  36. well i was fortunate enough to talk to some Rover guys over at mg-rover.org site. they gave me some good info and a link to a little info site on the rover diesel engines. some pretty good information over there as well. they have a nice front mount intercooler set-up for the rover 200/25/ZR. this pretty much the same engine set-up as my Deck. check out this link and take a look-see: http://www.roverdiesel.co.uk/index.php/products/116-fmic-200-25-zr thinking about scooping this up a few months down the road.

  37. So sad that it was so sudden and more so for his wife and girls. As Krzys has said, it's all been said. We will help in what ever way we can, even if it's just turning up and being there.

  38. Sounding good, was always unsure about which brand window deflectors to get but knowing the clim-air ones fit better on the deck sets me off in a good direction Good news on the new MOT ticket and unbeaten MOT record! Lol

  39. Nice one Jon. We're going to try and do what we can to help his wife and family through this as, knowing from personal experience, it won't be easy. But he had so many friends here, she'll have the club helping her when and where we can.
