lmao the stuff he was on about adding was the VTiS stuff Ali!

lol yeah, there's a hella lot of decks here now! I can remember for almost the first year this forum was running we only had one deck........Dawns Deck! Was a novelty when the second, then third deck arrived! Having had both, I'm kinda stuck with which I prefer style wise. I think the hatch is great, and can be made to look the nuts with a few simple mods. The decks, imo, are one of the nicest looking estate cars there is. I think Honda played it clever with the style of the deck, by keeping the size down instead of lopping a huge back end on there. The decks style and size make it look classy, but again, with some choice mods they can also be made to look quite evil! Driving wise, driven the hatch VTi and been in a VTi deck, and tbh, the decks extra inches don't seem to make that much of a difference, which I thought it would. Both the VTi's were standard at the time. I fitted MeisterR's to the MB6 and it was like night and day. Handling was immense! I've since fitted them to the deck, and again, like night and day compared to standard. I know how well Ruby handled, but have only once kinda given the deck a good try out on the coast road. Dougie I think will confirm, the deck is handling sweet as! I'd even say it's on par with Ruby now. Which is something, seeing as the deck has no rear ARB (these in my opinion are well over rated!) and she's on 16' rims as opposed to Rubys 15' rims. Those two points alone would maybe suggest that the hatch would have way better handling, but it doesn't! Honestly, DD is so well planted it actually feels like driving Ruby! Sooooooo, which, when given an ultimatum, do I prefer??? Honestly, it's close, but have to say the deck!

Get yourself there next year for deffo mate, amazing show and a great atmosphere. Good crack on the civic5 stand too, even got our own resident tea boy lmao @philgor Decided as it was nice and sunny today/tonight, I'd waken DD up from her wee sleep in the garage and bring her on a wee run to work. Can't believe the looks she gets from other drivers as they go past! Guy I was letting away at work, whos not into cars, but buys and sells em to make money, was drooling over her! Lost count of how many times he said "wow, I love that!" She gets a great reception everywhere we go! And so nice to drive compared to the TypeR (sorry Roxy!) nice and smooth and so relaxed, I left home early so I could just have a nice Cruise to work! Love DD to bits, and love just looking at her parked outside the office window.

Dave replied to Krzys's topic in Car of the Month 2014 winners
Wowser! Many thanks to everyone who voted for her, so happy she won! It's a real pleasure working on this deck and turning her into the show car she deserves to be. Know Dawn will be up there so chuffed that her deck won cotm! -
Wow! So pleased she won car of the Month this month! All the hard work pays off, but it's all done in Dawns honour. Damn thats unlucky mate. I would suggest before making a decission, check the whole car from front to back. There can be rust on the floor up above the petrol tank which is pretty hard to see, so maybe use one of those inspection mirrors to try and get a good look at the inaccessible areas. If there's any other nasty bits found, I would break it for spares and find another one. If there's no more rust found, then I'd start stripping it out in the front to see exactly how bad it is. If it isn't too severe, it's worth getting it repaired. Just depends on how much you love the car mate. First I've heard of one going there, but do know someone that had a Rover 400 (4 door saloon version) that looked mint but found out it was rotten in the same area as you mention above. Were the arch liners missing when you got it, or were they in place? If missing, that could explain why its went. They don't have much protection on the panels there paint wise, so the plastic liners tend to save them

Just spotted you about half an hour ago mate. She's looking good!

I think it's a good point in principle, but think it will be difficult for it to work. It would mean that before any newer members entered a car belonging to someone else, they would need to go looking back through the list of last years cotm winners. It's sometimes hard enough getting folk to read the basics of the site, but to make sure they have done their homework before entering a car for the comp will be very hard. The thing is, the comp isn't based on the car thats had the most/latest mods over a certain time frame, it's just all about members seeing a particular car they really like, or indeed their own car. But I think a lot of members think that because they havent maybe done a lot of mods to their car, they can be reluctant to enter their own car. Which is sad, as theres a hella lot of members joined recently with relatively standard civics that are ultra clean. It doesnt matter what your cars like, or one that you like the look of........if you like it, enter it chaps (and chappess's) Every car in this club is worthy of winning the competition imo -
Already had the quote for that..............£750 upwards. Not sure if I could warrant that on just a dash. lol Got to be a limit somewhere! Had the deck out for a wee run with Dougie yesterday in his mb6. Got some photos that will post up later

Hmmm, I quite like the fake wood mate, as did Dawn. If it had been the lighter shade used in the light grey interiors, then yeah, it would have to go. But as it's the darker wood effect, I kinda think it gives the dash a more up market feel, like the BMW's, Mercs etc of the time the deck was new. The carbon vinyl sheet stuff I'm not a massive fan of, as I think it looks even more fake than the wood! lmao Did think about getting it hydro dipped in carbon effect, or something custom, but decided against it. All personal taste i guess. However, I'm embarking on a new business venture shortly, which will include custom interior car parts,so it might be in for a one off look! Watch this space (for a very very long time! lol) New business will take a wee while to get sorted, got equipment to buy, and a workshop to set up, but hoping it's a success. Spotted a wee niche and Gayle came up with the idea so thought yeah, lets go for it! New bits arrived for the deck today (only wee ones though) to further trick up the interior.

Yeah, the Golf aint that quick. I had a play with one (or should I say Ruby did) a few months back and she wasted it! It was done up quite nicely too, but when he gunned the arse of it, it just couldn't compete with Ruby. He had two goes then backed right off looking rather sheepish! lol
-
Yeah, the chrome theme goes well with the wheels, so thought I'd carry it on into the interior, subtly

MB2 TRINITY D. K26. 23/11/14 BRAND NEW MINI MOD ????????
Dave replied to DAVEMB2's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
Mate, that car is just immense! The acceleration in 3rd is like unbelievable.......that kind of acceleration just shouldn't happen in a car!!! lmao To give you guys an idea what it's like, Paul mentioned that that's the closest thing to his 1000cc Fireblade's acceleration he's ever felt in a car. It really does just push you back into the seat as if it's got this massive hand on your chest shoving you! And thats before vtec kicks in! When that does, you think your lungs are gonna pop out your back! Intense! She's just a beautiful car and so well put together. Glad she's got a nice cosy duvet of her own now mate, that'll keep her cosy during winter. And keep the dust off her in the garage. -
Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it. Just wish she'd seen it on the show stand, it's what she always wanted. But bet she was looking down with a big grin on her face, loving the attention it got! Ok, for those who weren't at the show, here's a list of whats been done! MeisterR suspension fitted, 40mm drop in height Integra Type R steering wheel re-trimmed in black nappa leather with electric blue stitching, with the perforated section done in the same blue leather the rest of the interior was re-trimmed in. Again, done by Transcal UK at Livingston. Top job! Custom fit chrome strip along dashboard between lip between dash and glovebox. Extends full length of dashboard. Replaced all the bolts around engine bay with Password JDM fender bolts with low profile anodized blue washers Anodized blue radiator stay bracket Anodized blue oil filler cap Rocker cover sprayed metallic pink/purple Magnicor silicon HT leads in blue fitted Anodized blue Password JDM HT leads separator fitted Aircon radiator brackets metal polished then sprayed with anodized blue paint. Exhaust manifold resprayed in VHT silver Engine bay washed down and then polished/detailed. Brake calipers front and rear machined smooth (then metal poilshed), then painted blue. Hubs on brake discs painted blue. Whole car washed, cut back with G3 cutting compound, clayed, polished with Autoglym resin polish, then polished with Autoglym high gloss polish, finished with G3 wax. Interior fully cleaned and detailed. Parts i didnt get time to fit are Blue Samco silicone hoses, modified front grill. double din conversion (parts already here), and a multifunction display to replace the standard clock (same as Mikephotos. Parts already here) Parts/work she's getting are: Anodized blue radiator cap. Stainless steel induction pipework retaining the original airbox (but fitted with K & N filter) Possible wire tuck Anodized blue battery bracket Full respray Windows tinted Underneath inc suspension/chassis fully detailed. More work on the interior including detailing. It's a mission of love. And she drove the 600 and odd mile trip perfectly. The suspension is set up superb, so totally comfy but no body roll in corners, and postitive steering now. Will post up pics soon, but here's how she's sitting just now. Note: Blue Oil filler cap not fitted in this pic, just bought it at the show and fitted it there! lol

For the best of the best it has to be Meister R coilovers mate. They give you a fully adjustable drop, and also fully adjustable damping stiffness (32 clicks). I bought them for my MB6 hatch and have now got them on my MC1 deck, and the difference is incredible. On the MB6, I had a mildly stiff set up (19 clicks front, 21 clicks rear) which was stiff but still comfortable. The car was lowered 35mm, so looked sweet, and the handling was totally transformed. No more understeer, even in the wet. I set it so I had a progressive oversteer, so she was totally controlable. There have been a few from here that went out in her, and couldn't believe the handling. She is sooooooo planted on the road! For the deck, I didnt want to loose the oem comfort, so went for 15 clicks on the front, and 17 clicks on the rear. The decks been lowered 40mm, as it suits that little bit more lows due to the length of the car. Again, this set up has proved brilliant! The comfort over rough roads is still the same as oem, but cornering wise, the steering is more positive and there is no body roll in the corners, car stays nice and flat. We fiddled about a bit to get the best overall setting for what i wanted, and the above setting is perfect. And has only once had a mishap on a speed bump, in the garage near Japfest2. The front mudflaps slightly scraped going over the bump, but it was a quite brutal speed bump tbh! Here's how she sits on them The only downside is the price. But you do get a discount if you use the civic5 discount code at the meisterR checkout, so for the money, I'd deffo say it's the best set up available. Just depends on if you plan on keeping the deck a while.................if so, then money well invested
-
lol the only boost she'll have is a cadburys boost! Was working till late in the garage last night, so got so more stuff done. Busy today and tonight so will continue tomorrow at some point. Some more things should be arriving today hopefully. Then on Thursday it's time to concentrate on the polishing and machine buffing, getting the interior all spick n span, then put me feet up after that! lol
