Meet Roxy! Daves Honda Civic TypeR FN2 (UPDATE: Roxy waving goodbye to Civic5)
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Other cars
lol I wish! I went and took a deal on the servicing when I bought her, so the next 2 services are already paid for. Think I might put her in early for a service as I feel she needs it tbh. Sometimes seems to drive rough, especially when cold. Have to say having owned the D-series, B-series and now the K series, I'm not a huge fan of the K-series engines. Think they're hyped up more than they deserve, and if I were to choose between B or K, it would be B all the way for me personally. And as for all this fly by wire stuff, it's crap in my opinion. Give me good old cables any day!- 340 replies

Was out and about in Roxy, and spotted this! Mark 1 Escort Mexico in Daytona yellow. One of my all time dream cars, in my fav colour for them too! Always wanted a mk1 Escort, either the Mexico or the RS2000. So, had to take a pic! Bloody gorgeous! And on my way back, there was a convoy of MK2 Escort mexicos, RS2000's, 1600 sports etc and a few other MK1's. Must be a ford show on up here somewhere. So that was my treat for today, seeing all these lovely old fords! Always been into the classic fords, my first love before I moved to Hondas

Meet Roxy! Daves Honda Civic TypeR FN2 (UPDATE: Roxy waving goodbye to Civic5)

Soooo, after much hassle, the dealership finally agreed to get the wheels refurbished properly this time (Thanks to my lawyer!) For those not aware, when I bought Roxy part of the agreement with the dealership was that the optional alloys she had (19" rage alloys, which have a diamond cut polished finish) would be fully refurbed as they were a bit shabby. The car went into the dealership for this to be done, but when i got her back all they had done was have the wheels spray painted silver (which was already flaking off after a week!) and this killed the look of the wheels. When I pointed out I wasn't happy, and that was NOT what I call refurbished, they backed out saying that was all they do when "They" refurb wheels. After much hassle going back and forth to the dealership and on the phone, they offered a deal of me taking the car to a refurb place, leaving it there for 5 days, and paying half of £330. They would pay the other half! I was like "WTF!!!? I aint paying for it, it was supposed to have been done as part of the deal with the car! And I'd have to pay for a courtesy car for a week too. I wouldn't accept this, so we reached stale mate when the manager and me had a bust up! They then said they weren't going to do anything else with the wheels. So, my lawyer intervened, and got them to sort it out! They agreed to send the wheels away to be diamond cut and re-laquered, and gave me a brand new Jazz for the week it was away. Result! So, now shes back, and the wheels look absolutely stunning! I also ordered brand new centre caps for them too, as the originals were a bit dented and corroded. Took a few pics in the drive today with ma Phone, but will get better pics up soon. Enjoy!- 340 replies

Yes mate, you can get either the Team heko ones or the Climair. If you go on the climair website, they actually list them for the Civic MB/MC models, whereas I think Heko only list the for Rover 400/45 etc. Both sets will fit. I have had both sets, and have to say the Climair are a far superior product to the Heko ones. The rear ones from Heko seem to be quite loose when fitted, and can eventaully fall down/off. The Climair ones are a really nice tight fit, with no chance of them falling off. The Heko ones are a slightly darker tint than the Climair ones, although this isn't much. Price wise, Climair are really expensive compared to HEKO, but as said, the climair fit a lot better and more securely. I had the Hekos fitted to Ruby my MB6, and have currently got the ClimAirs fitted to my Deck, DD. Hope this helps.

silver MB6 ( I have finally come over to the M side ) :)
Dave replied to jool83's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
Wowser! Can't believe you're finally in an MB Mike! And a minter of an MB6 that is too! Really rare to see it with the wood trim, I gather the old guy must have optioned that when new. Lucky bugger getting one with that mileage and never modded, loving it! Loved your EP so can't wait to see where you go with this one bud. And welcome to the dark side lol -
That sucks mate. On saying that, Gayle has a Kia Rio (09 plate) and she's never had any probs at all with it. He's (yes, Gayles now like me and her car is a wee person too lol) actually a great wee car to drive. Pick up speed on the motorway is really quick for a 1.5 diesel, I was surprised! Maybe just a bad dealership and a friday/monday car? Not heard that many complaints about Kia's to be fair. Wee "Jazzmine" goes back to the dealership today, hopefully, and Roxy will be back in her staring role again! Just waiting on the call

Well, as most of you already know, I had some probs with the TypeR. The main one being the refurb of the 19" rage option alloys. These were meant to be done as part of the deal when I bought her, but the garage only got them repainted. After much hassles it's now getting them professionally diamond cut like they're meant to be (thanks to my lawyer!). So, Roxy went away on Monday and I got courtesy car from Western...................brand spanking new Honda Jazz! And only 10 miles on the clock! Before you all start laughing, I'm actually really pleased! I'd thought about a Jazz ages ago after seeing a yellow one lowered, nice alloys, full kit and tinted windows kicking about near my work. It was styled along the lines of the supercharged Honda Fit, available for the JDM. This thing looked stunning! So I'd always wanted to have a drive of one to see what they're like. First thing, I love the colour of this thing! Not sure what it is (havent looked it up yet) but its like a kinda burnt orange metallic, only it seems to have a kind if red through it too. Looks the nuts in the sunshine! It also has 16" alloys, limo rear windows, and most of the toys that Roxy has (same steering wheel, leccy windows all round, digital climate control, cruise control, abs, esp.....etc etc. So well kitted out toys wise. Engine wise, it's only a 1.4 auto, but what a cracking wee car to drive. It's so quiet, you sometimes think the engines switched off (even at 70mph!) and overall it drives really smooth. Ok, so it's slow as hell compared to my other cars, but that's not the point of the car. lol It's actually more relaxing to drive than the typeR, more comfortable (suspension wise) and just generally easy to live with. Average fuel consumption so far has been between 45 - 53mpg. It just sips the fuel! lol Downsides are: 1. The seats are like sitting on 3x2 concrete slabs! Way to hard and uncomfortable. 2. No power (although it did get to over a ton on a private kinda road!) 3. Image! People look twice when you get out of it and don't have a zimmer or white hair (which would be hard for me considering how much hair I got! lmao) 4. Steering feedback almost nil (although it's really nice and light, being able to steer it with your pinky!) 5. Quite a few blind spots on it. Other than that, it's really a fantastic wee car! Enjoyed driving it, and got it til Friday when Roxy should be back. I'll post up a few pics later when I get time.

Thanks bud! Well, That's her officially off the road till next year. Just completed the sorn thingy online so DD is tucked up in her bed for the winter. If I can get some decent heaters for the garage (currently got oil filled ones which are pants!) I'll carry out some more work/pampering on her through the winter, ready for showing in the spring.

Burbleboy's VTi-S Build **NOW SOLD 16/12/15**
Dave replied to burbleboy's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
The question is have you two got your mate converted to and into an mb6 now!? lol Thanks for the photos Ali, both are looking tops mate. Ruby is getting well looked after this time, looking really shiney! Bloody miss her soo much! When you's coming through for a visit and a wee photo shooty? -
lol just tell john to get his ass on here lmao. You need the back up! Think anyone browsing this now will hopefully be able to see from the last few posts that it's all in fun
-
Tis ok mate, not taking it seriously myself, (just take a look at one of your previous comments lol) just a bit concerned that anyone new here or guests browsing the forum may think it's for real, or compare it to the likes of what sometimes happens on civiclife etc. Speaking of hatchback back-up, where the bloody hells John! he should be defending Rubys honour! lol
-
lol long in the tooth as in BORING!
-
And most standard cars are pretty boring to start with. A bogo base model Eg civic looks boring, base model Focus etc look boring as did most 90's "FAMILY" cars. Standard M's don't look much until you start modding them. And thats hatch's and decks. Dawn and I didn't have kids, didn't need a big car, but we still had both a hatch and a deck. Dawn got the deck because she like the styling of it, I prefered the hatch at the time. But giving the option now of buying a vti hatch or deck, then it would be a deck. And I still dont need practical, would buy it on looks alone. So not forced into buying one, same as I doubt most of the deck owners on here were forced to buy them. They bought them because they like them, because we're petrol heads. Not because we're someone with no interest in cars (Mr zafira driver). A true lover of the Civic M's likes them regardless of hatch/deck. Jeese, this discussion is getting long in the tooth now!
-
lol mad!
-
lmao nutter!
-
lol My ban stick is coming oot! lmfao! Bend over Ali!! The standard decks don't look gash, neither do the hatchbacks. Period!
-
LMAO It isnt adding "hatch stuff" Ali, they made a VTiS deck aswell as the VTiS hatch, and as with the hatch, they offered the full kit as an optional accessory when new. So the VTiS kit was always available to buy for both cars. Both cars really benefit from the kit, really changes the look of them. Anyways, hatch Vs deck or deck Vs hatch, any Civic M is a cool Honda in my book. Both are sweet and both are different to the norm..................which is what makes them so good.
-
lmao the stuff he was on about adding was the VTiS stuff Ali!
-
lol yeah, there's a hella lot of decks here now! I can remember for almost the first year this forum was running we only had one deck........Dawns Deck! Was a novelty when the second, then third deck arrived! Having had both, I'm kinda stuck with which I prefer style wise. I think the hatch is great, and can be made to look the nuts with a few simple mods. The decks, imo, are one of the nicest looking estate cars there is. I think Honda played it clever with the style of the deck, by keeping the size down instead of lopping a huge back end on there. The decks style and size make it look classy, but again, with some choice mods they can also be made to look quite evil! Driving wise, driven the hatch VTi and been in a VTi deck, and tbh, the decks extra inches don't seem to make that much of a difference, which I thought it would. Both the VTi's were standard at the time. I fitted MeisterR's to the MB6 and it was like night and day. Handling was immense! I've since fitted them to the deck, and again, like night and day compared to standard. I know how well Ruby handled, but have only once kinda given the deck a good try out on the coast road. Dougie I think will confirm, the deck is handling sweet as! I'd even say it's on par with Ruby now. Which is something, seeing as the deck has no rear ARB (these in my opinion are well over rated!) and she's on 16' rims as opposed to Rubys 15' rims. Those two points alone would maybe suggest that the hatch would have way better handling, but it doesn't! Honestly, DD is so well planted it actually feels like driving Ruby! Sooooooo, which, when given an ultimatum, do I prefer??? Honestly, it's close, but have to say the deck!

Get yourself there next year for deffo mate, amazing show and a great atmosphere. Good crack on the civic5 stand too, even got our own resident tea boy lmao @philgor Decided as it was nice and sunny today/tonight, I'd waken DD up from her wee sleep in the garage and bring her on a wee run to work. Can't believe the looks she gets from other drivers as they go past! Guy I was letting away at work, whos not into cars, but buys and sells em to make money, was drooling over her! Lost count of how many times he said "wow, I love that!" She gets a great reception everywhere we go! And so nice to drive compared to the TypeR (sorry Roxy!) nice and smooth and so relaxed, I left home early so I could just have a nice Cruise to work! Love DD to bits, and love just looking at her parked outside the office window.

Damn thats unlucky mate. I would suggest before making a decission, check the whole car from front to back. There can be rust on the floor up above the petrol tank which is pretty hard to see, so maybe use one of those inspection mirrors to try and get a good look at the inaccessible areas. If there's any other nasty bits found, I would break it for spares and find another one. If there's no more rust found, then I'd start stripping it out in the front to see exactly how bad it is. If it isn't too severe, it's worth getting it repaired. Just depends on how much you love the car mate. First I've heard of one going there, but do know someone that had a Rover 400 (4 door saloon version) that looked mint but found out it was rotten in the same area as you mention above. Were the arch liners missing when you got it, or were they in place? If missing, that could explain why its went. They don't have much protection on the panels there paint wise, so the plastic liners tend to save them

Just spotted you about half an hour ago mate. She's looking good!
