  1. It could well be for the lights mate! That mark of cortina isnt supposed to have the foot operated wiper thingy.
  2. Nice example mate, but not a genuine Crayford. The roof is all wrong, so assuming it's been a two door that's been converted at home or something. Still a really sweet car though (ow! Have I just showed my Geek??? lol)
  3. lol thats for the window wipers, although that year of cortina shouldnt have one! Was on very early mk3's. two of mine had it. You just pressed it to activate the wash/wipe, very retro cool! She's coming along nicely mate, although have to say that all these pics of cortinas is making me wish i still had mine! I'll try and find a photo of them, got a crap photo of the red GXL I had (it was a bucket to be honest!) and the only pic I have of my fave one that I restored is a newspaper spread where it got a feature in the Daily Record! I'd sold it by then, and the guy who bought it took the full credit for restoring it the git! He let it go to wreck and ruin, shouldve kept her. Was the exact same colour and spec as the one used in "Life on Mars" series, only that one was a fake GXL! lol Not got any pics of my other mk3 (a white 2000E, white 8spoke wheels, and boy racered right up! lol) mk5 ones, but got a pic of my mk4 somewhere.
  4. Wheel Guide (still under construction) We frequently get asked " will these wheels fit my Civic M?" or what does offset/pcd mean? So we put together this diagram page to make it eaier to understand, and make finding the right wheels for your Civic M a whole lot easier THE PCD This is the diameter of an imaginary circle drawn through the centre of the bolt holes. The P.C.D. of the wheel should match the P.C.D. that your car came with as standard. P.C.D. is measured in mm. e.g: 4x100 means the wheel has 4 bolt holes and the diameter of the imaginary circle through the bolt holes is 100mm. The image above shows the P.C.D. THE OFFSET / ET The offset determines how far under the arch or how far towards the outer arch a wheel will sit. Each car has its optimum offset and a range within which the offset can be for the wheel to fit the car properly. If the offset is too low for the range allowed, the wheel could stick out from the side of the car, if too high from what it should be the wheel may catch on the suspension or bodywork as it will be too far under the car. This is due to the fact that if you put a wheel on your hub with a higher offset than before, the wheels bolting face will have to move further under the car to meet the hub, in extreme cases causing the wheel to sit too far under. If you take a wheel and cut it in half and draw a line down the centre of the width of the alloy wheel the offset will be the distance between the back face (mounting face) of the wheel and the centre line that you have just drawn. The offset is commonly shown as the letters ET followed by a number, eg: ET45. The offset is always measured in mm and can normally be found stamped on the back of the wheel or behind the centre cap (if fitted). Below is a diagram of how the ET is obtained Wheel size 4x100 14" and 15" ( ET 45 ) | CIVIC MA8 MA9 MB1 MB2 MB3 MB4 MB7 MB8 5 DOOR HATCHBACKS. MB9 & MC1 CIVIC AERODECK ESTATES Wheel size 4x114 15" ( ET 55 ) | CIVIC MB6 VTi AND VTiS 5 DOOR HATCH BACKS. MC2 CIVIC AERODECK VTi AND VTiS ESTATES Click here to view the article
  5. In actually made one of those years ago out of a Civic MB1 (pre-facelift SR) seat. Was excellent, although have to advise that they tend to be back heavy, so are prone to tipping backwards! Especially when you're not actually sitting in it, and just trying to move it. Very very easy to make though, did mine in around an hour I think.
  6. Find the model code for your Civic hereJust look for the engine size your civic has and the year the car was made to find the correct code. 1.4i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1995-1997 = MA8 1.4i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1997-2001 = MB2 1.5i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1995-1997 = MA9 1.5i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1997-2000 = MB3 1.6i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1995-1997 = MB1 1.6i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1997-2001 = MB4 1.8i 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1997-2001 = MB6 2.0td 5 DOOR CIVIC HATCHBACK 1997-2001 = MB7 1.4i 5 DOOR CIVIC AERODECK 1997-2001 = MB8 1.5i 5 DOOR CIVIC AERODECK 1997-2001 = MB9 1.6i 5 DOOR CIVIC AERODECK 1997-2001 = MC1 1.8i 5 DOOR CIVIC AERODECK 1997-2001 = MC2 2.0td 5 DOOR CIVIC AERODECK 1998-2001 = MC3 The model code can also be found in the engine bay, on your civics chassis plate. The vehicle chassis number will have the code in it. Click here to view the article
  7. I love classic cars, was my passion before I got into Hondas. Nice project you got there mate. I was into restoring old 70's fords, but what I would love is a Datsun 240Z or 260Z.
  8. That's what I always do mate, never leave the handbrake on as it's guaranteed to get siezed on. lol
  9. Well, Paul and I started to do the rear brakes on Ruby today. Would love to say it all went well, but it didn't Handbrake cable braket was an absolute nightmare to get off, with the two bolts that hold it to the caliper totally rusted solid. Took us ages to heat them up and try and get them undone, but we got there eventually. Then the little pin that holds the handbrake cable to the mechanisim wouldnt come out, again, well siezed. So more time wasted trying to get that off too. Then when we went to fit the new caliper, the bloody thing wouldn't clear the new read brake pads, so after much effing and blinding, we finally got it on. Then the two bolts that gave us so much grief at the start on the handbrake cable braket, well, the holes wouldnt line up with the new calipers holes.!!!! Spent ages trying to get that to line up, which id did eventually, but cost us so much time with all these snags that we only got the drivers side replaced! So got to go through it all again tomorrow to get the passenger side off and the new one fitted with new pads. All the rear pads were shot, with hardly any meat left on them at all. And the old calipers, with Ruby sitting just a short space of time, were siezing up big time, really binding. So glad to get them off the car! Should finish the job tomorrow, then will take her out to give the brakes a good test, see how they bed in. Will be glad to have no more binding rear brakes!! Massive thanks to Paul again for getting stuck in and getting this done. Would have spat the dummy out myself a lot earlier had he not been there! I just don't seem to have the patience, nor the hands i used to have (bloody artheritis at my age! wtf???), for working on cars. And apologies to my babe Gayle for being late coming down to yours
  10. You did indeed sell me two, as I had two that were broken at the time mate. I've managed to repair the one that's broke this time so alls good again lol
  11. Love stories like this, always good to know a bit of the cars history. Shows also how much the guy actually liked the car in the first place as he came over to see it and to chat to you about it.

    Rover MBv6?

EF looked sweet mate, MG looks really clean. Love the wheels on it, look so much like the BBS rims so nice choice. Looks a lot better on the coilovers too, nice drop in height. Whats the future plans for it?

    Sig Picture

I'll get right onto this today at some point mate!
  14. Not seen Cindy for a while James, but reckon she'll still be doing the rounds. Was mint when you had her, rubys twin! Would be good to see someone in the club buying her, or a new member joining up thats bought her.
  15. Have to agree on the grids mate. I was looking at the slips for mine, but went off them. I'm now looking at GT3's for mine. Grids would go well with the overall theme of yours though.....hard as nails! Could go for a nice dark bronze, black or gunmetal. Or white, if you don't mind cleaning them a lot....................A VERY LOT! lol
  16. That Mk1 is amazing!!!!! K20, full wire tuck, sweet rims and dropped just nicely!
  17. Hehehe! pmsl @ the amount of folk who thought I was being serious about the RWD!! lol .............................................................then again, hmmm, that would be sweeeeeeeet! Might look into this lol Sooo, went to get a new battery for Pauls fireblade, then went to get the new rear calipers for Ruby! Got a pair of fully reconditioned calipers from Pentland Parts in Edinburgh, so this will cure all the brake issues permenantly! Won't have them on in time for the meet, so will do these next week. Good thing is I get £72 back when I take my old knackered calipers back to Pentland! Result! Think that will be everything done mechanically on her, just needing general valeting/detailing now. Not sure if I'm gonna have time though to get the buffer onto her, so much to do! Oh, anyone got any VTIS chrono centre caps going for sale??
  18. Tidy deck mate, and liking the mods you've done so far. Regarding the number plate recess, the one from MB's DOESN'T fit. The MC one is slightly larger, and also has the button/handle in it for opening the tailgate. The MB's dont have that feature. Really sweet deck for the price you paid!
  19. Wholly crap! That sound is amazing! Deffo what F1 needs to sound like! Sign me up, where do I buy one of those!!!
  20. lol ty for the replies! Yup, was one mega session on Ruby, but Pauls labour rates are cheap! lol Plenty tea and biccies and all is sweet! We gotta go get a new battery for Pauls fireblade now as it's boogered! Job for today! Had Ruby ou today to get some miles on her and bed the brakes in. Brakes are bedded in nicely now, but o/s/r is still a bit iffy. Going to order up brand new rear calipers to end all the sticky rear brakes issues. Further plans for Ruby this year are going to include some body work. Whilst doing the rear brakes, noticed a tiny bubble has appeared on the rear arch First bit of rust ever on her. Can't complain I guess as she's not exactly a spring chicken any more. So plan is she will be going into a bodyshop to get both (might aswell do both sides) rear arches completely cut off, and replaced with brand new ones, then obviously painted. Bonnet needs sprayed (stone chips) so might even go for a full respray, even though the rest of the paintwork is near perfect (but I prefer perfection!). Then the big plan takes action......................................S2K running gear and rwd conversion! Aye right! pmsl!
  21. Well, been busy getting Ruby ready for our meet this Sunday. As mentioned earlier, I'd had her out for a blast one day and got serious probs with the front brakes. Basically they got almost jammed on! Found out the caliper had siezed on both sides, more so on the passenger side though. Plus the front discs, which had already been machined, warped due to the heat. Soooo, Bought brand new front discs and pads from Western Honda and had got a second hand pair of calipers from a member on here. Plane was to completely strip the newly bought calipers down and fit new seals, pistons, sliders etc and prep and paint them so they'd be as new. Time wasnt on my side! So, Paul came down at 3pm on Monday and we got busy!. We hit a few probs along the way, and had to head out to buy some tools (blow torch and an impact driver set as one of the screws on the discs was solid!). Once we got the calipers off, I refurbed them as they were actually in pretty good shape, so wire brush on the drill and they came up like new. We cleaned up the slide pins, as they were in a state, but were good as new when we put it all back together. Obviously being the genuine Honda pads, they came with new retaining clips and caliper bolts etc, so got them plus the new discs all fitted up! Then we drained the old fluid, which was black! The age of it, and the fact the brakes overheated when they were stuck on had boiled the fluid. So drained/flushed it all out and went for some nice new DOT 5.1 racing fluid. Job almost done, the handbrake stopped working for some reason! So car back up on the stands, we had to strip the rear caliper down on the drivers side, as it had siezed! spent bloody ages on it, trying to get everything working, and also had to work on the pass side one with the blow torch too! We finally finished at.........................................bloody 5am Tuesday morning! But was well worth it, the brakes are back to how they should be on the MB6, and are pulling her up nicely with hardly any pedal effort at all. I'm going to do a complete refurb on those other front calipers I got though, and make them like brand new then fit them. Also going to buy brand new rear calipers, as the ones on her arent in the best of condition, but will be able to refurb them at some point and keep em as spares. I'll try and get some pics of the new brakes up when I get a chance. Least shes ready for Sunday................just a wash and machine polish for both her and the deck and they'll both be match fit!
  22. intrigued! Is it this one?
  23. Yeah, side view, especially the rear, looks almost identical to the Jazz. Quite tidy that!
  24. Wow! I want that in my life so bad! Always been a massive fan of these, was in one when it was brand new! Yeah, I'm that old, but hey, I was only a nipper! I'd have it done exactly like that, those arches, those rims, that engine! Its perfection that is!
  25. Looking good mate! Nice bit of detailing in the engine bay!
