  1. well she's off to the body shop tomorrow to get the spoiler fitted and get rid of some surface rust starting to come through on one of the rear doors. also gonna get a few scratches sorted out and a machine polish... she'll come back all shiny then I'll need to stick the DOHC Vtec stickers on (been going around without the passenger one for months since the scraping / van incident), and have to pull my finger out (and the bumper off) and get the headlight washer fitted that I got months ago.

  4. so just trying to get me head around this malarky with the gears... looking at the diagrams of the two countershafts on Lings website, and it looks as though the s9b has the collar built onto the countershaft, whereas the s80 one is a seperate bit. the guy who'll be doing the job's a honda tech, so I'll run it past him before he starts in case he needs to order the bits. wrt the diff, when I was emailing mfactory a few months ago, the guy said that the fitting for the gear onto the diff was the same... fingers crossed.. while they've got the box open they're gonna do a bit of a bearing change generally 1"£££$££"!! the seller emailed today saying he'd just got back off hols and would be sending it out asap... mint
  5. so on the continuing hunt for keeping the engine bay cool, I've trimmed some bits of the grill... original top, new one bottom took the opportunity to sand it, prime and repaint it so it looks nice and black again instead of faded grey.

  7. dunno... but if it's anything like the 9 percent that the torque claim is I'll be well happy most teg boxes I see on ebay are about 600-800... but you can't really be sure what they're like i suppose, and at least I know that mines in good nick. only problem is the teg box has a longer 5th than the s9, which means I'll be cruising along at 70 at higher revs (and in vtec). 1st and 2nd are shorter in the s80 too, but I've read people saying they're aa bit too short?

  9. I've been like a kid waiting for christmas for the last few days since I spotted it... can't believe no one else bidded on it. I did specifically search for a final drive like on the off chance... nearly fell off my seat.

  13. cheers Dave. was late for work this morning, so gave tubs a good try out, and I'm actually quite suprised at the difference. there's qute a bit more noise when I boot it, but it sounds like the exhaust is louder rather than just induction noise??? also feels a lot freer... wondering if it's coz of the heat shield making the exhaust more efficient? I suppose that the dc2 mani is designed to run with it. not sure, but all in all am happy
  14. the couple of tweaks of this and trimming bits from the airbox seem to have made it stronger at low revs and then when iabs kick in. bit more noise... but still quiet really. just made the k+n sound effect a bit more noticable. haven't really had a spirited drive though, coz yesterday had karen and the little fella with me.
  15. piccies... and some ducting... removed the snorkle and jubilee clipped some flexible ducting on, and have routed it around and under the air box down to near the drive shaft for some fresh air.
  16. success! whipped the top brackets off which gave enough play to get it in... did scratch the paint again but happy to get it on eventually. also had a bit play around with getting some cold air for the engine to breath. will get some photos tomorrow. 1"£££$££"!! also got a grill from the scrappy to do some experimenting with.
