  1. Yello' When I was getting the sports cat, I was having a chinwag with the guy, and I mentioned the gearbox work I was getting done. The fella reckons that Royal Purple is the best gearbox oil and totally transforms a gearbox, even just on an oil change. Does anyone have any experience of it? I've seen some good stuff on the webs but wondered if anyone here had used it / know of it. Cheers
  2. I know a honda tech who's got a pretty good setup at home (hydraulic lifts etc) - well handy
  3. ta - the back box was always pretty low key. got that first, then everything else just made it sound a bit deeper... centre, mani, then cat.
  4. so after a day of driving to work on motorway, country roads and a roads, I have to say that the cat's the one mod that I've noticed the most. I can best describe it as the difference between having v power or tesco momentum instead of cack supermarket petrol. it's like it's unlocked the other exhaust bits and I wish I'd done it sooner so excited about the gearbox now
  5. Okay - did this this morning on the way to work, from a roundabout, and up a slip road. My phone was in my cradle so the sound quality isn't great (and the image is pretty dull ) 20120807_001.mp4 You'll have to click the link coz I don't know how to put a video in [EDIT: Vid now embedded without need for photobucket nonsense]
  6. subscribed would be interested to know.... assume that ep ones don't stick. I know the handbrake on the wife's ep1 is good
  7. will do chief... I think that it might be time for the wife to do a drive by video. that is me driving by and her videoing me... not her driving past me real slow and popping a betamax in me bonce
  8. - sports cat..... check - sounds deeper and "like a motorbike" (Karen).... check - pulls well... check only had a 10min drive from picking her up tgo dropping her at the body shop to get the door sorted, and most of that was in traffic / 30 mph zones, but I'm happy so far great place as well - guys really know there stuff. Wish I'd known about them before I'd got all of the other bits done.
  9. got them from this website: http://www.acurapartsnow.com/find-parts/Acura/INTEGRA/1999/3DR%20LS/KA5MT/MT%20COUNTERSHAFT%20%281%29 and http://www.acurapartsnow.com/find-parts/Acura/INTEGRA/1999/3DR%20LS/KA5MT/MT%20MAINSHAFT so about $150 + postage + import tax can't remember what it came to... think it was about £120 (edit: the £120 included shipping) getting a bit excited now
  10. yup - this is both here: on a side note, I'm pencilled in for next Friday / all weekend for the gear box...... and sports cat this Saturday
  11. rear ones that aren't prone to sticking would be nice too
  12. couldn't say tbh... all I know is that it's a 3d jigsaw that I don't fancy taking on (but I'd quite like to help out with to see it's guts)
  13. wozers bud - that's awsomely clean when you say polished underneath, how do you mean? (and any pics?)
  14. don't think that there's a longer final drive in standard b-series boxes than ours... see here: http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/temp/Bgears.htm
  15. this: http://www.teammfactory.com/gearcalculator.php?kmh=0&tirewidth=195&tireprofile=55&wheelsize=15&tirediameter1=23.44&maxrpm1=8000&finaldrive1=4.26&gearratio1=3.23&gearratio2=1.9&gearratio3=1.36&gearratio4=1.034&gearratio5=0.714&gearratio6=0&trannytype=&tirewidth2=195&tireprofile2=55&wheelsize2=15&tirediameter2=23.44&maxrpm2=8000&finaldrive2=4.7&gearratioa=3.23&gearratiob=1.9&gearratioc=1.36&gearratiod=1.034&gearratioe=0.714&gearratiof=0&trannytype=&tranny=Calculate+Transmission+1+%26+2 2,900rpm at 70mph It'd be rude to not do a vid of accelerating (on a motorway up to 70 of course)
  16. and if I just put the 4.7fd in and left 5th as it was it'd be 3900 at 70mph http://www.teammfactory.com/gearcalculator.php?kmh=0&tirewidth=195&tireprofile=55&wheelsize=15&tirediameter1=23.44&maxrpm1=8000&finaldrive1=4.26&gearratio1=3.23&gearratio2=1.9&gearratio3=1.36&gearratio4=1.034&gearratio5=0.848&gearratio6=0&trannytype=&tirewidth2=195&tireprofile2=55&wheelsize2=15&tirediameter2=23.44&maxrpm2=8000&finaldrive2=4.7&gearratioa=3.23&gearratiob=1.9&gearratioc=1.36&gearratiod=1.034&gearratioe=0.848&gearratiof=0&trannytype=&tranny=Calculate+Transmission+1+%26+2
  17. I don't mind dropping it down to 4th if I need a quick boost, and the rest of the gears should be nice and lively
  18. This is what the m-factory gear calculator works it out as... http://www.teammfactory.com/gearcalcula ... on+1+%26+2 The red lines are the standard S9 ratios and the blue are what I'll end up with
