  1. Got sick of looking at the horrible scratch on my bonnet off a clod of mud that suspiciously found it's way there over night a while back, and left horrible scratches as it slid off when I washed it looked like this: So I broke out the clay bar (I've got a new favourite smell ) and then the colour magic, and finally some lovely wax. you can still faintly see the scratches (there's some wispy clouds overhead showing in the reflection in the pics that get in the way of where the scratches are) but it's a massive improvement. and ohhh... the feel of the freshly clayed paintwork... mmmmmmmm And general shiny bonnet pics: It was way too hot to be doing it to be honest - the polish was steaming off as soon as I put it on the bonnet and hazing up straight away.. which meant it took twice as long (at least)| to polish it off.. must get round to doing the rest of the car now
  2. aye, was looking at them last night tbh, but where's the fun in that? what can I say... i like to polish. plus it gets me out the house
  3. well, all of the talk of tidy engine bays spurred me on to try out my dremmel type rotary tool with grinding and polishing bits, and cleaned up a few bits.. exhaust manifold brackets and one of the pipes (second from left), and also had a bit of a go at my rocker cover coz it needed freshening up a bit.. mainly did the Honda H that I couldn't really get to with autosol and a cloth when I first did it. can also see the recently painted strut brace but looking at the pic there was a few bits that stood out as looking shabby... first was vtec solenoid.... before: after: 100 times better... could do with a bit finishing when you look up close, but when you're stood up it looks fine
  4. x2 when I did karen's the other week, the one I fitted had an allen key hole, but the one I took off didn't
  5. Yeah ebay mate 99p lol! there like a xenon colour! will see better when its dark! 1"£££$££"!! cheers dude!
  6. looks pretty good Paul - are they the one's off ebay? been looking at them but they looked a bit too blue, but they look a nice colour on your pics what are they like in the flesh?
  7. well, a few more days (and some soggy feet) has got the better of the neoprene. I was a bit unsure about it... the principle's sound, just need some better neoprene... 1"£££$££"!!
  8. they do change into a nifty foot rest. I like them for my stupid wide feet.
  9. looking good Dave 1"£££$££"!! how do the tyre pressures things work - what does it connect to / is there much to wire in? have you sussed out how you're gonna install the display? so many questions
  10. finally gave it a try... been thinking about it for ages. I'm sure plenty of you see this sorry sight every time you get in the car.... so got an a4 sheet of neoprene of ebay for a few squid, stuck it on and hey presto: a tidier footwell. it's lasted well for a few days so far... the neoprene was thinner than I expected, but is holding up well. with it being neoprene it shouldn't be slippy when wet.
  11. just realised I haven't said what what it is.. it's white sticky vinyl sheet. I tried making templates by doing a 'brass rubbing' (scribbling over the H with paper and a pencil) and tried pressing tin foil into the indentation to get the shape, but in the end just stuck a bit of vinyl over it, pressed it into the shape and then trimmed it with a scalpel. I think that I could have used something a bit sharper to press it in to the corners to get a better cut, so might redo it at some point.
  12. done... haven't been able to stop thinking about it after all of the in car shots from the Senna film the other week... like this: http://youtu.be/LKils9Mae8Q few little raggy bits so might redo it
  13. cheers Paul... can't take credit for the pics though... it was the missus.l I did all the polishing though
  14. in celebration of the new picture capability... big pics from the early days. 1"£££$££"!!
  15. I'll stick me head underneath tomorrow to double check, but that sounds like a plan.
  16. could be.. asked the missus and she's not bothered either way... women! what are you thinking about? it's an ep1 if that makes any difference? assume the bits would be the same though.
  17. I think that he biggest restriction is the cat... it's on my radar to get a high flow one at some point. I know de-cat's easier and cheaper, but have heard that sometimes it messes with back pressure and loses power. funny you should mention hobby... I've realised in the last few weeks that that's what it is now.. a hobby
  18. yeah, it's a two incher but don't tell anyone I was doing a good bit of digging around before I got it, and they seem to concentrate on better flow rather than just going for bigger pipes. from the wobsite: "unlike the countless competitors Supersprint has seen come and go, since 1955, Supersprint does it’s homework on the dyno, the street and the track. Our extensive knowledge has been earned on thousands of cars around the world. This knowledge provides Supersprint with the uncanny ability to extract power from engines when other exhaust manufacturers can only produce higher noise levels. Supersprint products are developed around scientific knowledge not assumptions. Other manufacturers of exhaust systems are happy with larger diameter tubing, restrictive silencer design, increased noise levels and chrome tips to lure customers. But our commitment to performance and quality prevents such an approach. Instead we at Supersprint design and build around each engine’s performance characteristics. Exhaust flow rates and velocity are dramatically increased by Supersprint designs while still retaining factory OEM diameter tubes. We know it is actually easier to loose horsepower through misuse of larger diameter tubing and badly designed silencers. Each component from header to tailpipe is accurately tuned and suited to each particular engine by Supersprint engineers. A critical balance between lower back pressure level and flow rate must be ensured for optimum performance. When Supersprint develops a system for a new car, hand built prototypes are made and extensively dyno tested, rebuilt and re-tested. Combinations of tubes and perforated cores with outside diameter ranging from 32mm (with 2mm. 3mm, and 5mm increments in size) up to 76mm are utilized for best results. Nothing is assumed. Only modifications that create proven performance in mid-range torque, and top end power increases, qualify for final production. There is no make-do engineering at Supersprint." I know it's sales blurb, but it makes sense, and since I've got the oem dc2 mani it seems like a good match. http://www.supersprint.com/en/exhaust-systems.aspx http://xkcd.com/148/
