  1. Tis good oil. Still golden! Nothing mechanical being done No baptisms here! It's nothing flash Just something I always do
  2. 5L of Fuchs Titan SuperSyn 5W-40 full synthetic oil purchased today And the car is having some more love this Sunday. Has a 10am appointment somewhere
  3. Not too confident at the minute. Everything needs bedding in so I'm gentle Brakes need bleeding again too in a week or so. I'm sure the rack is a PITA, but chances are, it wont be me doing it!
  4. Pretty neat and tidy. I would suggest removing the spoiler and getting the front windows tinted personally
  5. Yay, no arch gap! This is awesome.
  6. Back from the garage. Work all done! To summarise, - 2 brand new rear calipers. Can confirm they aren't reconditioned units. - 2 new rear Mintex discs - New set of rear Mintex pads - Brake fluid flush - Air-con recharge. The bit we love, some pics They aren't fantastic! Filthy old caliper and disc! Beautiful new set! Free aircon recharge FTW And I got to the bottom of my power steering fluid leak. The rack itself Kinda' guessed but this area confirms it. It really isn't leaking quickly at all so isn't a priority. Also took the opportunity to rip that loose heat shield off from around the cat! Was driving me bonkers. It's 18:00, sun is setting. Time to give her a quick scrub and get the bird poo off my windows!
  7. My friend is a manager of Kwik Fit so I pay everything at £1 above cost. Pretty naughty, but it saves me a small fortune! This is includes a gearbox oil change and a front wheel bearing check. I've been told the calipers are new, not reconditioned units. Not sure where from as they are supplying parts! Discs and pads are Mintex. I'm helping my sister move house monday so I might have to just chuck her stuff on the kerb and whizz off to get the work done
  8. Okay well that's my car booked in - 2 rear brand new calipers - 2 rear brand new discs - New pads All bought and fitted for £250. Not bad
  9. Found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Right-Brake-Caliper-To-Fit-HONDA-CIVIC-CAR1778R-/321141757799 Exact same part number Now to find a rear left!
  10. Tell me about it... Anyway, anyone know if these are compatible? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=370982661447
  11. Yeah he said he could do them but due to being mucked about before he wants my calipers first which is a big no-can-do as I need to get to work potentially 24/7 Completely understandable. Just a shame a few ruin it for everyone else. I even offered to pay a refundable surcharge but he has no calipers to work with. And the cost of buying a used set to then get reconditioned bumps the cost up so much i'd be better of buying new.
  12. Struggling to find rear calipers that are reasonably affordable. EuroCarParts want £130 each. Which is fine but I'd rather not do 130 on one side... One eBay ad said Rover 200/400 MG ZR calipers also fit? Can anyone confirm? I thought Rover used 240mm solid discs and Civic had 260mm solid discs
  13. I would disconnect and remove the valve and check it can open freely. Should be a one way valve. Clean with some carb cleaner or brake cleaner. If it's blocked I guess pressure would build up and force oil past the rings or something
  14. The mech seems fine. The sporadic functionality points towards a leccy issue though eh. Since unplugging and securely plugging in, the window has been fine. Almost time to check the power steering fluid and time to get new rear calipers. My O/S/R disc is rusty which tells me the brake isn't even working!
  15. Back on topic you lot Window stopped working today. I tried shouting at hit, hitting it, threatening it. Still didn't work. I gave the wires going into the door a wiggle and presto! It works! Seemed it was a bit loose. I disconnected it and the plug is full of gunk? Is this normal? Worth cleaning out?
  16. Funnily enough the dipstick was snapped off! I could see the level through the bottle though. Noise has stopped and fingers crossed the level is still near max. My list of things to sort out is growing - Rear calipers (Sticking and O/S/R looks to be ineffective) - Driver side window stopped working at the KFC drive-thru. Works fine now. Odd. - Investigate PSF - Some other small niggles bugging me
  17. Just over half a bottle of Slick50 later...noise has stopped. Going to keep an eye on the levels. No obvious leak just yet.
  18. Got a horrendous noise when steering when I start from cold. It stops after about a mile. Hard to tell the fluid level when it's dark but here's some pics. Doesn't seem to be leaking too bad? Here's a video of me steering left and right https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8snnG2Yi-UY&list=UU9w0D6d18kgiyNczZ1_X1dA Here's pics of the fluid bottle and hose
  19. Ha mine's not working either I didn't dare use it just in case the hose was split and leaking in the roof!
  20. You'll be wasting your time with a K&N panel filter. You won't notice the gains so they extra dollar could be better spend on some Auto Glym and a pint on a sunny day
  21. I like Grid V's. A victim of their own success. They look wonderful on almost any car. imo, the edit above is a couple to a few inches too big. I think you should slap on some 16x8s and sink it down on coilovers
