    The Inspiration thread!

    So for a very long time its been well known the Civic MA/B/C is based upon the Honda Domani / Acura EL in Canada/States which also shares a hell of a lot of parts with the Rover 45 / MG being the same platform. It was also sold in places around asia-pacific as the Isuzu Gemini (MA = 1993-94, MB = 1997) or Suzuki Baleno (1999 era).. Well after a hell of a lot of digging around I found a few other varients based upon the domani, and thus sharing the majority of parts with MA/B/C/EG/DC2... Enter the ring... Honda City Type-SZ (SX8) Now I have to apologise if the quality of the images are terrible, I'm on limited internet service at work and they block sites such as Flickr, Photbucket, Imgur etc What I'm hoping is that we can gather up any images of City's, Baleno's, Gemini's, Acura's, Domani's, MA/B/Cs and compile them into a somewhat of a image knowledge base so people can get inspiration and ideas for projects. I love the VTI-S kit how it sets off the bubbly "soft" lines and makes the car look more aggressive but I'd love to see a bit more creativity with the MB. If you've got a few pictures please post them up, would be fantastic to get them together in one place Aug 18th: I'm now making this a thread dedicated to gaining inspiration for your project!

    So I'm Finch! I've been here before by many names with many cars over the years but this ones the one to stay, I've never really progressed very far with a build blog as I tend to forget to take pictures! Not this time! The car has been posted once before under another name but I thought I'd start again and in a few days time when works less hectic get the DSLR out and take some decent pictures. The car is a (fairly) stock 1.4 Sport MB8 in Knighthawk Black. It has AC, PS, Alloys and Electric windows as standard and the same interior as the VTI-S/MB6 for all intents and purposes. I picked the car up in February I think it was and paid £400 with 160k on the clocks which rapidly climbed to 182k by this morning (I do ALOT of driving). I took the car for MOT on Sat and it passed with flying colours, only two advisories; Small oil leak (coming from the filter seal on inspection) and bushing on steering rack is worn. Both will be remedied in following days! In the last few days I suspected a headgasket issue due to steam coming from around the head and burbling and bubbling in the overflow/expansion tank, I did a tstat change and fluid renewell about a month ago (do it every 3 or so months). Did a compression test this morning (dry, cold start) before work and got 220 215 225 217 so I was both very pleased and very confused to say the least! I expected a really really low value somewhere though I have no loss of power or anything. So I bled the system and tada the engine has stayed cool today and the heaters were warm! though I'm keeping water with me incase! I gave my MOT tester a call and he said he'd looked at the fluids to make sure levels were good due to the small oil leak so I'm now wondering if there was an air-lock caused by him checking the water level. In the first 3 days of owning the car I had already ordered a bunch of stuff and dug-out a few bits I already owned. They claimed to have fitted them to the car and tried to charge me £160 ON TOP for fitting) Rover 45 Deflectors - £25 - Fleabay Owned: Defi Advance ZD Clubsport gauge set - ¥60000 / £600~ - Bought it in Japan for my S14 @ Super Autobacs VertexJAPAN 7-Star deep-dish leather steering wheel (330mm) - ¥39850 / £300 - Bought it in Japan for my S14 @ Super Autobacs Made: Few stickers - I owned a vinyl cutter until 3 weeks ago when I sold it Resistor / Fuse pack for my airbag light I got sick of the sagging headlining and door card material hanging more than the back lips of a 40year old babestation model so pulled it all out, leaving back door cards with material and the fronts without.. for now! I'm fitting the rest of the kit on Sunday will then clean her again and will dig the camera out and take some proper shots!     Cheers! Really needed the car Mrs has hospital appt tomorrow and then we have a funeral on Tue about 60miles away so can't be faffing with waiting on ebay or amazon! Going to do the other side this Friday all being well! and then get the suspension swapped over (already did one shock on the same side that boiljoint went on). My MB2 was on much better (less stressed) shocks because it was all motorway miles on the shell, so those are going in with a liberal coat of copper grease and LM2 grease. I don't have £ for coilovers just yet. I'd rather get my turbo build finished up. Managed to do a deal with a friend in the states; I build up a full AN6 fuel line kit, filters, fuel rail for their EK Coupe and they'll send me a Z6 crank . For those who don't know the Z6 has 2 oil holes per journal vs the others which have 1! The Z6 oil pump also has about 40% more oil-output which might is my next major step along once the crank is here!

    Had a bit of a s**tter on thursday night, short-story: driver thought it was a great idea to over take me on an island, I braked and moved over, clipped a curb and snapped a ball joint. Then waited 3.5hrs with police for recovery because I was blocking the road!! Recovery dumped my car in the street rather than the driveway so I had to work in the road Motorfactors round corner had no idea what I meant when I asked for a Ball joint press tool so had to improvise! Used a variety of G Clamps and sockets, and a copper-hide hammer and popped both bits out in an hour. Then I spent an hour looking for my snap ring pliers, bloody things. All done Even got chance to fit the Sport interior from the MB2 Much better!

    Bought a D16y8 block for £50! The guy left everything including the engine loom so I started stripping it today; Test fitted a new hi-flo fuel rail and KC-TBS throttle body spacer/vortex ring which will help with volume when I come to boost the block Also had some AN Lines, Fuel filter, line attachment and flare tool delivered. DPD dropped off an order from HTUNE (Takata 6pt harness & NRG Short hub) Autodoc shipped my ball joints and rear trailing arm bushes. Adam Rafique at RHD delivered a VTIS kit for the deck Got a fair few other things on order too. Lets build a fast Deck!

    I looked at about 50 different estates, including an Evo9 MR350 estate thing but nothing has really made me go nuts, the Evo was always a pipedream I'm working in oxford so an 80mi round trip a day and an evo (well my lead foot) certainly wouldn't be very fuel efficient I've started building a K26 block but I can't see it going in the deck, I might however build a D16 turbo

    what turbo/turbo kit?

    Have a T3 / .63AR turbo here if you want it, £50. Was on a D16Z6 making 334hp / 267ft-lb @ 8300 to wheels on 22psi - YCP Vitara pistons / Tunertoys rods, ACL bearings, ARP head studs, 1200cc injectors, 330lph pump, Y8 intake manifold bored and honed, head work (Supertech valvetrain etc) and D15B JDM cam, PTFE gaskets on intake, ported head and a ported, polished, shimmed and clearanced oil pump.

    As long as they're both fork and not cable they'll work together, you'll get faster accel but slower top speed. Could always build a hybrid with D15 final drive.

    It is, The Aerodeck needs more work underneath rectifying rust and bent jacking points than I'm willing to put in right now and I've started a new business so that needs all my time - I'll no-doubt be back though If I ever get another deck/mb I'd love to do all out full resto with sandblasted and dipped shell, engine swap, wire tuck and an updated interior

    Doing some work on the car as the suns out, I have new tools and I need to sort out the calipers MB2 262s now off ready to replace the sticky one on the MC- I'm replacing both after a refurb tomorrow - new seals and grease to go in Added a few new stickers, some from states, some from Japan and few from eBay...     Ah fair enough, I thought you were rebuilt it with pistons / rods etc aswell at same time. YCP Pistons did me well in my D16 before - They offer some B16/18/20 high comp pistons. I'm going Wiesco 10.5 compression and Carillo K20 Rods with my K24 build

    Finally got round to doing some stuff ready for MOT on Thursday, realised the heat shields have seen better days!! I got DBA cerametallic pads all round, ADL MGZS discs Front and Ridex rears, MGZS 282 carriers and VTIS front calipers, Nippart 1" MC I noticed the rear left is jammed/siezed as the boot is missing so Im going to pull them off the Civic Sport leaving me with 282/262 as it currently sits I'm trying to get the coilovers and arms fitted but need to cut off some bolts

    So last few days I was looking for some bits for a project I'm going to be starting along side the deck (I'm now stripping MB2 Sport to build a Aerodeck Sport of kind...) Discovered these images which show basically MB lights on an Accord, or what looks to be! One or two of the images show a bumper similar to the MB as well so now looking at the accord cd6 lower lip I found on one of the eBay sales... If its cheap enough I might fit it to my Deck' since I won't have deck rear bumper lip and will be utilising the VTIS kit front/skirts

    For that money id build an Accord 2.4 / k24, performance oriented Service, ARPs, Ep3 head, 4-2-1, RBC manifold, Stage 1 cams, PRB ecu, Ktuner, map by Romain make 275 at wheels all day and for about £4-4.5k. Available in Hearse for @UnicyclingTom aswell 6 speed, lovely cars, gearbox is buttery smooth and so is ride - currently have one I'm pulling running gear out of for a secret project

    NGK Plugs are my recommended - They produce for Honda anyway as far as I know. I'd look for a DC2 airbox and drop in a DC2 Pipercross or K&N filter

    So Saturday was a roasting day here so I got cracking. Sadly only managed to get Toe and Camber arms at the rear fitted as the LCAs and Coilover bolts were well and truely stuck. Got new discs and pads all round to go on this weekend aswell I'm going to give it another crack this week and get out the grinder if all else fails I'll cut off the captive nut at the back and just throw on a nylock on the new LCA bolt In other news everything is now here for a MOT time and once that's done and out the way in a few weeks I'll crack on - also a VTIS rear arb here to go on as well as the rest of the bushing I'm looking to swap out now
