  1. Can't beat the look of fresh shiney paint mate! I really have to get DD's front end done this year. We should hopefully be moving to our new cottage so once the new garage is built will try and make time to do this as I'd love to do it myself (went to college for this years ago and passed the course, sprayed loads of cars but not done any proper spraying for a long time!) Really loving this rebuild mate, she already looked amazing but this will take her to way above the next level! Really want to see this in the metal one day! Oh, on a side note, JordanH on here lives just along the road from me. He's also got a VTiS aerodeck he's restoring so seeing as we've not seen each other in ages he's coming along tomorrow then we're off down to his unit to see the progress on his aerodeck. Sooo loking forward to it! I'll get him to have a look at this for inspiration mate!

    D16 or B18

The prefacelift civic M's are rare in the uk now adays mate, the MB1 SR is uber rare. I'd be tempted to mod the original engine if it's in good shape. B18 DOHC VTECwill give you 169BHP standard out of the box and can be taken up over 200BHP, but it drives totally different to the D series SOHC VTEC. Another reason why I'd keep it original.

    Advice needed

    Hehehe.....now the fun part begins!!
  4. This is the part of car restorations I love! Body prep all done, masking all done......time to spray! I LOVE spray painting! Can I be cheeky and ask how much it's costing you to get the whole side painted mate?
  5. Hang on, is yours an 1.6 SR, as it says LS in your profile bit? As the MB1 is an SR if its the pre facelft model. Has it deffo got mb1 on the chassis plate?
  6. Chassis plate in the engine bay will confirm exactly mate.

    Help

For fitting a steering wheel, see this thread. Although it's fitting a non-aftermarket whell, it gives you an idea whats involved. I'ts quite eaasy tbh depending on what your fitting. If its an after market wheel, you'll also need the boss. If you cant find an MB Civic specific boss, the DC2/eg civic ones fit ours. For the srs airbag reset, see our how to guide here in the downloads section >>> https://civic5.com/forum/files/file/16-how-to-guide-no3-reset-the-srs-light/ Hope this helps. Dave

    My new german

Gotta say I'm impressed with this mate. Having a go at this yourself is really ballsy and the results so far look awesome
  10. jeese, that's a hella long time to have been without Tubs! Good thing is though that with all that cycling you've done in that year you'll be a lot fitter when you do drive her again lol
  11. Loving the work that's going into her mate. Proper restoration, will make her good as new again and future proof too. Tubs is well on her way to her come back tour!

It's the 180 set up mate as the 120 is basically standard suspension.

lol my memory isn't what it used to be!
  14. Be wary, some of the ebay coilovers are pretty poor quality mate and can have a terrible harsh ride. There are some that are ok but at £170 brand new I'd expect them to be bad. Oem suspension even costs more new than that.
  15. Similar to cups, nice wee dish on them too. On one of our St Mary's Loch meet videos there's a green mb2 that has a similar wheel in silver. Does look good!
  16. Happy new year to you Jake! How the hell is your car so bloody clean!!? lol DD is a real dirty girl at the moment! VTiS looking amazing bud Some stunning Civic M's for 2020 so far....keep em coming folks!
  17. Yes, they're a bit like OZ Superlegeras.
  18. You can go as big as 17's, maybe even 18's at a push although the 18's would destroy handling and ride. The best size seems to be 15's, which gives you unlimited choices in the style of wheels. I have 16's on the aerodeck, so kinda went in the middle. All depends on your taste, because even though I personally prefer 15's/16's, they do look cool on 17's.
  19. That is an absolute bargain!!!! Pre-facelift civic m's are really rare now so to get one with that mileage and condition for that price you've done very well! Looking forward to seeing more photos of this one. Whats your plans for it mate? Dave

Yes, the MGZS springs are already a tad lower than ours. Simon (Dr Broon) aerodeck has them fitted along with 17'rims and looks cool. Think Toms (Unicyclyingtom) Aerodeck also had the same set up.
