  1. So, DD's new (old) standard 14" steel winter wheels and winter tyres are ready to fit. They don't have centre caps though and not sure if you can even get them for the steelies? Anyone know what size they are?
  2. So, did a quick refurb of the wheels yesterday (was around -2 degrees here but had the heater on in the garage so nice and toasty!). Lots of surface rust on the inside of the rims, so attacked that with wire brush on the drill, Flappy disc on the drill then finished off with a sand by hand. After prepping/sanding And repainted in black. Was going to respray them, but it's a hassle keeping the paint off the tyres (the tyres were the important part here! lol) so decided that as they are only winter wheels, brush painted with smooth Hammerite was the way to go. Quite pleased with DD's Ghetto look wheels lol. Least once fitted I'll know she has some decent grip to keep her out of the ditches/kerbs once the snow comes.
  3. lmao I just did that in reverse order from you!!!!!! pmsl
  4. Browsing autotrader to see just how many civic Ms are still out there for sale and stumbled across this! Pre facelift civic M with.............14K on the clock and in pristine condition!!! Looks like it just rolled out the factory!! 7 Price seems high, but that just looks so mint. I wouldn't want to mod it, has to stay as is imo. Autotrader link
  5. Niiiiiiice!! Tubs is going to have a nice wee boost in power with those bad boys!
  6. Nice long run today! We went to view a house down in Lauder, then had arranged to meet Simon (Dr Broon) down in Kielder Forest. Simon kindly donated a full set of winter wheels/winter tyres for DD (Much thanks mate!! ) so we went down to collect them and have a catch up and blether. Run down was amazing! We tried to stay on the A68 as long as we could (sat nav constantly trying to send us on every road to the right of the A68) but eventually turned off onto this single track road (wish I could remember the number of it!) which was initially covered in wet mud for about the first half a mile. DD got covered in crap, the dirty girl! Road eventually opened up onto the best bit of tarmac I've driven on yet! Windy road, where you could see through the next 3 to 4 corners easily, surrounded but massive drops off the edge of the road into valleys and stunning scenery. DD was in her element, huging the corners with Gayle totally enjoying the run. She said we are deffo going to return there in Mindy the MX5!! Roads were just amazing!. Got Gayle to take some photos en route (we didnt get the best bit as we only thought about photos further down the road!! lol ) Crossing the border into England. What a dirty girl DD! lol smile dear, we're taking a photie! Finally back home. Don't think I've ever seen DD so filthy! Will be getting a bath asap! Her new winter shoes. Tyres are like new. Going to give the wheels a quick refurb/spray before fitting. Can't thank Simon enough for these, really appreciate it mate. Was so good to meet up again as it's been a while since the last time! Great blether, even if our initial meeting point was closed and we had no way of calling you (zero phone signal there!) to let you know we were at the visitor centre! lol Saw this lovely Honda Accord tourer go tearing past and thought yup, there goes Simon! lmao. Great trip, great chat and DD's posh wheels will be saved the ravages of winter!
  7. Thanks guys, yeah she's all clean again now though lol. I'm thinking of a plan regarding using DD as my daily though. I really don't want to sell the mk1 mx5 to get a mk3 mx5 daily driver, so thinking can use DD as the daily and then come spring/summer/autumn alternate between DD and the mx5. Will give DD a break and help spread the miles between the two. Will also give me a chance to take DD off the road for a bit to get everything cleaned underneath prior to getting finishing off the undersealing/suspension and subframe painting.
  8. Couple of photos of Dirty DD tonight. We went to see the new film "Le Mans" with Matt Damon playing the part of Carroll Shelby. Awesome film, and never knew about his actual racing driver friend Ken Myles who had had such an input into the development and actual racing of the Ford GT40. Man was amazing, and should have won the Le Mans race. That photo of the 3 GT40's crossing the finishing line together has a whole new meaning to me now after seeing the film. Highly recommended seeing it! And thanks to my Gayle for finding the film as it isn't advertised much.
  9. Will grab a pic tonight of the rather dirty girl that DD is at the moment lol Off to the cinema in the peeing rain (least its got an indoor car park lol)
  10. Lol, DD was doing sometimes less than 500 miles between mot's mate! Now she's starting her new role as my daily driver she's already put on 700 miles this month! The ATR seats are niiiice! Prefer them to dc2's
  11. Forgot to update this! Wee Carly Cooper is sold, and have been driving DD as my daily for the past month. Shes been getting a lot dirtier than she's been for a long time (not really been outside the garage in winter since 2012) so many hours spent washing her to keep this crappy salt off her. Shes also been putting on the miles! Normally between 500 miles to at most 1500 miles a year.......... she's done around 700 miles or more in the month since i sold Carly! And have to say, shes been driving absolutely spot on. Really like driving her although missing the mpg of the mini and the fact i could throw the mini around without a care in the world but obvs DD gets driven with much more caution! One bad thing though......as of next week, we no longer have the car park at work to park her in. Its been sold to build houses on. And as the surrounding car parks (including the one Carly got hit in) are all full before 8am, i have nowhere safe to park her. Really pissed off as i know the area/town (i was brought up there) and know its rough as hell. Theres also parky wardens on the go so going to be struggling to find anywhere to park her. The hunt continues!....... Will get a wee pic up soon of DD in her new role cos not had a photo of her for a while.
  12. Such a special civic M this! Looking forward to seeing the VTiS skirts on her Mae

    Brake lines/pipes

Hi Danny Doubtful they still make them new for off the shelf so you'll need to get one made up. If they do still have them on the shelf then It'll be a Honda dealership part. Most garages should be able to make one up for you but you will either need to take the car to them (which will be difficult as no brakes!) or see if you can remove the pipe and take it with you. Shouldn't cost that much as that's a fairly short pipe.
  14. Think the only differences were with the pre facelift models. The seat backs had a different size of catch if i remember rightly, so you had to swap those over if swapping seats between facelift/pre facelift. Oh, and your car is the MC2 aerodeck mate (5 door vti/vtis are mb6, aerodeck vti/vtis are mc2)
  15. Oh, and get some photos of that MA9 posted!! Love the pre-facelift civic m's, and they're also getting rare nowadays.
  16. As far as i remember the later mb2/mb3 civics used the same air boxes, so any d14, d15 or d16 air boxes will fit bud.
  17. What show were you at mate? Be surprised how many owners of older classic cars actually welcome our modern classics at shows. Loving the mods mate, especially the rota grids! One of my fav wheels. Shes looking good!
  18. Agree Gerry, I found the Cooper has just enough power to have good fun with but still manage amazing mpg, cheap tax and insurance into the bargain. Carly was stiff compared to MINI One's, but deffo not too harsh. Really missing that wee car!! Yup, will do Simon, she was one of the best cars I've owned from and "all-round" point of view. Slowly getting used to driving DD every day, feels strange as normally she only comes out for a run then tucked away again, but using every day and being my only car (well, my daily anyway, still got Mindy for now although that might be changing very soon!) feels very odd!. Do enjoy driving her but also find it a bit stressful seeing her getting dirty, and hate leaving her parked anywhere. Oh, and to cap it all, kerbed a bloody alloy today! Not happy!
  19. That was deffo a steal! Looking forward to seeing where you take this one. Love an aerodeck (but then I'm biased! lol )

    New mb6

Nice!!! Glad you finally got one. Whats the stats on it?
  21. So I've gone and done it. Sold Carly tonight Know there aren't many here who rate/like the MINI, but I can honestly say, hand on heart she was one of the best cars I've ever owned. Didn't want to sell here, but as you may have read in DD's thread for various reasons I'm having to cut back on my collection of cars due to trying to find a new house in the country. We can't find one that can house all my cars so I'm having to sell off Carly, and possibly Mindy my mk1 mx5. DD has now been put into service full time as my daily car for now. Plan is (Hopefully) I'll buy a newer MX5 as a daily runner (with folding har top) and DD will then return to snooze in a garage of which I don't actually know what type of garage it will be! If plans change, I may keep Mindy and just use DD as the permanent daily, although I really don't want to drive her all year round. Can't believe wee Carly Cooper is gone (sold to a guy at my work for his wife). As a daily she was perfect, cheap to tax, cheap to insure, great on fuel, mega fun to drive with enough power to have a blast. And dare I say it, the absolute best handling car I've ever driven. Driving home from work today for the last time (I always come home on the back roads which are great fun!) I really thought to myself why the hell am I selling this!!! Then leaving her at my workmates and going home was really hard. Can't believe I've worked up a similar relationship with her that I had with Ruby. Got DD all ready for her daily duties, but just know I'm gonna miss Carly so much. So, time to bring her thread to a close....... bye bye Carly, love ya and miss ya x
