    Brake lines/pipes

Hi Danny Doubtful they still make them new for off the shelf so you'll need to get one made up. If they do still have them on the shelf then It'll be a Honda dealership part. Most garages should be able to make one up for you but you will either need to take the car to them (which will be difficult as no brakes!) or see if you can remove the pipe and take it with you. Shouldn't cost that much as that's a fairly short pipe.
  2. Think the only differences were with the pre facelift models. The seat backs had a different size of catch if i remember rightly, so you had to swap those over if swapping seats between facelift/pre facelift. Oh, and your car is the MC2 aerodeck mate (5 door vti/vtis are mb6, aerodeck vti/vtis are mc2)
  3. Oh, and get some photos of that MA9 posted!! Love the pre-facelift civic m's, and they're also getting rare nowadays.
  4. As far as i remember the later mb2/mb3 civics used the same air boxes, so any d14, d15 or d16 air boxes will fit bud.
  5. What show were you at mate? Be surprised how many owners of older classic cars actually welcome our modern classics at shows. Loving the mods mate, especially the rota grids! One of my fav wheels. Shes looking good!
  6. Agree Gerry, I found the Cooper has just enough power to have good fun with but still manage amazing mpg, cheap tax and insurance into the bargain. Carly was stiff compared to MINI One's, but deffo not too harsh. Really missing that wee car!! Yup, will do Simon, she was one of the best cars I've owned from and "all-round" point of view. Slowly getting used to driving DD every day, feels strange as normally she only comes out for a run then tucked away again, but using every day and being my only car (well, my daily anyway, still got Mindy for now although that might be changing very soon!) feels very odd!. Do enjoy driving her but also find it a bit stressful seeing her getting dirty, and hate leaving her parked anywhere. Oh, and to cap it all, kerbed a bloody alloy today! Not happy!
  7. That was deffo a steal! Looking forward to seeing where you take this one. Love an aerodeck (but then I'm biased! lol )

    New mb6

Nice!!! Glad you finally got one. Whats the stats on it?
  9. So I've gone and done it. Sold Carly tonight Know there aren't many here who rate/like the MINI, but I can honestly say, hand on heart she was one of the best cars I've ever owned. Didn't want to sell here, but as you may have read in DD's thread for various reasons I'm having to cut back on my collection of cars due to trying to find a new house in the country. We can't find one that can house all my cars so I'm having to sell off Carly, and possibly Mindy my mk1 mx5. DD has now been put into service full time as my daily car for now. Plan is (Hopefully) I'll buy a newer MX5 as a daily runner (with folding har top) and DD will then return to snooze in a garage of which I don't actually know what type of garage it will be! If plans change, I may keep Mindy and just use DD as the permanent daily, although I really don't want to drive her all year round. Can't believe wee Carly Cooper is gone (sold to a guy at my work for his wife). As a daily she was perfect, cheap to tax, cheap to insure, great on fuel, mega fun to drive with enough power to have a blast. And dare I say it, the absolute best handling car I've ever driven. Driving home from work today for the last time (I always come home on the back roads which are great fun!) I really thought to myself why the hell am I selling this!!! Then leaving her at my workmates and going home was really hard. Can't believe I've worked up a similar relationship with her that I had with Ruby. Got DD all ready for her daily duties, but just know I'm gonna miss Carly so much. So, time to bring her thread to a close....... bye bye Carly, love ya and miss ya x
  10. Hmm, it's space too though. Plans have changed yet again! The house we'd looked at is now off the table. Both agree it's just too far away from work miles wise, and also it needs the whole electric heating system ripped out and complete new oil fired C/H installed which will cost a lot (Just my new combi boiler alone here was 4K to remove old one and install the new one, using existing radiators etc) so much as we both love that house, it's a no go. We've now found one just outside Galashiels, which has a built in garage, although not sure on what size yet till we get inside. Had a sneaky look around as its empty, and with a lot of work could clear a space to the side of the house for another driveway. Again, lot of work and money, and its on at offers over 200k which it has no chance of getting, So we might put a cheeky offer in on that ans see what happens. But deffo looks like we won't have space for all the cars (stepdaughter has now passed her test and also has a car, so we have 5 cars in all!). The daily commute from there though is a bit easier....29 miles each way
  11. Shit is it 24k a year???? Bloody hell, hadn't thought of it like that! That is a hella lot for any car. Yeah, having Mindy to work on was great therapy, although after the illness i wasn't allowed to work on her (not that that stopped me! ). I can now but tbh, the stuff that needs done is mainly the new sills at rear (although they're solid enough for now, just unsightly) so that's holding up getting the bodywork ready for respray (plus total lack of funds!). Underneath needs the whole lot wire brushed then car sent away to have dinitrol or something similar done inc chassis rails injected along with the sills. I cant get the car high enough to be able to work comfortably underneath. Needs some of those raisable ramps at around £300 a pair. Theres plenty to do, but i dont have the time, money or equipment to do it just now. Did also fancy learning to weld so i could tackle that side of things myself but then theres the cost of the course, time, money for the welding gear etc.. You're right again Gerry........ decisions decisions, who needs them!!!!!! Lol Will need to think this through carefully.
  12. Thanks Jake and good advice. Have done the whole centre floor of the car (from bulkhead to rear end of sills. Need to get inner wings done and rear arches/boot floor. Think if she does go daily, I'll deffo need to whip the side skirts off and maybe see about getting dinitrol injected in there. Still got vtis side skirts sitting in the wings but not sure if I'll fit them or not.
  13. Lol now that's no funny Gerry! We'd originally planned to move to Spain but that idea has been canned! Lol (just back from there too and i already miss the sun! Lol Deffo correct on the bmw money pit though! Everything's got lots of £££££ signs where they are concerned, including the MINI's. Just wondering how old DD would cope with the daily use. Work would be around 38 miles one way, so almost 80miles a day, 5 days a week. Think she'd deffo need to be on oem suspension as they do get the snow bad down there. Do love driving DD, although she's just a cruiser. Doesnt have the power or handling of the mini to have fun in, but then i don't drive DD that way anyways. Thing that worries me most is if someone crashes into her (not just during winter) would break my heart to see her smashed up. Know she would be written off too. Suppose its something we need to just accept might/might never happen. Suppose it would do her good to get more use.
  14. Lol these MX5s dissolve in the rain mate! Plus being the soft top, shes an easy target for thieves. The area where i work has loads of undesirables so would be stressed out every time i left her parked. The other things are these mk1's are are pretty basic, unrefined cars. I love driving her on a hot sunny day along all the A and B roads, but in winter, hood up, theyre quite noisy. Deffo not the kinda of car id have as a daily! Lol
  15. So, been thinking of late. We are looking for a new house in the Scottish borders due to the local teenagers here becoming ferile rats! We'll be moving to a wee village somewhere (once we find the right house, which we may have done now fingers crossed). Unfortunately, we struggled to find a house with a double garage so have had to settle on a single built into house garage. There is scope for building another one out the back though at some point. Which got me going down the same road I did when I had Ruby, Lexy and DD (for those that don't recogise the names, my 1998 civic mb6, 2011 Civic TypeS and my 1999 Civic Aerodeck) in that I'm thinking of downscaling how many cars i've got (yes, here we go again). My current cars are a 2008 Mini Cooper (Carly Cooper) which has been an amazingly fun daily runner (cheap to run, and lots of fun),and Mindy (my mk1 MX5) has only been here a year and was meant to be a project. Oh, and DD, who is one that is deffo staying no matter what. First thought I had was this........We'll call this plan A.....sell Carly and Mindy and buy a newer MK3 MX5 with folding hardtop to have as my daily. The mk1 only comes out in the decent weather, so not used very much (although we have done over 3k in year in her) so would be nice to have one that I could drive all year round. Would be as much fun as Carly (maybe even more) although not as cheap to run. Then there's plan B. See, the mk1 mx5 was a car I always wanted, and Gayle also loves Mindy. Another thing about the mk1 was it would be a wee investment. So kinda torn about selling it, but know I'm not getting any younger (heart attack proved that!) so restoring her will become harder. Still, there's something about a mk1 so Plan B is sell Carly, keep the mk1 MX5 and put DD on the road as the daily. Would mean her being on the road all year round, even in the snow. Would also mean driving her when there's tons of salt on the road. I would be changing back to her original oem suspension if she was a daily though, can't be arsed with a lowered car as a daily. What does everyone else think?
  16. But then youll have the satisfaction of driving something different to all the other bland modern boxes on the road.....and being able to blow them away! Plus theres the love youve built up with tubs.
  17. Lol it was all because all the honda sites were for 3 door civics and civic coupes......i went and joined with my 5 door and was ridiculed! So i thought bugger it! I'll create a site for 5 doors only! The rest, they say, is history.
  18. Lol and the 5 in Civic5 is for civic "5" door. Also looks like civics. And there the confusion ended and the yin and yan was duly restored......or sumfin! Lol
  19. Wow....oh, and did i forget to say...WOW! Looking amazing, turbo is tight fit but glad you got it in there!
  20. Looking good mate. Quite liked the camo tbh, bit different.
  21. Nice bit of info Kal, thanks for sharing this. I reckon with the age of these Civics now there will probably be quite a few having this issue.
