Engine gets up to temp no probs, and heat is fine if I've given it a bit more stick. The thermostat is only a few years old (i know that doesn't mean much though ) Think that it's worse at the minute because I'm waiting for a new resistor pack so the fans are on 3, and think that it's cooling it down even quicker. If i turn the fans off for a few mins it's warm for a little while then cools down pretty quick. And it's fookin freezing at the mo

Ooh..good call Dave. Oem stylee

Now that there's no air con rad the heating in my car really seems to struggle to get warm unless the engine's been worked a bit, but pootling around in traffic the temp really drops. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm thinking about rigging up some kind of blanking plate to sit where the air con rad used to be. I'm sure i remember one of the guys from eastern Europe having something that covered the whole of the grille area for this reason?

Was just wondering if you were nearly there yesterday

I remember @DeLaSoul was doing a hub swap for 5 stud integra hubs on his build. Don't know if that opens up more choice?

By single vtec do you mean no iabs? The p28 doesn't have iab control as standard and needs extra components added to be able to.

Hope you get it sorted bud

HELP! Anyone got a 99 Civic heater fan motor for sale??
dr_broon replied to jacktar's question in SOS! Help!!
I've had this worth mine as well (know of other members that have too). It doesn't seem to be as bad as it was, but sometimes it would start to work after giving the fan a knock. -
Either the chip or the socket. If some of the soldering has gone on the socket it would be the same as the chip going... If you know what I mean? Coz then the ecu wouldn't be able to read the chip. Not sure how you can test to see if it is the connections to the socket though.. Maybe auto electrician or even an electronics / tv repair place if you tell them what it is you are wanting them to check.
-
Would it be worth trying what kink suggested to see if it is the ecu or the socket / chip / map? Especially if you are thinking of ditching that one?
-
Think that the sst chips are pretty much the main (if not only?) one that's used. The chips themselves aren't that expensive...about a fiver. Obviously it's the Map that costs. I'd they've still got the Map then they should be able to sort it out.
-
This is how I've left my p28 project when i spat the dummy out with getting sick of taking it out and putting it back in again and having to disable a different sensor. My light was on solid, with no flashes, but I'm hoping that the Map just ended up being corrupted, but I'm still in the huff with it.
-
I'd there's no flashes, that normally means that the ecu is goosed but with it being chipped it's more likely the chip has got a problem or like ali says the map. If the mechanic plugs it in and finds that it's the ecu, it could still be just the chip as that's where the map lives.
-
Should still be able to read the code from the ecu by bridging the pins and counting the flashes with the p28

Sounds like the best plan since you know that the box is a good one. 4.9 will make a huge difference, but your revs will be much higher in 5th on motorway speeds etc. Mfactory used to have a gear calculator on their website.. You can add the ratios for the s9b from the link on the above to see what revs you'll be doing at what speeds for different final drives.
-
It was me I've got a final drive out of an s80 (4.7) in my s9 box, but with a longer 5th gear from an integra ls to keep the revs low on motorways etc. Love it Got the fd second hand of eBay, and got the longer 5th from honda in the states (us model integra). Also needed a 1st gear from the teg type r to fit on the fd shaft (same ratio though).

Ha ha... That'll be nuts. You'll suprise a few people with that

Nearly there

Civicned = civicchav for you southern chaps

That's cack... Especially given the time of year. Like you say though at least it happened when it did and nothing bad happened.
