  1. I personally think it would look too plain with a de-tango. I'm just going to fix it and drive it really. Concentrate on the Deck..
  2. Thanks mate! Yeah I have already rebuilt the engine. If you go back a page, you'll see. It lost compression on either number 2 or 3 piston and the valve stem seals were a gonner.... I was going to B18 it but I have such a soft spot for these engines. Plus I always wanted to rebuild one
  3. Cheers! I'm replacing the brake pipes tomorrow so it should look loads better again. The car looks a right tip at the moment!
  4. Replaced the fuel pipes today. What an absolute nightmare to do and the sub-frame had to be dropped with wasn't too bad. Still got the brake pipes to replace and other bits and bobs before the engine goes back in! I've also got a mint fuel tank coming next week from a MB Breaker and got an new oil pump. I'm getting really excited now!
  5. D15's only have 2 compression rings and 1 oil ring. I thought D16's would be the same but I have never took one apart..
  6. Yeah £42 for all 4 piston rings (2 rings and 1 oil ring for each piston) Does seem a bit too cheap to me but matey who ordered them reckons they're very good. We'll see aye.... Ideal! So engine out again then!
  7. Where did you get the sun roof deflector?! I been wanting one for ages! Looking good btw mate
  8. Just had a little catch up one ere because I have been slacking to visit the forum lately, so you're not the only mate Sounds awesome with that decat and those new hoses look well nice! I hope you get that problem sorted out
  9. That's a really good price to be fair but do they really need it? Your D16z6 engine has only done 100'000 miles if I remember correctly? I paid £42 for NPR piston rings. Wish I got OEM ones from that Jap Service Parts that you suggested to me haha!
  10. Just had another look and nothing,I will email them. Matey who done the machine work on the engine has ordered the rings and shells so not sure. But I ordered the head-gasket kit, cambelt kit and bits from Mills
  11. Thanks @Chandler Just had a quick look on there and I couldn't find anything. I'll have a proper look after work. Tell you what though, wish I knew that sight before I rebuilt the engine. So much good quality parts at good prices!
  12. What Chandler said... remove the power steering. Less parts means less to go wrong and build your arms up I will be doing this once I know how to do it lol
  13. Some say the D17 lump is pants but I am very surprised how quick this thing is. Reliability wise... not as good as the other D and B series engines
  14. Umm yeah? Done 5000 miles since head gasket been done, so all good
  15. Can't help it! naa I don't buy from eBay a lot. Most of the engine rebuild stuff came from mill autos and Honda
  16. Because I cannot afford it, one on ebay for 160 odd quid but I still need a oil pump which is more important really..
  17. Whilst the Aerodeck is getting some surgery done, I still needed to get myself to work and whatnot. I have always fancied a EM2 as love the shapes of them. So I seen this Champaign Gold EM2 with 157k on it on Gumtree. It was only a 20 mile drive to pick it up and paid 450 squids for it! I was happy as larry but a week later the head-gasket went. So it didn't start off well but it's all fixed now apart from a whiney gearbox (input shaft bearings) Not long after, I lowered it on 40mm springs and fitted a straight pipe as the back box was blocked.. nah that's a lie, I just wanted noise Anyways here it is....
  18. I love these motors! Nice choice mate
  19. To be honest I haven't wire tucked it yet. I have re-routed the drivers side headlight harness and took the fuse box out to see how to get round that, that's pretty much it... Today I have ordered a Gates cambelt kit (comes with new water pump) APL clutch kit and a new sump gasket. I am struggling to buy a lightweight flywheel at this time. A bit annoying as I really want to get it all back together to get the engine running, just incase... Tomorrow's job is replacing all the brake and fuel pipes for copper pipes. One job I hate doing
  20. Love the work you have put into this yet again @Chandler That curly manifold made me melt. It's looks insane! Are those gold engine mounts listed as EK, EG or just D-series mounts? I got a set of silvers ones on watch which look simular to yours but not sure if they'll fit?
  21. I didn't think calipers from a Prelude would fit any MB chassis? I now got MB6 calipers & carriers. Just need MB6 pads & MGZS disc now
