Another aerodeck added to speed Equips collection 10/06/14
Dave replied to 10000rpm's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
This is looking superb mate, very nice choice of mods you've done to her! Should get some vinyls made up advertising the company, would look awsome! -
Also decided today to put Ruby into daily use through the summer (and use the deck too) and put Lexy in the garage. That way it will keep them all in good mechanical order (and allow some posing! lol)

hehe, the next one is gonna look the same, but with a big difference to the lettering! Forgot to say the spark plug cover is getting sprayed same colour as the car, that's how it looks a bit pants! The cover has been sanded ready for painting Next up will be new sparkplug leads in red, new samco hoses (not sure if they will be red, might clash) then all brackets in the bay prepped and painted or polished. Getting fender washers in anodised red too along with a battery clamp. The slam panel will be getting sprayed too to freshen it up a bit too.

"What the Heck??" Smitty_Works MC3 Aerodeck
Dave replied to Smitty_Works's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
I'll go accept that right now for you mate -
lol update time! Krzys you is right mate, had to replace both rear calippers, and one of the ones i bought (both reconditioned calippers) was the wrong one, so took time to go get it exchanged etc. Glad to report though, brakes all replaced now, fluid replaced with dot 5.1 racing fluid, and she's match fit again! Now for the blingy bit! I bought another cam cover from a member on here, and decided to fit it so I could get Rubys original one stripped and prepped for customizing. The one I bought had been done red, so looked decent, although the red was starting to flake off with it lying about the garage. Anyways, hit a big problem when getting the rocker cover off! All the nuts came off easy appart from the one in the corner next to the oil filler cap. This just kept spinning! A call to Rich @civicturbo79 and it was decided that the stud must be fooked! So went to Honda and ordered up a new stud, along with new washers and nice new shiney chrome rocker cover nuts. Got the stud out and cover off with help from @Jim (big thanks mate!) so time to fit her newly finished cover! I spent ages metal polishing it, but decided rather than have the whole cover metal polished like most do, I wanted to have some of her body colour on the cover too. So after much work, here's how she looks now under the bonnet! Also forgot about the vtec solenoid cover and rad bracket I bought a while back, so first pics of them are there to see! The offending stud now replaced with new one Lots of new wee bits from Honda! Cover done Rubys bay! The cover isnt 100% perfect, as the masking tape pulled some paint off! But now I know where I went wrong, I'm doing the same with the spare cover only this time it'll be spot on and with a twist! Hope you like. Deck to do next!

"What the Heck??" Smitty_Works MC3 Aerodeck
Dave replied to Smitty_Works's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
Apparently the shipping costs to Germany aren't too bad nowadays mate. Best place to check is in our classifieds section, we have an MB breaker in there who always has a good stock of parts. Also check our Facebook page, two or more breakers in there mate, usually with a lot of aerodeck parts for sale too. -

lol I'll amend the forum description. I actually haven't seen one either, though knew Honda did make them! Will deffo be watching this one with interest! Great project mate! @DAVEMB2 Was the TD we had in the forum not a 5 door hatch mate? Can't seem to remember a TD Aerodeck before? -
They were a doddle to fit mate, and seem to fit a lot more snuggly than the Heko ones. deffo liking the look! lmao I am a FB hater, but thought I'd do it on there first and get my blurb in about them joining the forum lol patience TomTom lmao Been busy today so will see if I get a chance before work tomorrow night. Ta mate, she's a cracker, and want to get a lot more mods done, especially in the engine bay. Dawn always wanted her blinged, so bling it is! And I love a tidy engine bay, makes it so much nicer to work on without getting covered in oil and dirt. Gonna spend a lot more time on the deck now

Remember to "bake" the item you've sarayed for the specified time on the info sheet/side of can and at the specified temp, as this is what makes the lacquer "go off" and hardens it to provide a tough finish. If you're using spray equipment to do it, remember you need 1.The primer 2. The colour/base 3. The lacquer and also the hardener that gets mixed with it too. 4. Good quality 2pk thinners to mix all the paint with. 5. The right temp to spray in, and draught free. All will effect the final outcome of the spray job.

Been a while since I updated this, mainly due to DD hibernating in the garage over winter. She's been to a meet this year though, her first outing being the scottish meet/run. So, had her up to RJM Performance yesterday for her MOT. Wasnt sure really how it would go, as it sometimes does more harm than good being kept of the road. But as always, and keeping up her record of never failing an MOT, she passed with flying colours! Roy was even commenting how tidy she was looking, so was a nice feeling to know shes in top condition. And how many miles has she covered in 1 year?? 700 miles! lol Have added another mod to her, will get the pics up when I get the chance. Got her a set of Clim-Air wind deflectors. Was a hassle tho, as the first set arrived smashed to a thousand bits! Second set were perfect though, and looks good with her already having the sunroof wind deflector too. Also got a bit of bling for the engine bay too, so will get that fitted and get pics up!

I'm not a 100% sure but think there is a difference in the shafts mate. Try calling honda to check if there a different part numbers for manual/auto shafts to be sure I had the 1.4 auto and found it was quite good with the autobox, 1st gear was a hoot!

In practice it's always best to wait the appropriate drying time before applying the lacquer. Applying it before it cures means that the base won't properly harden, which will result in poor adhesion and more prone to chips and cracking. In theory, it does sound like the lacquer will stick better to a tacky base, but it won't last quite as long. Wet drying your colour coat before applying the lacquer will result in a much better finish, just make sure that the panel is completely dry before the lacquer goes on. Best person to talk to is Rich (civicturbo79) or contact him through Dynodaze.

I like the idea of the MGZS discs with the MB6 calippers and carriers. Thought about converting Rubys brakes to that so that the wheel options would be better (ie:4x100). Might still happen, would need to change the rear set up too.

Be very interested in this too mate, as the IAB coming in so late in the rev range is a bit frustrating, although I'm sure Honda had their reasons for it (maybe best balance of where the max torque is or something?) Keeo us updated on this bud as it's something I might consider getting done too. IAB at 4700rpm sounds like it would be fun!

My PB MB9 Aerodeck! Engine rebuild in progress
Dave replied to vtec2011's topic in Honda Civic MA/MB/MC
So glad you got this mate, good to see you back in another M. The deck is a great choice, and more and more people seem to be wanting a deck now. Liking your plans for this, and top work you've done on it already, really made a difference to it, specially in the engine bay! Keep up the good work! -

Looks really sweet mate! Did you do a hub conversion or did you find a set of speedlines in 4x100? They did them in that fitment for the EK4 VTiS. Love what youve done with it so far, looks subtle and white decks look amazing! -
Absolutely love this Deck! Amazing amount of work gone into it mate, and it shows! I need to see this in the metal! Epic build and epic car!
