  1. Well over here almost every car has one so I guess it's something you just take for granted and the thing that matters is just that it warms up the engine... i'll have to ask my friends if they've ever thought about how!
  2. Actually never even thought about what part of the engine exactly it warms up! But now i looked it up and yeah you're right, it's the coolant. Thanks .
  3. Ok so i got the stopper primed but when started spraying the actual color, found out that the 10-year old can didn't want to co-operate except by squirting out a wrinkle-style look, like on rocker covers! Actually looked kinda cool but i already have a can of VHT wrinkle plus and on this one i want a nice smooth finish... so until the next shopping trip. Instead i made a new mini-mod called block heater plug re-locate: If you couldn't spot it right away, then i guess i got it right! It used to be in the bay which was nice and subtle but since the new job i started last summer i've been driving to work every day. And once the weather dropped below zero it quickly became quite a chore to 4 times a day open the bonnet to either plug or unplug the heater wire. The Calix plug didn't have a cover but luckily i found a spare at the local Motonet for 10€. But what a pain it was to install the spring to get it stay shut properly! I was about to e-mail the manufacturer but finally about after a hour of battle (and searching the bay for the tiny spring time and time again as it popped out of my fingers!) managed to get it right. A small hole in the lower bumper mesh and a couple of cable ties later i was all set. I didn't bother much with hiding it any better since it sits enough inside the bumper that it's pretty much un-noticeable unless you squat down right in front of the car... or raise the car up like in upper picture. A small but very useful mod... atleast if you live as far north as i do! It was down to -18 celsius yesterday so these babies can be pretty useful!
  4. Congrats man, well deserved. Great stance, well chosen & unique mods... a worthy winner.
  5. Nice one, a propwr suspension is what makes a drive a drive, not just a travel from a to b.
  6. I'm sure it will look good in silver no matter what, since it'll fit in with the rest. The real question is will it look BETTER in red... SO i've come to the conclusion, for christmas's sake , of painting it red, then if it's too much, i'll just paint it again in silver! It's such as easy part to remove it'll be easy to rectify in necessary. Thanks for your opinions and have a vtec christmas!
  7. Hmm only one's for silver but on the other he most probably will be coty winner this year... so should i go with the public opinion or follow @Chandler's wise ways!!? I think i'll digest this over christmas and then make my decision.
  8. Brake stopper is going in next. The part wasn't a 100% fit but pretty close... had to do a tad bit of grinding do get it to fit spot on. Also sanded it down a bit to get ready for a new coat of paint, too bad Tegiwa makes it only in blue which is a color i really don't want in the bay. So i made a little photoshop exercise to try to decide which way to go, racing red or subtle silver. Here's the original: ...and red: ...and silver: What do you think? I think the silver fits in with the rest really well, but maybe i want my race parts to stand out? Also gonna paint the rocker cover red soon so maybe a red stopper would compliment it... or maybe it would be too much??? Maybe you help me out a bit, whaddaya think? Too hard!
  9. Good work, now you just need new wheels so people can properly see your shiny new race-look brake setup
  10. Speaking of brakes i finally found the time to do the rears yesterday, grooved discs and ferodo pads same as front. The discs came off with a single hit of the mallet, quite a different scenario than with the fronts! Spent most of the time cleaning and sanding parts but everything is working super smooth now... almost like new . Also replaced the faulty right rear abs sensor, took some time with the rusty bolts but in the end was a doddle to do. The unstable weather here has dropped below zero for a change so non-locking brakes are definitely a plus... especially yesterday when bedding in the new pads on icy roads! Did an oilchange as well, poured in some Castrol Magnatec and replaced the filter with a Hamp from Tegiwa. Installed a new minimod in the form of a Password: JDM magnetic oil drain plug. Well it's probably not genuine (china ebay!!!) but atleast it's magnetic. For now! The engine has been trickling oil since i've had her, never bothered me too much since it's a very small amount over time but decided to tighten up the oil pan bolts and was surprised how many of them were pretty loose... hope that helps a bit. I've got a 18 day holiday now so plenty of time to work on the deck! Lots of little stuff planned... and a couple of bigger things on the shopping list. I'll keep you posted.
  11. Ooh lovely. Love 300's, so bored of 200's everybody seems to have these days.
  12. Did you fit new or second hand coilovers? Could be a busted shock.
  13. Here are ebay links with the official honda part code: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X37750-PH2-014.TRS0&_nkw=37750-PH2-014&_sacat=0
  14. I bought one just at a local car parts store. I'm not sure what the official name for it is but Hayne's calls it a coolant temperature gauge sender unit.
  15. First it might be worth it to replace your temp gauge sensor. Costs next to nothing and takes about 5min to do. A lot easier than changing the thermos... which i did twice before checking out the sensor, which solved my problem a few years back!
  16. Fits your interior perfectly... well done, man. Not sure about the long shift shaft, though!
  17. You got my vote, Grant, well deserved car of the month.
