  1. Brill topic! Well, spookily similar to you, but my best is my deck (the spirit lives on...), and my worst was a J reg 1.6 cavalier.... Looked pretty much like this... A £300 death trap of a car that I bought after killing my eg with a signpost, and did 350 miles a week in until the MOT tester condemned it. I'll take a photo of the fail sheet tomorrow
  2. It is a possibility to be fair... Especially because when I was struggling to unplug the one off the old car I ended up cutting the cable off on the other side of the connector from the sensor... Meaning I wouldn't be able to use the loom of the old shell, so therefore it's bound to be what's wrong... Sod's law and all that.
  3. When the garage first called about it, I said "oh, it'll probably just need resetting, the light always comes on, you just need to bridge some pins on the connector on the centre console, not the ecu one... I'll send you some info" Then checked the how to, are realised that I was thinking about the SRS one, and phoned them back to eat humble pie...
  4. Good shout - I was wondering about that but thought that I was getting confused with the SRS light.
  5. So garage had a road test which went okay. Need 4 wheel alignment with the new rear camber bits and all the suspension shenanigans. Also, dreaded abs light, so that needs sorting before MOT. Went rooting around under tubs to take off the one from there and dropped it off on Saturday, but they fitted it yesterday, and the light was still on. They were going to get it plugged into a reader to pull the code to double check. Looks like I'll need a new one though. I did find the Japan parts ones at micksgarage.com, but they don't seem to list the ones for the rear right. There's one for every other wheel, and then one which is just listed for the rear axle, and doesn't come with the brackets fitted. https://www.micksgarage.com/d/abs-sensors/honda/honda-civic/civic-vi-estate-1998-to-2001/1-8-16v-mc2-169-1797/products I was wondering if it's the same for both sides, but just the brackets are different? In which case it should be OK, and will just need the brackets swapping. I've actually got spares for both front side and the rear left in the garage as well
  6. That would be interesting - the k20 in the wife's old accord tourer was good, but just felt lacking for that big beast (especially when full of camping gear and roof box), would be much better suited to this though.
  7. Yeah.. It just worked and was simple as you needed it to be. I'd love to see how quick Windows 98 or NT would be on a modern pc.
  8. Any sneaky pics of the track rat yet? Sounds like a well cool way to spend some time with your lad.
  9. Ubuntu is fine until you need to do something other than just use it... Then it gets into the spending two hours researching on the Internet and pasting stuff into the terminal. It's faster than Windows though. Was using an old xp laptop a couple of days ago and that was super fast. It's a shame that xp hit the end of the road, as it was the best Windows ever.
  10. Good skills sir. I have an old laptop that used to be my work one years ago (on my second new one since then). It came with vista, but we were still on xp at work..... I'd been using Ubuntu on it instead of Windows for a while, which was much faster, but then I put an ssd in it and boosted the ram. Like you say, the ssd on the system drive makes it fly on boot. Most impressive on my Ubuntu one is shutdown.. It takes seconds I keep trying to get Karen to get an ssd in her mac that she uses for work.
  11. Cheers, still with grant's old reg. Yeah, and means I can go for a private reg in the future if I want to.
  12. Totally over the moon that they reversed the decision. They had made it so that both of the original registrations were void, and issued a new vin. I was going to have to get the old vin obliterated, get a new one stamped on to the chassis, get a new vin plate fitted, then apply for a VSA inspection which could take a month to get sorted, and then register it with the DVLA when they'd issue a Q plate.
  13. They just called back, he found the other records and that it had already been re registered on the r plate, so that will stand... Panic over
  14. Not happy Just got a letter from the DVLA saying that the car has to have a Q plate on. This is after they told me that it didn't need one, but that I couldn't keep the tubs reg, and then sent me out a new V5. So now I've got to go through the faff of getting a new VIN number stamped on, and have a feckin Q plate that I can't change or get a private reg!
  15. Yeah, don't fancy having to leave it in - some knacker would be bound to try and have it away. Plan is to have that sitting on the section where the clock etc is, but extended out to be the width of the centre bit, and then have a lid that tapers downwards back to the inner side of the vents. That's the plan, but I'm kind of going from memory until I get the car to sit in and work it out. Will have a usb cable coming out with a 90° connector on, and the cable will connect on the open side.
  16. Trying to work out sizes and where I need holes etc. Want to be able to slide it in and out the side. This will be the hub of the set up, and will extend out and back so that it fits in shape wise.

    Prices

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of folk in the market for decent ones, and happy to spend on them as well. Maybe civic M's make more sense now in the world of bigger cars! They were just ahead of their time Heck, just look at the platform honda picked for the new type r... Almost m sized lol

Just browsing - as you do - and noticed this.. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202101178067087?atmobcid=soc3 Given that as the advert says it's not in the best nick, and missing most of the interior, is £2.5k OTT, or is this just another sign that vtis are heading up in price?
  19. Aye, looks good. Is there a headunit at the bottom?
  20. That would be good. I'm still planning on fannying around with those buttons for the hazard and heated window switches as well. Is that pic a tablet install or a touchscreen double din?
  21. I remember having a good peer at mikefoto's double din, and it looked like you could see the join like there was a bit of a gap, but as you say, filling with resin and sanding should sort that out a treat - are you going to paint the whole thing? So will there be another joint where you are going to cut a section out further down? Good work so far though - even though you tried to chop off a finger.
  22. There's a post on our Facebook group of someone who has bent their rear cross member https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3823825667640360&id=100000388922702&set=gm.834645877317422&source=48&ref=group_browse Now I know from looking into it when I found that the one on tubs was rusted to hell, that honda do list the part as being separate from the rear floor - but if course it's not available anymore. Part number is 17500ST3E31 The workshop manual has some info for replacing sub frame parts, but it's far from a simple bolt on activity. If you could get a good scrap one, then a good body shop /restoration place might be able to sort it using the alignment info from the honda manual.
  23. Aye, I've used it in a couple of hire cars as well - it's pretty cool. One of the things that swung it was that the sat nav app I use works on it now.
