  1. What about swapping the mini for a cheep run around that you can just run into the ground without it worrying you? I used to do 80 miles a day, and after having an incident which killed my EG, I went through a series of cars for a couple of hundred quid. Cavelier, 309, carina. then got tubs.
  2. So long as DD is staying Why is Mindy just for fair weather? Is there anything that could be done to make her more winter proof?
  3. Yup. I really miss driving the ol'girl. I like Karen's accord, but it's just not the same.
  4. Yep, if I can wind the clock back on her a bit I'm comfortable with that. I always regret that my EG ended up having scrapped, and don't want to end up having the same regret with tubs. And you're right about new cars... I've had loads of hire cars through work this year, and haven't really enjoyed any of them. No soul.
  5. It's my ball and I'm taking it home
  6. Finally got a date for the welding... 23rd October... Looks like a couple of weeks work Then it's back to fuel fixing, service, brake caliper refurbish, disks n pads, and back on the road, then to the body shop. Taking so long to get my baby sorted, and probably going to end up costing around what I paid for her 13 years ago
  7. I must admit, that had me bamboozled in the early days
  8. Check out this how to... Especially the part about giving the hoses a squeeze. Check that both the top hose and bottom hose are both getting warm, if not there might be an air lock so giving them a squeeze can help To be honest, I've just done this from point 7 onwards and it's sorted it. 7 years ago... Jeez...
  9. Can't remember if I saw this here in the first place, but just came across it in my favourites on my phone and thought I'd share it coz it's pretty cool https://www.motor1.com/news/268425/honda-civic-history-slideshow/
  10. Yep, and be without the old girl for longer Will make things more tricky then I am... I keep questioning whether it's worth it, but to be honest I can't be bothered with starting the journey on another car, as tubs was pretty much set up how I like it, and there's been too many folk on here over the years who've moved on from an M and regretted it afterwards. I've already got the parts I need to sort her out, just need to get the work done. It's turning into more of a restoration now though than a repair.
  11. Also, a bolt sheared when he was trying to drop the sub frame to fit the fuel line. Does anyone know if the nuts for the bolts are captive?
  12. This is getting more complicated, looks like it's going to be welding before fuel tank and pipes due to the fact that the tank will have to come back out for the welding anyway.
  13. That's going to sound lively! Think that a wee video would be in order
  14. The guy who works on my car used to work at honda, and his mate has a body shop, but he used to work at honda as well. He was telling me once that the m's had a recall because they didn't have enough rust protection in them. Apparently they pumped loads of waxoil into the rear arches. Maybe MG didn't make the same mistake.
  15. Hope so, it's been a struggle to try and get things organised for getting it off the drive. Still need to get the welding arranged, and it's mot time in a few weeks.
  16. I was even looking at MG doors at one stage - stupid prices of those on ebay though
  17. That is a shame about the door.. Will it make painting it easier than another random colour? Good to have found a clean one though
  18. Aye, both driver side doors are, but I've got a couple of clean replacements.
  19. Good stuff. Tidy job on the bracket. You can almost smell that snow foam.
