Custom springs! Interesting.

Wow, I bet that wasn't much fun at that speed! Was it on the way there or back (or do the photos answer the question?

Hi Martin, good to see a new deck joining the club. Not many VTI aerodecks, and that one sounds like it's had plenty of love from honda. Will be interested to see where you take it next.

bud.. Lovely mb there. The red rocker cover looks nice and fresh.

Cheers, the invoice says that it's purple candy. don't know if that's an official name though.

Thinking about it, I wonder if it'd previously had been drilled to punch the slider out?

No idea... Only one of them is like that. The guy pointed it out that it was odd. He's added some sealer in there, but no idea why that one's different.

Really happy with the work to be honest, and how he's made sure that everything's done right. He showed me what came out of where the handbrake bearings should have been and it looks like there's just been some sort of mastic out filler squirted in to hold the shaft in place. Got some new handbrake cables, and some braided lines as well, so hoping that the brakes will be better than they have been since I've had her.

Also picked up the petrol tank from the powder coater today as well. Don't want to have to replace that again again.

I've just had those windows resealed on my deck, not sure if it's sorted my leak though... Hope so as I've just had all the rust cut out and welded.
-
Arrived yesterday, dropped them off last night, and after some mild grinding of the caliper to clean up the chamber, it fitted like a glove Massive props to @shebabby for pointing me in the right direction on ebay. For anyone else in Internet land who needs needle roller bearings with a hole for honda brake caliper handbrake mechanisms, you need 7E-HKS BA1012 Needle Roller Bearing with Hole 15.875x20.638x19.05mm I got mine from the seller named cardiff-deals https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202541737100

Cool. I'm getting them blinged up a bit at the same time, and this fella is doing the whole thing on all 4 for about £100-120 depending on how much the kits cost him

Bit of info though... Found out this week that Brembo do refurbed standard calipers for our civics.... Prices about normal.
-
Well, it seems that the bearings might not always be replaced with bearings when refurbished... Think that a plastic sleeve might be a common thing. Could be why I've had umpteen rear calipers over the years. I'm hopeful about these bearings though.
-
Yeah, problem is that I don't have the calipers at the moment, and the bearings had been removed in the past. I've gave it a shot in the spirit of discovery, so will see if they're right... Fingers crossed.

Just noticed that same thread says that mazda use them in the miata brakes too @Dave
-
Positive sign is I've just came across a thread via a picture on Google pics, which references the same sizes for brake calipers on a Nissan 300z https://z31performance.com/forum/z31-repairs-forums/engine-mechanical/8685-rear-caliper-e-brake-bearing-fixed-updated-pics
-
Yeah, that's a good idea as well. I'd rather get them done properly so I don't have to keep changing calipers every couple of years.
-
Welcome back by the way
-
Good find bud... I had a good look for something like that in Google, but had no joy.
-
So I'm getting my calipers refurbished by a local chap who normally does Jag brakes. He's hit a bit of a brick wall with the rears, as it seems that whoever reconditioned them last used some sort of plastic sleeve instead of the needle bearings for the handbrake mechanism, which has now disintegrated (probably due to the heat of a siezed handbrake.....). Now, honda don't seem to sell (or even list a part number) for the needle roller bearings, and trawling through the Internet seems to confirm this. What I'm trying to find out is what is used when calipers are remanufactured - any chance that anyone knows? I've seen on a forum in America that someone found a brass sleeve in their remanufactured ones for a teg. Obviously why they don't tend to last as long as the original ones.

Hi mate, vti looks nice and clean

Cool. I bet that's loads of fun
