  1. sooooo, the MOT didn't go entirely to plan! Garage failed her on the track rod end (so least I know what the noise was now and was expecting that anyways) but the bastids also failed on what they classed as a major fault! Effing exhaust heat shield???? They even put "dangerous, do not drive. Risk of fire!" on the mot. Apparently its the one round the fuel tank.....only its still there! There looks to be probably about 4 inches of shield that has rusted away if anything, but it has probably been like that for years.Didnt even get as much as an advisory before so was pretty pissed off with the tester tbh. Also failed on binding front caliper n/s/f and handbrake didn't meet requirements. Then there was the advisories.........brake discs worn pitted or scored! The rears are brand bloody new, and the fronts are in decent shape! Honestly went apeshit at the garage as they wouldn't even entertain fixing anything they'd failed it on! Took her straight to another wee independant garage to see if they could book her in, and the guy (who was into his cars) looked at the fail slip and laughed. Said they wouldn't have failed it on the heat shield, and as for the discs, he agreed there was nothing wrong with them. So she's been sitting in the garage since November as I was so pee'd off with it all. It wasn't a huge list of fails, just some of the things they'd failed/advised on thats now stuck on her mot history forever. Anyhoo, decided I need to get my finger out and do something about it. So, brand new caliper on the front along with new pads. Handbrake I thought was just a quick adjust (uh-uh, wrong!). The handbrake cable where the adjuster is at the handbrake was squint, drivers side all pulled up and pass side hardly any. So siezed rear caliper then. Turned out, the garage I had used to fit the rear discs when I couldnt get the caliper/carrier braacket bolts out had reused the same chewed up bolts. Again, effing raging, because when I finally got them out, the sliders were seized solid as they'd fired it all back together without even any grease on the sliders! Effing cowboys! So new slider kit and replaced the bolts with new, job done. Then got a bit of heatshield that I had lying about and cut it to shape size and fitted it. I then drilled new holes to attach the n/s/r abs sensor cable back onto the car as I'd put it on temp with cable ties while I serched for the previous abs fault. So thats ll looking nice and secure now. Just need to book her into another garage for an mot now and get them to do the track rod end. Would do it this week but I've had a slight accident in the garage! Faith had an accident with her new (to her) 2015 Toyota Aygo, so Ive got to replace the front bumper, o/s/f wing, o/s/f headlight, fog light, drl etc. Started on it last night and got the mangled wing off, then was at the workbench showing Faith (she was helping me) how to get a stuck bolt out of a socket. Turned to her to get the bolt, and she screamed! What I didnt see was the bloody vice falling off the workbench! And landed right on my foot!!! Still in agony, toes are swollen to around twice their normal size, masive bruising etc. gayle thinks Its probably broken my toes but I aint going to sit in A+E for 6 hours to be told they cant do anything. So painkillers it is until it heals. Out of action for working on cars/driving for now.
  2. Although the B series ws fun in my VTI, I've always found the D series is more refined/smooth in comparison. Just my own personal view of the D series having owned the D14, D16 and the B18. Fair play to you mate, looking forward to seeing this one progress.

I'll have a look mate see if it's in the list of waiting member that need admin approval. Did you get any message saying it was declined or anything?
  4. Check our diwnlaodable service manual mate, figures should be in there.

Nice work mate, deffo looking at wrapping the Mini but need to sort the lacquer peel first. Some of the vinyls available look stunning, really glossy!
  8. I'm dreading doing the rear trailing arm bushes on DD at some point! Top work mate, love this project!

Almost looks like it's got a pirates black tint to it in the photos? Or is it gunmetal/black? Tidy wee bus that.
  10. I got one made up for DD at Japfest car show. Not got any pics of her with it on though! It is now mounted above my workbench in the garage, I'll see if I can find a pic of it
  11. @Thirsty I don't think the coupe/sedan one will be a direct fit, will need modified to fit (depends on where the bends in the pipe are and also if the flange where it meets the cat is the correct way round although that can easily be cut off and refitted easily enough). Standard exhaust prices seem to have gone right up lately for some reason, so might be time to go for a cat back stainless system. Bit more expensive but you won't have to replace it again. Have had my custom built powerflow system for around 12 years now, still in great condition and never had a single issue with it. Worth the extra if you're keeping the car for a while
  12. Not 100% sure if the seal kits are available for these mate, but our service manual in the downloads section should give a better view of what's needed.

Agree, that looks stunning mate, really sweet MB.
  14. Yup, can confirm MA/MB/MC all the same. For best fitment (and quality) I'd deffo recommend the Climair ones. Have had both and the rear ones are a much nicer fit.
  15. I think they are interchangeable, the only differences are obviously the ones with eco light, then the automati ons that show what gear its in, and the B18's had different set up again with the rev counter. Pretty sure all can be changed though.
  16. @Swillow777Hi Mate, can be various different things that cause this. Are you getting the EML coming on when it happens? Sounds like it could be a sensor or wiring breaking down when it gets up to temp. Might be the o2 sensor/EGR valve? Does the engine feel like it's misfiring when it does it? If yes, then could be a simple as a spark plug or HT lead breaking down. Never seen a 1.4 Aerodeck before so quite rare! Get some photos of it up mate, we all pics of the Civic M's here
  17. @quinnamb3 As Simon says, the Honda ones will be hard to find new now but the 1995-2001 Rover 400/45 should still be available and will be a direct fit. The MGZS ones won't be there though as they never had manual windows, only electric. For converting to electric, yes it can be done. Easiest way would be to find two replacement front door that already have them,as fitting would be a tricky job. I'm doubtful the wiring will be in place though so you would also need the wiring harness from the fusebox to the doors too. Might be worthwhile checking the fuse box to see if it has the fuse slots for the electric windows as not sure if the fuse box will maybe also be different. There might also be relays to add to the fusebox to for the electric windows.Nothing is impossible though! Really nice MB3 you've got there, looks tidy!
  18. lol Fingers still crossed and jury still out on the ABS fault 😀 Abs sensor wires all tied up tidy and she's now off the axle stands and back on her feet! Was gonna test last night but battery is flat! Have had it on charge overnight so will test today!. Just gonna get her on the car ramps outside now and get the gunk out to clean her up underneath at the front/engine bay. Oh, and need to get a set of new front wipers as those are shot. But think that's her ready bar the obligatory wash and wax!
  19. Yup, deffo the sensor for the remote key fob.
  20. Wow! She looks mint mate! A friend of mine back in the mid 90's had one this colour same time I had my blue MA8. He'd put wolfrace wheels etc on it and looked stunning. Alway liked that colour of green on them, the later MB's had a different (bhakl green) green but I always prefered the early MA greens.
  21. Update time again! Ok, got the rust treatment all completed on the passenger side rear, all painted with red oxide then on with the underseal. Did the suspension parts too, all rust treated and painted with red oxide then the satin black paint. Looking really nice! Just got the new abs sensor wire to fix in place and she's ready to get the wheels back on. The rear mudflap and plastic inner arch are all bolted back in place now since the photo was taken. On the ABS, I think I've finally cured it! In the engine bay pass side theres a little black box for ABS that has a satndard fuse and a weird square one in it. Took out the blade fuse and noticed it was covered in grease, including the socket it goes into. Probably done to stop terminals corroding? I wasn't sure grease would be a conductor of electricity so got a replacement fuse and then cleaned out the fuse socket with cotton buds/wd40. Fitted fuse and light has been behaving ever since! So, bit the bullet and got her booked in for MOT a week on Monday coming. Gives me time to get the engine bay cleaned up (it's not bad actually but like her looking her best) then get her washed, clayed, mopped and waxed so she looks top banana! Know theres still a knock at the front but will get them to investigate it/replace what needs replaced at the MOT. Just looking forward to her being on the road again!
  22. LOL christ, my cars stay clean for less than a day up here just now, roads are constantly wet, dirty (from all the tractors) and mashed up leaves. DD will be getting an uber wash next week as booked in for her MOT a week on Monday! Yay!!
  23. Ahh man, sorry it didn't work out with the Crown mate. Truely nice car but like you say, expensive in every way. Had a feeling you would get pangs about the mb6 mate. the amount of time, work and money you poured into it, plus how long you had it, was always gonna be a tinge of regret selling her. Know I felt physically sick after |I sold Ruby the first time, even more so when I saw what the muppet that bought her was doing to her! Wasn't as bad the 2nd time I sold her although still miss her even now. Glad you're back in a Honda though! I have mixed feelings over the FN2's but mostly good feelings! I love the styling more than I think any car I've owned (except my Mk3 Cortina's though!), just think they look so cool from any angle! Also best interior I've had by far! Only things I didn't like about the TypeR FN2 were the fuel consumption and the ride. Just far too stiff for me! Power was nice though but deffo was gonna loose my license if I'd kept Roxy! If I'm honest, think I prefered my FN1 typeS, as a daily anyways. But loved them both, just something about the FN Civics. Even now I'm still looking at them on autotrader! Deffo get a new project thread going for the Fn mate, would love to see where you go with it!
