  1. No, but it's got spam buster! ok, you're history! Next!
  2. Ok guys, further progress! We are at this minute in the middle of installing the new forum on the server. It's more complicated as I also purchased a few add-ons aswell, which will make the forum a whole new experience and bring civic5 right bang up to date. Nice new features for you guys!! I'll keep you posted on the progress
  3. Nice one mate! Always good to hear comments (good or bad) about any changes we make to the site.
  4. Will do, thanks chaps. We may need our VIP'ers to help during the changeover by us contacting you with developments, then maybe you could relay this on our facebook group? Just an idea.
  5. Yeah, long term that would be excellent! The new forum will be like a new chapter in the club. Onward and upward!
  6. I've been looking for ways to improve things for Civic5.com, and to make it better for the future. As you know, from it's humble beginnings it's grew into a very busy forum, and we need to make sure it can handle the demands that may be put on it as we grow even bigger. So, for a while now I've been looking at different platforms to what it's (the forum) currently built on, PhpBb3. To be honest, phpbb has been perfect for our needs for the last few years, and I've become quite competant at editing the various php files to customize the forum to our requirements. I've also become reasonably good at being able to repair things when they break! But, for the last 6 months or so, with me being away from the site, it's thrown up a few problems with regards to how the site can be run without me. Things like the memberships keep having to be put on hold, as I'm the only one who can do the funds for it etc. And then theres the website side of things. Without web design knowlege, and the programs/server access things like car of the month have been a bit b****r by the fact it needs me to edit the home page with the latest winner! So we needed something that can handle all these things, and one that lets the admins have the access they need. I talked about I.P. board and also Vbulletin, both of which have to be purchased as they arent free software. Having experimented with both, I've finally went ahead and bought I.P. board. I've also bought a few add on applications aswell... I.P. Board + Core suite (they are the basic requirements that must be bought) I.P. Gallery (which will mean we can have things like members albums etc) I.P. Content (this will enable the admins to edit content on the webpages, which will have to be all completely rebuilt around the new platform. But once built it will be simple for any admins to add photos/content to them) I.P. Nexus. This is an eCommerce solution add-on, which could possibly be used for the for sale sections, but more importantly, will be used for memberships. This will make membership fully automated! When membership is purchased, the users account is automatically upgraded. When membership runs out, the account changes back to standard. I.P. Calendar. This will be cool for arranging meets/events etc. The whole package has set me back $310.25 (around two hundred odd quid) There's also a license 6 month renewal (currently $85) And there's a lot to do before we can install it all, as our current forum database needs to be converted from PHP to IP, a massive job in itself. I'll be working with both IP and our server host to try and get this done as smoothly as possible, but it will obviously mean we may be offline for a few days. The forum will run just a standard theme until I get time to create a civic5 one, but that's the least of our worries! lol I'm going to try and back up everything we have, then see if the server host can send me a download of it, both our SQL database and the files from the FTP side of things. Least that way if it does go tits up, I should be able to recover us back to here! I hope! Once it's all installed, and any errors are ironed out, I'll be looking at getting us upgraded onto the new super dooper server. Again, another big (and costly) job, but one I want to do to ensure that civic5 continues into the future. I also want to do it so that should anything happen to me, then the site can be taken over by someone else (that's already been sorted out who will take ownership of civic5 should anything happen to me.....queue Dave and Sarah!) and run easily. This is a major step for the club, and I'm happy to invest in it's future. Its a honda car club/honda forum like no other. The sense of community in here is almost family like, so it's worth making sure it's always going to be here. Even after I'm gone! It's what Dawn would want for sure, as she was as proud of Civic5 as I am, so it's a wee legacy!

  11. lmao........I think thats funny as hell when he points that crooked wee finger and goes "youre fired!" . You'd think he would straighten it when trying to be authorotive! lmao
  12. This looks tops mate, really sweet looking MB! The drop is bang on the money, the wheels suit it so well. Did you say the colour is atlantic blue? Looks very similar to Orleans blue, might be worth checking the colour code in the door jamb Loving the mods on this, and your old vtis looked mint!
  13. correct! yeah, will be going for only a small drop in height, more for asthetics. she should look good!
  14. lol Ta mate. I actually have a sore finger due to Ruby yesterday. Fitting the new stereo, she spat the cigar lighter right out onto the centre console! I must have accidentaly pushed it in when fitting the radio. Didnt realise it was hot, so picked it up and my finger went right in the hot bit!!! Was bloody painful, and even running it under the tap I could smell the smell of burnt flesh! Not too bad today, and now got no finger print! lol
  15. Exactly. Will soon have her looking tickety Boo! Been speaking to Jerrick at MeisterR to confirm a few things, so will be getting them ordered pretty soon
  16. Membership should be starting in July folks
  17. yeah mate, you defo need to keep tubs! Dawn loved your deck, so theres another reason to keep it! plus its mint! lol yup, and my drives back to looking how it should too!
  18. lol, good point, i'll get that updated!!! your becca was a stunning one mate, id have bought her!
  19. yeah, the sound is brilliant mate! Unfortunately, during tiding up, I must have pressed the cigar lighter in, and when it was ready it shot out of the lighter socket and landed on the gear surround. I was like " wtf was that???" Spotted the lighter, went to pick it up, and my finger went right in the hot bit!!! One hell of a nasty burn on the finger tip of my index finger. Bloody hurting like hell now!! Plus side is, I now have no finger print on that finger! So can do illegal stuff and almost leave no finger prints! haha! System looks good though, and being Pioneer, keeps the OEM goodness!
  20. So, been busy today! managed to sort out her wiring, so it's now safe and back as it should be. Still going to get the connector changed and got one on the way. So with the offending stereo out, it was time to fill that space! Had to go to halfords to get a new iso harness, as the old one was deemed beyond repair, and while i was in had a wee look at the stereos! wasn't looking for a new one as i had the pioneer mp3 one sitting waiting to go in, but well, you know what it's like! lol boys and their toys! lmao ended up buying a new pioneer, with usb, DAB radio, cd/mp3 player and tidy display (can customize the colour) so got it all nicely fitted, and sounds and looks sweet! heres the pics! old unit with no name (now residing in the wheely bin!) and the new pioneer......luverly!
  21. lol Yup, pity it was covered in dirt by the time we got home yesterday lmao. Just been out washing her and getting her back to her former clean self! Well chuffed with the bumper though, looks superb!
  22. Well, as you all know I couldn't live without Ruby, and regretted the sale since day one. So, I bought her back. Took a bit of persuading, but her current owner gave in in the end. So sitting behind the wheel, it felt like coming home! Was so nice to be back in her, and could picture dawn sitting there with a big grin when I hit Vtec. Thats where the first problem raised it's head! Under acceleration, it pulled hard to the left. Back off the loud pedal, it went back to the right. Was like WTF????? so got her home, and started checking the front suspension. Turns out the n/s/f tyre had been changed, and the one fitted was barely legal, with a small cut in the side wall too. I changed the wheel, and instantly, the pulling was gone. I asked him about this (her other owner) and he said that one of the goodyears I had fitted just before the sale had developed a bulge? So he'd got that fitted instead. Bit strange to say the least, but hey ho, on we go. I took her out for a spin, and noticed that on bumpy roads (cobbles etc) she sounds like every single bit of trim is hanging off in the boot. Really sounds shocking, like you're sitting in biscuit tin with some plastic bits rattling around. So that needs looking into. Was always nice and quiet before, even on the bumpiest roads. So had a look at rear suspension, as Mike told me he'd fitted new stuff (MGZS arb and Changed the shocks/springs) so wanted to see how it had been fitted. Spotted the MGZS arb, but wrapped with black insulation tape! Looks bloody awful! So need to take that off and get it properly powder coated before refitting. Then I noticed, the suspension is all the same as before????? Standard Ruby suspension. Bit miffed, as he said " you'll notice a big difference in the handling now!" Yeah, on first drive it pulled all over the place on an illegal tyre, then find out all thats been done is the arb??? I wouldnt have even trusted it in a straight line, let alone canning it into bends! So going to get the whole suspension off her, as I don't trust it. Not sure what's been done and what hasn't. Also noticed on the wee drive over to Pauls last night, the new stereo, which was switched off, kept coming on then going off again! This was going to be one of my first jobs, changing this! It's some wierd dvd player type thing, with no manufacturers name anywhere on it! Looks cheap as hell, and is also annoying to operate. He told me the Alpine head unit kept cutting out, again can't say owt because maybe it did with him. Just know it worked perfect for me even on the day I sold her. And it was a quality bit of kit too, so wish he'd just left it in there. So, today I go to remove the dvd unit, as I'm worried it could cause a fire. Pulls it out, and oh yes, my pet hate! Rubys radio harness has been butchered to fuck! I hate when fucking retards do this! Why do it??? she had the honda to iso connector harness fitted, all they had to do was fit the radio! One side of the original harness has had the plug completely cut off, and is wired all to feck. the other one, which has the most wires on it, has had a few wires cut and bodged onto the other side. End result, no power to the Pioneer unit I'm fitting back in! Looking at the wiring, I have no idea what the hells been done, or why. No wonder the dvd unit was going on and off itself! So been in touch with 1000rpm in the forum to see if he can get a new harness up to me. So fucking annoyed to find this! If people don't know how to do jobs on a car, leave it the fuck alone and get someone who does. Not a happy bunny! Knew I should never have sold her in the first place! She deffo aint been getting looked after! Kinda guessed that by the posts between her owner and his mates, always arguing the toss over who was the fastest. So plans are, Stage 1: get her wiring sorted, get a set of Meister R suspension on her and replace all bushes, replace two front tyres with new GoodYears, get wheels changed back to white and sort out the rattles etc coming from the rear (well, pretty much all over the interior! lol). Stage 2: Get the VTiS sideskirts I still have, plus her rear lip and front lip, all resprayed and refitted. Also going to change the front grill (has been sprayed black, not a bad job done but not to my taste tbh) Oh, and that unkown dvd player. Fecked it straight in the wheely bin!
  23. lol Persistance pays dividends! Lol I did keep on at him, day in day out!!
