There are deffo still good shells out there mate, although not all are vti's. Have seen quite a few needing weldin now, but there are still those that have never been welded and don't need any. If you can find one with a duff engine (hard as we all know they are pretty bullet proof) or even one where panels like wings/doors/bonnet/hatch are rough so being sold cheap would be the ideal base. Must be one out there somewhere. In an ideal world, if you could find another pirates black shell, then you could break Tubs (much as In hate saying that) and then try and keep her reg as a private plate? Not sure how that works but would be nice to dave the reg and put it on your new one?

Much as I hate EV's I'm all for hybrids and think hybrids ARE the way forward. Would even consider this for DD, but at that price and needing one for each rear wheel, the price would by far outweigh it being economically viable.Plus you need sva to re-class the vehicle, lots of hoops and red tape to jump through I think.

words toitally escape me mate, absolutely gutted to see Tubs looking like that. ou need to sue the arse out of that company, trading standards the lot need to be on this mate! I have seen lots of bodged work over the years but that is by far one of the worst. Considering what they charged you for a "restoration" they need shut down. I'd happily go down there and smack the welder and the owner of the place in the mouth as I'm disgusted what they done to your car. Please feel free to name and shame them on our FB page too mate, social media has a funny way of dishing our karma, and they are due a bucket load (make that a rusty bucket load) of karma for that. I know how much you love that car, and what she means to you. Jake makes a good point though about transplanting all the good stuff from her onto a good shell. Might be worth thinking about, although knowing how much you've put into her and your love for her know you'll probably stick to your guns and save Tubs. As also said, have seen loads of cars on Car suasage that were way worse than Tubs being saved, although it all depends on cost I suppose. Cars they were saving were worth a lot of money restored, whereas our civics are still only worth £2 to 2.5K tops when mint, maybe 3k at a push. But if you've no intention of selling her anytime soon, then would still be worth saving. Think there's a lot of hours work in there though, undoing all the shite that that crap garage

Thats awesome news mate!! Tubs willbe making her return to the road soon by the sounds of it!! She can join DD (took her in for MOT even though we have the 6 mnth extension, as I wanted her done at my local garage before we move on friday). Needed handbrake adjusted (which I knew about but tools are all packed away again so got them to do it) advisory on the trailing arm bushes again (says theyre still good for at least another year, and again, I already knew about them) and a very small oil leak from sump. And thats it! shes passed and driving amazingly well. Not bad for an old 20yr old!

Welcome mate. Looking forward to seeing the mb6! I've owned the mb6 and the FN2 aswell, both mega fun cars to drive!
-
I take it she needs the welding done before she'll get the mot? Total pia mate but least if shes home she's safe. In these uncertain times a lot of businesses could go under, and if your car is on the premises when it happens, can mean it getting damaged/being difficult to get it back. Not saying the garage is going to go bust, but know i'd prefer her sitting on my drive safe and sound until things get back to some kind of normality

Voting is open folks!

Thanks Jake. The drive in Mindy lifts us both up, we come back, park in the drive and have big cheesy smiles on our faces. Deffo lifts the spirits mate

isn't it! We've never been fans of built up areas/cities, much prefer the wide open spaces. Where we're moving to, we have that right on our doorstep Thanks mate, appreciate that. Funeral went as well as can be expected under the lock down, felt very surreal. She deserved a much better send off than this but it's all we we're allowed to do. Least she's up there with my Dad now and having a ball! You'll love the roads down near our new house Ali, plenty fun to be had!

Went for shopping again, taking the scenic route and the perfect car for this glorious weather. Peaked 33 degrees here today, unusual for Scotland and at this time of year. Was so nice getting the sun and fresh air while driving De-stressed us both. Mums funeral tomorrow so Mindy has helped get us ready. Hope everyone enjoying the sun and playing safe

That's cheap for the end effect it gives! Bargain!

Nice job bud, deffo getting quicker at this eh! How much did it cost you to wrap it?

That looks amazing!

New tyres fitted today. Got kwik fit mobile to supply/fit the new tyres at home. Went for Goodyear Efficient grip 2 as have had these on Ruby and Roxy, and Mindy has them so thought time for DD to have them. Always loved the grip and low noise levels of these, especially in the wet. Size wise, went for 195/55 16. 15's are 55 profile, and the previous tyres were 45 profile, but should have been 50 with the 16's. Know the speedo will be slightly out going for 55's, but not bothered as the extra comfort and them filling the now huge arch gaps since going back to standard suspension will be worth it. Quite like the look to be honest also, got a pic of the jack the mobile fitters use. Airbag system which raises the car in about 2 secs! Nice bit of kit......have already seen them for sale so might invest in one for my new garage when its built. Already got a compressor so ready to go!

So, looking to get new tyres for DD. What width of tyres are folks running on your lowered/standard height Civic M's? Know the widest standard size (for VTi/VTiS) is 195, but just wondering if we can go wider without any issues? Thinking 205's should be ok on DD's 16" wheels as plenty of room in arches with her being back on standard suspension.

The trim clips come as a kit from Honda. Not sure if they are still available mate, most likely discontinued. I've got a trim kit in the garage in its original packaging so will have a look for a part number for you. Got it for the rear lip but some low life stole the lip from my rear garden!

Welcome to the club Keiran, Quite a few members on here have done the B18 conversion so plenty info available. One of the last ones done was Alex @Chandler for his aerodeck.Have a look at this page (although would recommend reading his whole project thread, stunning car!) ECU is P28 I think, although many go down the route of Hondata aftermarket ecu's for mapping etc. At the other end you we have even had extremes such as a K26 transplant into an MB2. See @DAVEMB2 "Trinity D" project thread Recently one of our members has done an H22 conversion. See @Alexmb4h22 project thread Deffo a lot to get inspired by there mate. Hope this helps. Hopefully a few of those members will be along to offer some info on everything that's required.

Finally got them finished! Was a f@#k up with the order for the lacquer so after 12 days it still hadn't arrived and I ordered more from some place else. Went a bit different when I fitted the alloys this time, swapped the Cades centre caps for the new Honda ones I bought for the winter rims...looks better I think? DD with her posh shoes back on (still need to get some nice shiney new nuts!) Soooooo glad to have these back on, hated her look on standard alloys/winter tyres.

Still time to enter folks! Lets see what cars you would like to see win!

Hate assholes who do that! Had the same done to my MINI, came back to find someone had reversed into it at speed and totally smashed the front end in......then promptly buggered off! Over a grands worth of damage and me left with no car for a week! Hope you get it fixed soon mate. I think you might struggle to find the MA style bumper/wing though, pretty hard to come by nowadays.

Hi Mate. Unfortunately we're still confined here with lock down, so very very fed up with it! Fuel wise, it's 95 octane that these were recommended to run on, but using 98 octane won't do any harm (might give marginal more performance, although emissions may be higher). Not sure how this new fuel that is being introduced here in the UK will affect them though (Named E10) which has a higher concentrate of Ethanol in it. This has been proven to react badly with the rubber gaskets/rubber fuel lines in older cars, but think ours might be ok. They have been using it in the USA for years and cars such as the mk1 MX5's seem to have been ok so as these are from the same era as our civics we hopefully should be fine. Weight wise, the Aerodeck weighs 1120 Kg / 2469 lbs (approx and depending on what engine fitted) Hope this helps Dave

Top work, looking forward to seeing what power she makes!
