  1. Can't remember if I saw this here in the first place, but just came across it in my favourites on my phone and thought I'd share it coz it's pretty cool https://www.motor1.com/news/268425/honda-civic-history-slideshow/
  2. Hi. Can any one help with engine code and hp etc Of a Aerodeck 1.6 1999 ? Thanks
  3. Hi, i've found a pair of those rare metal door sills for the MB, turns out the bloke is selling them for 30 euros. From what I remember, i've seen these go for 150 at minimum. Does anyone know the true value of these things?
  4. so what spoilers are you using and any one using spoiler off a different car thats not a civic ill start with my pic lol
  5. Random one. Anyone know if the handbrake (brake fault) light comes on at the same time as abs light? Reason I ask. I currently have abs disconnected and my handbrake light is on all the time. I have checked for faults in the fluid reservoir cap and handbrake switch. Both are fine. So wondering if I need to track down wiring fault or is it just because abs disconnected.
  6. Photos from our wee trip to Myreton Motor museum in Mindy our MX5. We decided on a nice run to Dunbar via the coast road, so taking in Longniddry, Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick then Dunbar. This is a tiny wee museum based in East Lothian just outside Aberlady. The building(s) are basically in the middle of nowhere, but it is sign posted well! Lots of classic cars in various states of repair, some wearing original patina, some restored or part restored. Also lots and lots of interesting stuff including a history on Jim Clark. Also motorbikes, memorobilia and anything car related. Great wee place and well worth a look. Entry is just £7 for adults so quite reasonable, and you can be in there as long as you like. Excuse the photos, just took them with my phone! Customized 1980's Fiat X/19. The paintwork on this is amazing, multicoloured metal flake! Old Citroen is in beautiful condition. As was this wee beauty! Only done 1800 miles if I remember rightly! Always been a sucker for old Fords! Love this, so cool! And this wee pair were in stunning condition! Amazing how small both of these are compared to their modern counterparts. My favourite Rolls Royce, the Silver Shadow (series 2 I think?) Mini Innocenti replica Jowett Bradford van. I knew Jowett made the Jupiter and Javellin, but never knew they made a van. Unusual and very nice condition. Sunbeam Rapier. I used to love the shape of these when I was little, my uncle had one in metallic turquoise. Was a stunning car back then! Got a thing for old Humbers like this too.........look so much like a 57 Chevy or 57 Plymouth Volvo 340, used to be such a common sight on our roads. This ones a nice 1 owner low miler. Then on to upstairs! Lots of memorabellia, bicycles, pedal cars, toys, petrol ration books and so much more! Bugatti pedal car!! Would have loved this when I was a kid! Although I did have a Mini pedal car which was really cool! And Mindy, sitting relaxing in the sun before the second part of our run.
  7. Can anyone recommend somewhere to have a roll Cage installed. I know a few people on here building track cars have had cages installed so where did you get it done and how much did it cost? I want it to be MSA and FIA approved so it can be used for racing. I have contacted Safety Devices for a quote and their FIA approved cage is coming in at 3k for supply and fitting which seems a bit steep to me. Any advice on places and how much it cost them would be much appreciated, especially from anyone in the motorsport community.
  8. So, as I've been ill recently (had a heart attack while working in the garage) I'm not allowed to work on my cars until I recover. Well, decided to build the suspension on the MX5 (aka Mindy), fit the brake discs and calipers, oh and respray the car! Not the real one of course! I was lucky to get two identical models of the MX5 for my Christmas (one from Gayle and the other from my eldest stepdaughter Jacklyn and her husband Marc) so decided to chill out and build one of them. Model is 1/24 scale by Tamiya Got some parts painted prior to building. Brake discs with red calipers, exhaust, shocks with red springs (slight deviation from the instructions but just my preference). Also did front and rear wishbones, front rear subframes and all other parts. Detailed the underbody tub, so exhaust, petrol tank , bottom of engine etc all done. Rear suspension etc all ready to build Front suspension all built and added to tub. Rear all built and ready to fit Interior painted and put together. Really proud of my wee wood look gear knob! Mixed various colours to try and get the right look! The body required sanding down with fine wet and dry as there were a lot of casting marks that I wasn't happy with. Decided to buy proper "Mazda Classic red" paint from Halfords (part of my ocd thingy!) Resprayed the body, but not too happy with the finish so that will be getting done again. Even though I used paint prep wipes, and a plastic primer, the paint seems to have reacted with the plastic so truned out pants (well, in my opinion anyways!) so deffo redoing that. Final pics are of the completed model. When I build the second one, I'm going to use a different glue too as the one I have is also crap, quite stringy. Anyway, totally enjoyed building this, really theraputic. Looking forward to the second one! Oh, I haven't put any of the number plate decals on as I'm making my own (which will be same as Mindys!)
  9. Hello. Nothing to do with me, but I've just seen this on ebay... Don't see them coming up very often nowadays. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233058908242
  10. Happy Christmas everyone! Hope it's been a good one
  11. Any one good at photo shop? Thinking a nice rover kingfisher green for my alloys I do like to be different
  12. Spotted this in St hellier today (we're on hols hete). Silver vti deck, vtis mid spoler and kit, looked really clean. Anyone from here?
  13. So, going for full MTEC brake change and fitting some HEL braided lines at the same time. Just gone to take the first front brake hose off. All gone smoothly, drained hose, all disconnected, removed the sliding metal clip for the top fixing where the hose connects to the brake line. AAAnnnndddd.......... What the chuff is still holding this onto the bracket? Ive unscrewed the brake line nut, removed clip on top, can't anything else that should come off or move, is it just the power of 20 years worth of corrosion holding it on? should it pull down through the little bracket? or it it part of the bracket?
  14. Hi has anyone got a set of rear caliper bracket and pins for the 260mm disc near the derby area thanks
  15. So, been a bit down lately due to pressures/hassles at work and been a grumpy old git to say the least. Gayle reckoned what i needed was another project! I've wanted a MK1 MX5 since the day they were launched (was at the car show in Glasgow SECC when they unveiled it) and when the cover came off and I saw this sweet little red sports car I fell in love! Said there and then I have to have one of these one day, but I was a teenager back then with empty pockets! Roll on 29 years later and now I'm older (still with empty pockets, least i am after buying her!) and finally I've got one!! Always wanted a mk1, but did put deposit down on a mk2 in a garage around 7 years ago. Sadly my then wife (Dawn) became seriously ill so we cancelled going down to test it/buy it and just forgot about getting an MX5. Lost Dawn to cancer 3 years later Original plan was to buy one that needed a full restoration, but as i don't possess any welding skills that plan changed. After a lot of good advice from members in here, we upped our budget and went to view a few more cars. Most were bodged repairs and nothing like described, until we found this one in Stirling, Scotland. She's red (obviously), 1.6 UK car with 90K on the clock. 10 months MOT. There isn't a service history book, but all the old mots are there and receipts for various work done. The chap selling her didn't want to let her go, but was under instruction from his wife to buy a more family friendly classic car! She has had the rear sills done before, drivers side is a tidy enough job and solid (just the black paint that's not right), passenger side is still solid but repair is showing signs of rust. Engine wise, she's great! Engine sounds sweet, and pulls well in every gear. Suspension wise, she needs an overhall. Interior is basic but (now) clean and tidy. Hood is shot, but Gayle went straight onto ebay and found a brand new hood that the seller has had lying around for a couple of years for £120! result! She bought it, then we had another road trip to Aberdeen to go collect it. Hood is mint and getting fitted this weekend! I have noticed when at speeds of 70mph upwards, she has a horrible vibration which is coming from the front. It shakes through the car, and if at lower speeds (60mph) we go over any bumps in road, it shakes up through the steering wheel which deffo isn't right. Unfortunately during the test drive there were no roads we could get her up to anything over 30 - 40mph so this only came to light on the way home. But hopefully the work i'm planning should resolve these issues. So Plans are: Fit the new hood Replace all 4 shocks and springs Replace upper/lower wishbones (they look ok, just grubby, but I want to replace all bushes so might aswell just change the whole lot.) Replace wheels/tyres with dished BBS rims Full service including timing belt/fan belt etc. New front and rear brakes (rears have just had brand new calipers fitted) Full custom interior retrim in either full leather or half leather/alcantara Full respray, looking to go for a nice metal flake red! Will also be taking it to BorderMX5 before the paint to have both rear sills repaired professionally/correctly. Think we should be able to get through the next mot with them but not chancing it any longer than that. Engine and engine bay fully detailed. Accessories, such as chrome/stainless steel boot rack, new stereo (just replaced the one that was there for a Pioneer that I had lying around in the garage). Will be a long term project, but want to fully replace as much as we can as we go along for brand new/renovated parts. End goal is to have one very mint mk1 MX5. After cleaning her interior up to my standards, Gayle said "oh look, the suns out!" Which roughly translated means "time for a run in Mindy with the top down!" lol Got some pics when we were out. Totally love this wee car! She's not perfect, but she's ours and makes me happy! First ever convertible I've ever owned, and loving it! Don't worry though, DD isn't going anywhere! Just taking a break from her for a wee while as she needs MOT'd and a new front caliper. Plan is when I get the spraying gear all sorted out to respray the mx5 , I'll be doing DD's front end at the same time. So all's good!
  16. Hi guys!!! My name is Oscar, I'm from Madrid (Spain) and I'm 33 years old. I'm a recently owner of an MB4 Honda Civic 1.6 ES Vtec. I have that machine since one week ago and I love it! Here I leave some pics of the car and it's future wheels
  17. Some of you on FB may have seen the wee video I created from the German f1 grand prix featuring one Seb Vettel! Decided to do a better one so here it is...................................Vettel fans got to another section now! lol
  18. Hi people I am removing my power steering on my vtis that I use for track days. The car never gets used on the road so I don't have to worry about parking it with heavy steering. I removed the belt to see how it felt and I don't find it to bad so next is to remove it completely. I was going to remove the rack to open it up and do the depower mod but though while it's off I might aswell put a different one on that is quicker lock to lock, as the turn in isn't that great so a shorter ratio rack that's been depowered would hopefully be a big improvement. There is lots of info out there but no one seems to know for sure and some info contradicts what others have said. So as this is the home of mb6 experts I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on what would be a good replacement rack that is a straight swap.
  19. So, was thinking today just how long Civic5 has been around (kept thinking it was around 7 years). April 2018 was Civic5's 10th birthday! Can't believe we've been online 10years now, quite an achievement for a one make/one model car forum and club! We've seen quite a lot of big Honda forums and other car forums disappear in that time so makes it even more special that as a small club we're still here! It's a testiment to the dedicated team we've had through the years (some gone, some still here) and to the current team we have now and the work and time they put into this club. It's also due to the excellent members we have here, which is more like an extended family than a car enthusiasts club. Obviously the forum isn't quite as busy as it was in its hey-day but the fact we're still going, still getting new members joining regularly and still getting people saying how useful and friendly they find our wee forum and club makes it feel special. So we hope you all wish Civic5 a very happy birthday!
