  1. Hi Jim. Is this a 1.5 sport, or a 1.4 or 1.6? If 1.4, it doesn't have vtec. When the starting issue arises, is it when the engine is stone cold, or after it's up to normal operating temp? It's hard to determine from the symptoms you've listed, but more than likely it's electrical (and possibly still something to do with the dizzy)
  2. Look up performancetek honda jazz..........guy up here who owns performancetek (Gerry Brady who did Dave and Sarah's K26 conversion on the MB2) did the first uk k20 swap in a Jazz......then supercharged the bugger!!! lol Amazing car! He's amazing when it comes to Hondas, knows em inside out. Think he's into VW's and MINIs now though.

Must hunt out that old laptop I have, almost positive it's on XP or Vista! lol Had busted usb ports though but might be worth setting up for in the garage for if I need to check any how to guides on here while I'm working on DD.
  4. Be gone little troublesome Jazz, be gone! Oh, you've gone....bye bye Jazz lol To be fair, I had a Jazz (think it was 2nd Gen) as a courtesy car when Lexy was in getting her paint all sorted. Really liked it, but it was brand new so probably different ball game. Only thing was, it was an Auto, and I had the cruise control on (like I normally did in the Civic) and it came to a hill. Sitting there daydreaming as we cruised along and all of a sudden it hit the kickdown and took off like a truck had hit it's arse! Got such a bloody fright! lmao Going uphill,it had dropped below what I'd set the cruise control at, so unlike Lexy, didn't just accelerate but dropped a gear and gave it beans!! lol Still a nice wee car though if I'm honest. If I could just have the jdm import one, the sport with the 1.5 supercharged engine, bright yellow paint, body kit etc.....they look sweet! Said to Gayle after I handed back the Jazz I wouldn't mind getting one.......................she said "you'll be sitting in that yourself then grandad!" lmao
  5. Love your Civic, and that K10 Micra is amazing. Proper first gen too with the high back seats, can remember these in the showroom when they were brand new. That one you had looks awesome mate, what happened to it?
  6. As the title says, what's the best car you've owned and what was the worst! Include a photo if you have any, if not pinch one from the interweb of same car/model etc. If you're stuck between two that you consider your best, then you can have two! lol My best car: Ruby my Honda Civic MB6 Vti and DD, my Civic Aerodeck My worst......Vauxhall Astra mk2 2 door! Was an absolute pig of a car.....1.3 auto, gearbox packed in after 1 month, car was rotten from front to back (looked lovely, but rust had been hidden underneath the car so inner wings, floor, sills etc were basically just fibreglass and filler!
  7. Good point, can't remember if it was DD or Ruby that had that very issue with the wire where the sensor plugs in, that wee look was cut/exposed. Had forgot about that! Or was it the Mini? Who knows, know one of them had abs light on and that was part of the problem!
  8. ABS light should go out automatically once the faulty sensor has been replaced mate. When you first start the car, a signal is sent round the sensors to make sure they are all working, then if they are the abs light goes off. They can be glitchy as hell though! Mine on DD was, it eventually went off after emoving the sensor, plugging back in again. Only other way to reset the light (even though it shouldn't need reset) is to do the ecu reset (disconnect battery etc)
  9. Thats strange mate, the Jass bits i bought were great fit (gear stick surround and cup holder) It's the IL Motorsport parts I've found to be a complete pain fitment wise. Whats the bootlight look like, not seen the Jass one yet?
  10. Also think the rust on the floor pans probably points to a possible roof leak in the past, so be well worth checking all the seals around the roof to see if they need replacing. Mine doesn't leak, but if I point a pressure washer directly at the top of the passenger door window, there is a little bit gets past the seal right in the middle. Going to replace all mine soon.
  11. Nice to see some photos mate. To be fair, rust wise I've seen a lot worse than that so for a 97 she's not too bad. Liking those braces, be really interesting to see what difference they make once she's on the road. Some nice mods going on there that I've not seen on the mx5's before.
  12. That'll make a cracking track car! I need to give Krzys a call soon, not had a chat with him for ages

    Laptop upgrade

be interesting to see Xp on an ssd and 8gb of ram!
  14. Something I always fancied doing but never got around to it! Be an interesting build to watch!
  15. You're like me Jake, get bored not being able to drive them so just post a photo lol. I cant even remember the last time I drove DD, was ages ago! Looking forward to the Rover track car build if you get it mate. Would have loved to have done this with my Dad back in the day but things were tight money wise back in them days, so had to make do watching/helping him fix his own mk1 escort and Hillman Avengers lol. Good times though! Great thing to do with your son mate, and he'll not only love doing it just now but will appreciate it years down the line

    Laptop upgrade

They are indeed mate! Thing is, the price of them, although still a bit more than normal HDD, has come down massively so makes them more attainable too

    Laptop upgrade

SSD is a must now I'd say! I'm going to see if I can do same on Gayle laptop, although hers doesn't have any wee inspection hatches to check hard drive etc, whole thing has to come apart just to get to hard drive. Even worse for changing the battery in it! But I think it needs it now, she's seen how fast mine is so as she also uses hers for work it would be good to get it done. Thinking I'll see if I can clone her new windows 10 install to save doing it all again. I tried Ubuntu before getting Windows 10 as had always wanted to try a Lynux based OS, and my colleague at work recommended it. I was using it from a usb stick to see what it looked like/how it performed, and admit it did seem fast. But then it wasn't installed on my drive, just an empty usb so didnt have cluttered up files etc to deal with. lol Used it for a few days to get a feel for it, but I just couldn't take to it. For an OS which is based such a basic and simple platform, it was overcomplicated. Even doing a small thing like adding a desktop shortcut was a faff, so decided its deffo not for me! lol Windows 10 is so simple to use it just makes everything a doddle.
  19. How we doing all? Something a bit different to the usual chat this lol For the past year, I've been looking at getting both my own laptop and Mrs Chillax's laptop upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 ( I know, should have been done ages ago!! And me working in IT too!). Both laptops are getting on a bit now, but thing is, we both like them! They work fine, hers looking mint and mine looking a bit scratched and worn. Priced up similar spec laptops, and we'd be looking at around £700 each! Soooo, checked if our old ones could even run W10 and got differing info, some saying nope, some saying yes. Took the plunge and bought two W10 licenses at £80 each. But then In had a cunning plan! After much research, I worked out that my laptop could take an upgrade from HDD drive to SSD drive. New drive was only £30. Even better, I thought that it might be able to run two internal hard drives, so its old 600gb HDD could be reused for storage. Bought a carrier that replaces the disused CD/DVD drive and has the HDD fitted to it. Started working on both at around teatime yesterday, both running W10, all updates done, by about midnight. That includes fitting the new drive to mine and modifying it to take the 2nd drive. Difference in how both now run is amazing, much faster. but mine, with windows being installed on the SSD drive, is bloody amazingly fast! Boots up and is usable within 1 minute (because its got SSD, fastboot is enabled in BIOS), unlike before where it took around 2 to 3 mins to boot, then you had to wait till it all settled down before using it. Programs load really fast no lag when using loads of things at once, really really impressive. So if you are thinking of a new laptop, or even had thought about an SSD drive, do it! Its cost us £276 all in, that's for 2 windows 10 licenses, a new MS Office family edition, my new ssd drive and the carrier for it. Oh, plus 8 quid for a roll of red carbon look vinyl that I've wrapped mine with so it now looks brand new!! Hella lot cheaper than £1400 quid!
  20. That's so cool, no Q plate for Tubs2! Plus means you can get her back on the road even quicker mate. Result!
  21. MOT ran out 3 days ago, and is currently sorned so will be currently off the road. Looking through his videos, he hasn't posted anything for the past 11months (and that was a bike engine build). Couldn't see the civic anywhere in the background of that, and the last video of the civic was a year ago. Possibly the car is still awaiting the engine build as he took it out during lockdown i think?
  22. Ahh, with you now. That'll be a nice set up, and good that you can remove it away from the pikeys! I'm going for an Android head unit (with no cd mechanism) which will need to stay in the car, but the one I'm looking at is only £60 to £80 quid so not too fussed.
